It’s That Time Again? Well Hot D@mn!
A while back, we did a Gnaked Gnome Race. It was a hoot, got good reviews, and the nice lawyers and GMs at Blizz didn’t ban us back to the Ice Age. That’s a winner in our book.
So what’s the encore?
GGR2? Nah. Those who participated before probably won’t show up, and we like our repeat business. We’ve got to be creative, inspirational, original, smexy, and have a fine, fresh scent.
Well if we ignore the “scent” component, this sounds like we need some Taurens.
A running of the bulls! That’s our idea. 10,000 level one Taurens barreling… somewhere. And facing terrible… things. Culminating in a fabulous ending… somewhere else.
Cr@p. BRK doesn’t know Horde. But we totally know someone who does!

Take some deep breaths, calm down, take a chill-pill. Yes, BRK and Team Ratshag are going to combine forces and let humanity… er, bullanity loose in Kalimdor. If we don’t get 500 Taurens across the continent and into Shattrath City, we’ll consider this a big flop.
Details to follow, but this much is certain: it ain’t gonna be on the 5th of May; too much competition.
Saturday, May 3rd, 2008! 7pm EDT (11pm GMT) on Cenarian Circle server. Not server time, look closely. 7pm Eastern Standard Daylight time. Make adjustments for your time zone as required.
Same basic rules as before:
- Make a level 1 Tauren, any class, either gender
- No XP, only the clothes on your back
- The route shall be developed in conjunction with Ratshag, our Horde Expert
- First one to the finish line gets UNLIMITED POWER!

I vote that the final route go through Un’Goro crater, on the grounds that the screenshots of a thousand bulls being chased by dinosaurs will be hilarious.

Is the dark portal not restricted to level 58+ any more?
I’ve got the perfect idea….
Start in Mulgore of course, head through the barrens, up north a bit and into stonetalon. Now there IS a shortcut at this point if you know about it, but lead through the charred vale and into Desolace. This is where things get REALLY messy, head THROUGH Desolace (and most importantly through Mannoroc Coven) and onto the dock at Shadowprey Village. Oh man I can see the carnage as a thousand tauren descend into the land of a thousand demons…….
Long race, but man that would be an epic run.

Yeah, you have to be level 58 to go through the dark portal, but mage portals dont discriminate levels =P.
Syrloyn….lvl 51 Tauren hunter Shadowmoon server….reporting for the run. Will be my first time and I can’t wait.

i already have 10 shortcuts in mind.
Afall has the right idea I think. It’s a long run but it would be the most interesting. Everywhere else is kinda boring as you can keep to the road. The route Afall suggested has great shortcuts that run straight through the worst roaming mobs in the game – there is no safe road through the gully.
Mind you, it may be the case that you just end up with 1000 dead cows.

The main problem is that Shadowprey Villiage is a hole. Best to just run to Orgrimmar. Some will take the safe road, others the short cut which should result in a little bovine bother.
Then I say it should be the Mulgore-Gadgetzan Cannonball race.
Fairly easy into The Barrens, fairly easy through it, somewhat delicate maneuvering through Thousands Needles, tricky to say the least in the desert, and a final sprint over the mountains.

My guild did this a while back. Naked cow run from TB to Stormwind. Was a blast until an unnamed 70 Alliance toon
dropped a snaketrap on us during our photoshoot outside Stormwind…

I like the stonetalon-desolace route, although thousand needles-tanaris would be good too. But I will be sorely disappointed if there isn’t a good deal of running in The Infamous Barrens.
We could always go Mulgore – Barrens – Durotar and end at Sen’Jin. Cow people in the troll town, mon. It would be groovy, albeit not as fun with the dying as you move back into a newbie zone.

I am SO gonna be there… um, if I can work out the time differences. (bleh. hate them.) The only reason I was in time for the Gnaked Gnome Race was because I logged in at what I THOUGHT was over an hour early to make sure I got on before the server got locked due to population overkill.
BRK? Sweetie? Please tell us what SERVER TIME this will be so I can just go log in and look at the clock to work out what time I need to be there? O_O <–puppy eyes

Does it matter, Horde or Alli?
Here’s an idea, no running. Everyone has to use the walk toggle. A plodding herd of Tauren moving in mass through the world.

Hope Rat has a lot of finger waggler friends to get everyone to Shatt! Should be an awesome time!
I think the Tauren starting zone to Gadget would be great. One catch, Must be Flagged PVP. Have TJ at the bottom of the elevator into Thousand Needles flagged PVP and wanding to her hearts content.
I vote for cow races around the racetrack in the Shimmering Flats. Lots of potential for mass carnage there. Mmm, chili con carne…
CC is an RP server, isn’t it? Is a race going to cause any extra problems in that environment?
Edit: ah, Nifen, you beat me to it. I think we’ll be okay, as I’m sure BRK and Ratshag will post warnings as the event develops. Those of you who already rolled toons named Runcowrun will probably have to re-roll
Of course, I’ll be there, with (cow)bells on.
A word of caution: Cenarion Circle is an RP server, folks. RP servers have been griefed numerous times by the RPlolL2play crowd, so I expect players for whom this is their main server to be quick to report violations.
What this means is: try to pick an RPish name, for your character and for the guild, if somebody makes one. Speaking out of character in public is a reportable offense (solved by creating/joining a custom chat channel, and nobly refraining from /yelling or /saying leetspeak slang). No, you don’t have to “thee” and “thou” (look at Ratshag for an excellent example of creative RP’ing), but we will be trotting our muddy bloody hooves through their home, so I hope we’ll try to be respectful.

Hey all. Few things. Dunno where the finish line will be yet – I’m thinking Gadget would be good, but there’s other options. CC is a west coast server, and I will start the race a 4:00 pm Server Time (which works out ta 7:00 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time). Gonna try to line up mages for Shattrath ports – bribery will probably end up being an option. It’s an RP server, which effectively only means don’t cuss too much in global channels, and make Chuck Norris references sparingly as ya cross the Barrens.
Looking forwards ta seeing all you big hairy buggers let loose yer inner cow.
OMG. I will have to miss Gruul/Mags to come to this, but I will be there. I was in the Wowinsider running of the bulls. I will definitely be a heifer to come to this one, and Woot! Taurens can be hunters!!

What you really need are a ton of naked humans to run in front of them! Getting level 1 humans and tauren all to the same start point is the real problem though.
Hmm you could get them all to ratchet. (Humans swim from westfall to booty bay then take boat, tauren run to ratchet)

(The only Horde I have myself is a level 22 hunter. Sadness. Though possibly if I don’t roll an alt for the race I can hang out along the route alongside and take screenies).

I was thinking that getting to Ratchet would be easy. I wonder how many baby Tauren the zeppelins/ships could handle at once? And then we run up to Hemet Nesingwary’s camp, a good destination for us hunter types…
