Primal Nethers for 135 Gold?

BRK » 30 April 2008 » In Gear »

We just had to have a Nethercobra Leg Armor for our new armor, so we spent 360 gold on the mats for one, plus a 40 gold blue gem to finish the thing. Raiding ain’t cheap.

We had to go with the Agi/Sta gem because our meta gem would’ve been blown without a blue there. The Shifting Nightseye is a standard red/blue socket hunter-gem, nothing difficult about that decision.

What’s even better about these things is they get our Hit Rating back to 142! Huzzah! No more misses, no more hooks, no more raid-leader’s dirty looks!

So how do we look now, with our new gun and leggings?

Pretty darn spiffy, if we do say so ourselves.

Wanna see something cool? Check this out!

Hunters doin’ it for themselves! #1 through #4 on the FLK kill, both total damage and DPS.

I say, Who’s that atop those damage meters?

It’s Hunters! It’s Hunters!

Just out of curiosity, why are you using such poor ammo? surely if you can afford the armor kits you can afford some adamantite shells?

Sure I happen to be an engineer who rolls my own but the mats aren’t that expensive and as the recipe is easy to obtain I can’t imagine an engineer charging you too much to make you some shell machines.

(also it means you can hold 1000 ammo a stack which is great if you have limited bag space)

At this level, one should be using Mysterious Shells or Mysterious Arrows. Marksman Bova on the Aldor Rise and Archer Delvinar on the Scryer Rise in Shattrath sell these along with all other faction ammo and the best regular ammo.

My assumption Aggregate, unless I’m missing something here, is that he’s using the Violet Eye rep bullets which are higher dps. In addition, they are much less of a pain in the a$$ to obtain. All you have to do is stroll over to your friendly neighbourhood ammo vendor.

I also find them cheaper, as it was rare (on my server) to be able to get a shell machine for less that 5g.

So now that you will be able to hold the 2pc T5 set bonus without the shoulders, will you be switching back to the Shoulders of Lightning Reflexes or sticking with the T5?

Primal Nether for only 135!!! That’s so cheep. They finally came down below 250 just recently on Nordrassil.

  7. afallach on May 1st, 2008 2:30 am

They are only selling for 30-40 gold on Maelstrom. Now the Nether Vortex, that baby still sells for upwards of 250g. And it does look like he’s wearing the T5 shoulders in the screenshot and paper doll screen.

  8. Thormann on May 1st, 2008 2:41 am

Yeah, I saw that, but I know BRK mentioned a while back he was contemplating going back to SoLR when he got another piece of T5. Just curious as to whether or not that was still the case.

primal nether is about 50g on my server, and it was even before it became boe (people charged 50g to craft w/their nethers)

we’ve got an enhancement shammy in the guild with the lightning-reflex-shoulder-thingies and he swears by them.

the model on those bothers me… it’s like blizz penned out a few designs to look good on blueberries without considering other races. that’s one of them.

nethers range from 45G to 90G on Area 52 (US).

Just waiting on completing some primal might to craft my Lionheart and then buy the 5 Nethers to upgrade it to Tier 2

142 Hit? I’m confused…I thought a gun-weilding dwarf got a +5 weapon skill bonus that lowered the hit cap substantially, I think to 111. Is this not the case?

My bad about the ammo thing, guess I am just a noob :P

I remember when you were so excited that your broke 1000 dps for the first time. Grats on doing so well on the meters. ;)

If you use tusk gun, then the haste provided by the shoulders is not enough to make a difference. If you decide to continue to use BB, then you dont need haste at all. lose lose situation. but you are just 1 piece away from the 4 piece bonus.

I just wanted to point out one little bit of theorycrafting info.

Fathomlord has lower armor than any boss in SSC (except Lady V).

This is why we hunters regularly do so well against him and his buddies. Especialy we hunters with some armor penetration of our own. It is also why caster types do not see a comparable increase in their dmg. Armor has no effect on them.

As most of us likely know… the more armor pen you have the better it works… so for anyone wanting to take down fathomlord make sure you keep those sunders stacked full and keep that warlock buff up there. fully debuffed you can get fathomlord down to about the armor level of a half naked nub clothie… and doesn’t that sound like a good time?

If anyone wants more info about armor penetration or the armor levels of various bosses… ive got a great post i borrowed from the offical forums a while back. id be glad to email it to anyone.

Grats on the pants… another step to 4 piece bonus.

Just wanted to say thanks to the commenter who mentioned the Aldor/Scryer faction ammo vendors. I did not know these were there before. Most of the other hunter’s in my guild have said they were clueless about these too. Guess they are a greatly held secret.

    Thanks again.

As a Hunter I liked stacking armor penetration more than haste. That is why the new xbow with 2.8 speed is so amazing. It has great speed considering in raids there are drums, heroism, quick shots, etc… going on.

I played a bit with the spreadsheet and whenever I tried to stack alot of haste to bring a 2.9-3.00 speed weapon down enough to notice a difference my other stats would take a hit, so kinda of a wash in my opinion.

All this is mute though if you have the DST and a 2.9-3.000 speed weapon works for you without added haste.
