Where the [Bleep] is Everybody?
UPDATE 6:45pm EDT
Here’s what 345 level 1 Taurens look like… /flabbergasted
No words are necessary.
UPDATE 5:50pm EDT
Thanks to the generous folks at WoWMacros.com, we are proud to announce that the Ultimate Winner of the BRK/Team Ratshag Running of Da Bulls for Sharvan will receive a 60-Day Prepaid WoW Card!
Thank you, Forgotmycow, for your generous contribution!
UPDATE 5:36 pm EDT
If you’ve seen anything stranger than 85 purple-wearin’ baby Taurens, you’ve been around a lot longer than we have.
UPDATE 1:44pm EDT
The Finish Line is Zinzi. From Ratshag’s own orcish mouth, “She’s gonna be manning the finish line. First person ta opens a trade window with her be the winner.”
So you get to Hammerfall, find Zinzi, be the first to open a trade with her, you win!
And hilarity is in full moo-mode out at the kiddie pool.
UPDATE 12:56pm EDT
The Guild Moo has broken the 100-member barrier already, and the first Ratshag sighting has been reported.
The donations for Sharvan have broached $325. We feel like Jerry Lewis! Pour it on, folks. One dollar at a time, we want to send $500 to Sharvan’s family tonight. To those who have already contributed, thank you, thank you, thank you. /big hugs
FYI, we are “Bigredkitty”, level 1 Tauren, and “Brk” level 28 Blood Elf with Links the cat.
UPDATE 11:11am EDT
Guild “Moo” is accepting all applications!
UPDATE 10:15am EDT
That’s more like it, we’ve got some maniacs playing with their cows already.
If you want to join the race chat channel, type: /join RODB
Starting Post 9:00am EDT
Ten hours before the Running of Da Bulls for Sharvan and we’re the only level 1 Tauren out here?
Gentle reader, we dub thee Slacker. If you can’t spend twelve hours standing around as a level 1 Tauren on a Saturday, we think your priorities aren’t straight.
But we’ll see you there, yes? Yes! We expect a few guilds, some purple shirts, and other goodies to be handed out. Remember - stay in the kiddie pool and don’t get any XP. No questing, no purchasing stuff from vendors.
Cheating at a Running of Da Bulls contest is bad karma. Totally.
There have been a couple generous $5 and $10 donation, even a $20 or two. But somebody, and you know who you are, donated $100 for Sharvan. May Elune bless and keep you. Be sure to play lotto somewhere, Capt. Generosity, for karma like that will be returned in force, we know it.
We’re up to $250. You guys are making us proud, but there’s till time for 50 more people to donate $1 and get us to an even three hundred bucks. Will you help?
7pm EDT, 11PM GMT! Don’t forget, and we’ll see you there!

I’m planning on being there!! Vacamarron is all ready to go, my only fear is that I won’t be out of work on time.. I didn’t get done until 7PM EDT yesterday, but I’m hoping very hard that doesn’ t happen again today.

Ugh…. I quit WoW for a little bit, and for the time that I do, I miss Children’s Week and the Running of Da Bulls For Sharvan! This is terrible. I totally missed out on the Gnaked Gnome Race as well, so I epic phail. But when I come back in June, I’ll be sure not to miss anything you happen to conjure up for the Summer, BRK!

I won’t be there (yay horrible work schedules!) but I made a moocow just to pop on and wish everybody luck. Might pop back on again in a few hours =D

I was looking forward to this but just realised I can’t get on Cenarion because its a US realm and I’m in Europe… Don’t suppose there’s any way round this?

@Andy
Make a Trial US Account??? Might work, don’t know for sure.
Unfortunately I’m working all day too
Work ftl.

You have no idea how badly I want to join in on this… but I’m stuck pulling a double-shift at work right now.

