Pow! Right in the Kisser!

apologize.jpgZOMG We’re finally going to run MrT! Huzzah!

The cell phone rings, we know without looking it’s Mrs BRK. She has always had a knack for knowing just when not to call

“BRK! Hold on, you’ve got to hear this!”

“Honey, no time. Gotta run, see you when you get home.”

/click

“OK fellas, let’s go!”

/cell phone, Mrs BRK again

“BRK!! Listen you’ve got to…”

“HONEY! Not now, please!”

/click

Two hours later, Mrs BRK comes home. We’ve finished our MrT run and happily greet her outside.

“Well, you dumb b@stard, you just pissed two fans off.”

/puzzled

“I was at Target and ran into two guys in the camera section arguing about Hunters. They asked if I played, I said I was a WoW-Widow, but that they’d better not let BRK hear them bad-mouthing hunters. How did I know about BRK, they asked. I’m married to him. You’re Mrs BRK?!?! Can we talk to him!!

“So I had two of your readers on the iPhone wanting to say hello, and you totally blew them off for whatever stupid dungeon you were running!”

“It was MrT…”

“Carry these!”

So to the folks Mrs BRK met in the Waterford Lakes Target, we apologize for not taking the time to say hello. We cleared MrT two times, if that’s any consolation. Maybe?

Dude, if anyone would get it, it would be a couple WoWheads :)

  2. Mingonashoba on March 28th, 2008 9:43 pm

    Good job there BRK.
    You get any loot?

  3. RedForty on March 28th, 2008 9:53 pm

    That’s awesome!

  4. Mania on March 28th, 2008 9:53 pm

I just want to know who they were. :>

We should totally have an Orlando hunter get-together.

  5. Zball on March 28th, 2008 11:05 pm

It wasn’t me, that’s for sure. But yes, I’m in Orlando. BRK’s damn space shuttle woke me up the other night when it was in it’s glide path. Just a BOOM! as it passed over my house.

    Who am I kidding? I wasn’t asleep.

    BRK,

Sometime your wife will stop trying to talk to you when you are playing WoW. That’s when you have to worry….

    Ha! Ha!

  8. PT on March 28th, 2008 11:43 pm

BRK, I don’t think it’s the guys MrsBRK met that you should be apologizing to…..

Might want to get some perspective there dude. Keep cutting MrsBRK short, and she might find her a form of *entertainment* that doesn’t include you.
    ;)

  9. KeK on March 28th, 2008 11:51 pm

    Dear Mrs. BRK

Thank you for trying. Your husband (BRK) is a WoW guy, like me. He was involved and oblivious. The fact that you recognized fans, and made the effort to include them, purely amazing! While it’s probably true they’ll read this post and understand, it’s you who deserves a hearty Good Job.

    Dear BRK

Screw the naysayers your a semi-celeb because of what you write and how you write it. Mrs. BRK most likely loves you, just don’t take it for granted! Oh and as a level 47 once again hunter…my mana goes buh bye real quick BM spec, and I don’t even use Arcane Shot….WTF!

  10. Pike on March 29th, 2008 12:19 am

Mrs. BRK is totally one of my heroes.

My boyfriend plays WoW as I do, so, alas, I cannot say I’ve made him a WoW-Widower. I used to be able to say he was at least a Hunter-Widower, he being one o’ them warlock types, but no, as he informed me the other day he pretty much has every single hunter talent and ability memorized because I yap about them so much. He probably knows more about hunters than a lot of hunters do. And I am entirely to blame. >.>

Though I’ve yet to randomly meet someone “in real life” who knows about the vaunted walls of BRK. Which is sad, because that would be fun and epic.

One time I was dueling someone outside Stormwind though, and after beating him he said “Darn that Big Red Kitty.” To this day I dunno if he was talking about my big red kitty pet, or the BRK who taught me how to win in duels. It amused me nonetheless… I took a screenshot. =P

    *whomp whomp whomp*

Dude BRK, MrT is annoying, some Shandris people are so unreliable.

We never got past the 3rd boss =|

WTF GTFO YOU UNRELIABLE NOOBS ZOMG AHH

    I mean../sigh

    Hi Mrs.BRK! /wave

    /rofl

    Noob. :D

Don’t worry too much about the fans though BRK, they probably get it. Mrs. BRK however… I think you owe her something shiny and expensive now. And a nice little dinner date.

Trust me on this one… >.<!

  13. Seabrat on March 29th, 2008 2:41 am

Yes! Finally got to run MrT today - three times! The last was on heroic and the Tunic of the Ranger Lord (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34614) dropped! I was a happy hunter and finally able to replace my S1 gladiator chest.

Keep at it BRK - it’s nearly as good as the Hydross drop!

