Well They Is

“Dear BRK, why aren’t you answering my email? Everybody”

OK, here’s the thing. We get a lot of email, a lot of it tremendous, some of it lacking. We read everything, we respond to as much as we can, and we take the most appropriate stuff and make blog-posts with it.

Now we won’t take an email and turn it into a blog-post just because we haven’t done a BRK Answers Your Email post in a while. We wait for well-written emails that arrive when we have time to answer them. Sometimes that takes a while.

What makes a good email? What is going to increase your chances to get a public response?

1. Good grammar. Capitalization, punctuation, spelling. The basics of English Composition, foshizzle. The more it looks like you put effort into your question, the more we want to help you.

2. Good structure. Don’t make every sentence a paragraph unto itself, but we love to see white space. Proper structure to your email will make us want to read the whole thing and not just skip to the armory link.

3. Armory Links. Don’t ask us to look you up. Include the direct link to your armory report. We’ll help you, but we’re not going to do your work.

4. Short and Focused. The fewer words in your email, the better. If you have a story to tell and your email is lengthy, you’d better hook us quickly with your introduction and not lose us in the middle.

5. Pictures. You’d think we’d get a lot more pictures, but we hardly get any. Including a pic practically guarantees a post. Why no pics, people?

As for the content of the blog right now, you should be aware that we write about what we experience and what you talk to us about. Right now our PvP is on hiatus and we’re doing Shattered Sun dailies and SSC/TK clearing. If you want to yap about something else, you’d better write to us.

So sayeth BRK, so let it be done.

We are hoping that tonight’s Hydross video works better than last week’s. We disconnected 10 seconds into the fight and destroyed the video and our combat log at the same time.

Wish us luck!

“Grammar” with an “a”, BRK! Oh, the irony!

Of course, maybe that’s just there to troll spelling nazis like myself…

Props to the good grammar requirement. With my guild I sometimes feel guilty about being a control-freak with what they use for their recruit messages but, at the end of the day, I think quality messages get quality responses.

    Compare:

“/1 Anyone got [quest] or willing to help, please?”

    with

“/1 m8s hlp with [quest] plx!!!!”.

I’m likely to break from what I’m doing to help the former if I can, the latter will barely even register.

    THEY’RE CALLED VOWELS, PEOPLE!

BRK Management reserves to misspell any word at anytime. :)

Hydross is my favorite fight. Just stand there and dps, FD before transitions, MD the tank when it’s up and reap the Damage meters kingship.

Although Lurker ain’t bad, too much jumping in the water though.

Glad you’re back to raid blogging buddy.

Although I dabble in the odd bit of pvp, I’m far more interested in your raid/pve gear updates as you’re a couple of steps ahead of me and I learn from your mistakes :)

P.S I now top the dmg meter on our Kara runs

The only problem: I learned English to read fantasy role playing books, not in the school. So if proper English was necessery I will never ever have BRK answer. :D

Note: “proper English” does not mean “perfect English”. :)

Anyways, the British I know will often contend that anyone in America cannot speak or write “proper English” that “American english” is such a travesty against the language they have as to be a totally separate entity. That being said they were drunk at the time, and said it in a somewhat good natured tone…. this ended up way off topic but hope people find the fun in it

    @ Elvenlight

I think the point is, people like myself (and I’m guessing BRK) want to see that you care enough about what you are writing to express yourself as clearly as possible. If something is worth writing, it should be worth writing to the best of your ability. If I see something written lazily, I am given the impression that it wasn’t important to the writer, and is not worth reading either.

But it’s actually pretty easy to tell the difference between someone who writes poorly because of laziness, and someone who writes poorly because they’re not writing in their native language. As long as you’re putting effort into expressing yourself as best as you can, I think you’ll be okay.

    @Nifen

Well, I’m trying to do my best. ;) But it’s just sooooo poor sometimes that I would like to hide into the dark far away corner of Terokkar Forest. :D