  14. Cowpoke on March 29th, 2008 2:47 am

    Hey BRK,

I,m another Orlando area hunter who religiously reads this blog. I am Hunter class leader in my guild because of it. I think an Orlando area hunter gathering would be cool. (That shuttle scared the crap out of me the other night too, thought a tree fell on my house)

  15. Roadcone on March 29th, 2008 4:25 am

I’m all for the Orlando hunter gathering!

Damn shuttle was suppose to land at DFRC this mission…I was on the recovery team this time dang it! I knew it wasn’t going to happen, but I can dream of Vegas can’t I?

  16. Anonymous on March 29th, 2008 6:39 am

Man I hate the 3rd boss, if I wanted to play arena I would go join a team. Got a lovely combo of Shammy, 2 rogues, and a ‘lock on one run last night, we gave up on the run after 7 wipes.

  17. Sade on March 29th, 2008 7:30 am

Sheesh, that’s pretty rough. There’s times when you drop everything to devote all your time to a video game and times when you should pay attention to your spouse — or better yet, pay attention to your fans, which is not a luxury most of us have. I know if my girlfriend called me saying “Honey, you have to hear this it’s important!” that would take priority over a WoW instance. =/

  18. BRK on March 29th, 2008 8:24 am

An Orlando-Hunter Meeting is pretty exclusive. Let’s do some research… standby for a poll.

  19. kunukia on March 29th, 2008 11:01 am

I lived in Florida many years ago. I would have loved a meeting like that.

  20. Gretadelle on March 29th, 2008 11:42 am

my best friend is a total non-gamer.

a few weeks ago she was watching over my shoulder as I studied your Misdirect video. She seemed interested so I told her a bit about warcraft and showed her your blog and my blog

Last night the South Park episode came on. When she saw Cartman’s toon she yelled “OHMYGOD ITS BIGREDKITTY!”

    you really are famous.

  21. Follower on March 29th, 2008 2:46 pm

    Mmmm… Mrs Big Red Kitty… ^_^

  22. Calendre on March 29th, 2008 3:03 pm

Hmm…I play WoW a bit more than my husband, but if he did that to me because he was in an instance, instead of saying, “AFK a sec guys. Sorry, wife on the phone.” to his party, you’d better believe he’d be sleeping on the couch. Or paying back the money I gave him for his flying mount. Or something. And I wouldn’t dream of being so rude to my mate.

I love love love your blog, but quite frankly, if this is what went down, I’m disappointed in you. :(

  23. Michaela on March 29th, 2008 3:57 pm

I’m another FL resident, an Orlando hunter meeting would definitely be worth the hour-or-so trip! Count me in!

  24. Kestrel on March 30th, 2008 2:24 am

*grumble* My son’s family just left Tampa (Lithia) for St. Louis in January. I live in South Dakota. Unfortunately, a “WoW-hunter gathering/BRK Love-In” just won’t cut it as an excuse.

  25. Draea on March 30th, 2008 9:39 pm

Oh, wow. I read BRK quite often, but I never post anything. I knew you were in Orlando, somewhere, but Waterford Lakes is, literally, five minutes away from me.

    How odd.

In any case, they should have understood, if they really play the game right. I mean, I blow people off all the time for my raid schedule. Fortunately, I also have no commitment to anybody. =D

  26. tego on March 31st, 2008 5:52 pm

Eh men are stupid, moronic at times really. I have been nearly guilty of this before…… I just dont pick up the phone. Still BRK gonna need some nordstrom cards fer this one.

  27. Kame on March 31st, 2008 7:17 pm

I just have to say that this quote had me laughing insanely.
    “It was MrT…”
then i laugh for bout 2 minutes straight with my sides burning by the end and i read the next quote…
    “Carry these!”
I must say BRK you are a master side laughter pain, because when you make a joke its a good one

  28. Calliope on March 31st, 2008 9:14 pm

hmm, being a person who feels more about the folks in the game than i do about instances, i’d say that was an oops… and as far as you’re concerned with Mrs. BRK, there was probably a noticeable loss of brownie points there which i’m sure you’re clever enough to make up pretty quick :)
But a completely understandable thing to occur… i do the same thing to my husband, Wookiegoat, when i’m in/embarking upon a run.

Now, a question for you.. not being much of a pvper, in heroic mode, how would you say would be a good way to tacke the third boss and entourage with a warrior tank, a ret pally, a boomkin, a priest healer and a BM hunter? *grin*

Possibly a rogue instead of the hunter or ret pally… the six of us always run stuff together and we are having a bit of difficulty as none of us are really any good at strategy :P

  29. Galoheart on April 1st, 2008 9:50 am

Awesome story. Never cease to amaze with the stories that seems to happen to BRK.