Car trouble means I’m stuck at a friend’s house til Monday.
Friend’s house = no WoW

best of luck to those who make it =(

So is the running of Da Bulls any relation to the big running in Kentucky today?
If so have a julep on me and enjoy the race. Not sure if I will make it for the event today, got a honey do list 2 miles long today.
Taler on 03 May 2008 at 12:51 pm #
US Trial accounts have the restriction of not being able to join Guilds or talk in chat channels, or at least not the RODB channel, can join it, but speakings out of bounds, kinda annoying.
But I’m there!
kunukia on 03 May 2008 at 12:51 pm #
How about a T-shirt that says:
For Sharvan!!
Moooooo!
Put it in the BRK store. Proceeds go to Sharvan’s family.

It’ll be a close race for me to get on in time to join the stampede, but I’ll be trying to get there in time.
A big moo to you all in case I make it on too late to be running.

Eep! I spy my Borky little self making up part of the right-hand arch of the M!
Just wanted to say thanks to Pastoral and the others who are helping out by telling us wee cows which channel to join and inviting people to Moo, you’re doing a great job at making everyone feel included. Sadly, as Taler pointed out above, those of us on trial accounts can’t join, but we’ll just have to show our affiliation by /mooing a lot and keeping close to the herd.
Looks like RODB is shaping up to be a big ole funfest, nice one BRK!
Malok on 03 May 2008 at 2:46 pm #
Looks good. Glad you were able to post the MOO screenshot. I plan on continually screenshotting as much as I can. Not sure if I’ll be able to stay for the whole thing or not, but I’m gonna try. MOOOOO!

Awwww, I’m sharing the same problem as Andy, being european and all. The only way to make a working US trial account seem to be reinstalling the game so that I only have the original game, but by then the race will be over since long.. :(:(:(
Let’s have a Running of Da European Bulls!

no chance to make it to the race.
I said a moo as it turned to 6:00 (race time for me in CST) and wished I could have been there with everyone. I’m sure it was a special feeling for everyone mooing for Sharvon together.
I hope that I can make the 2nd annual GGR at least.
/moo salute
much <3 for BRK, Ratshag and everyone else making the run possible.

Just finished the race and logged from Hammerfall. I regret not going on too Ironforge, but I just didn’t have it in me. It was wonderful, and the first real event I’ve been too, as well as this being my first comment to your blog.
Thank you and everyone else who was a part of it, I’m sure everyone has a great time!

Well I just want to thank you, BRK.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to think outside my box so to speak. I arrived at the Running Bulls event about a quarter to start time, and while I tried to receive a guild invite or a purple shirt, I got neither but I did not feel disappointed. I made my cow — Jërsey — and lined up with everyone else, feeling awkward but un-deterred. Kind of anxious, but kind of excited as well…When we began running I was impressed by the awesome displays of Moo’s and the spamming of barrens chat, thinking to myself that this must have been daunting to all the Chuck Norris-joke sharing mooks who normally frequent the chat.
At Camp Taurajo, I decided to part paths with the main herd and go an alternative route: I went south and made my way the mountain route through to Dustwallow marsh. Part of it was I wanted to reflect and be alone with my thoughts, another part of it was my intention to reflect on a player I had never even met: Sharvan. I have lost family members in the last 8 years and each one of them had their own special impact on my life and while i will always miss them, what they gave me in life I will always treasure.
I found myself the victim of hyenas, quillboars, and thunder lizards on my way to the mountain pass, and thinking I was safe found I was wrong with my greetings by gators in the marshes. To say that the death run to catch the boat was challenging is an understatement, but eventually, after a lot of running from the graveyard, some laughing and a little determination I made it on board. I had about 2 minutes to relax before I got to enjoy the same pleasure arriving in Menethil Harbor and s-l-o-w-l-y making my way to the Wetlands roads, only to be confronted by my new found friends: gators.
The run through the pass and over the bridge to Arathi highlands went smoothly enough, until confronted by my last and final deathrun to hammerfall: spiders and raptors. I was happy to see that my arrival at the graveyard was greeted by the timely arrival of the rest of the pack. As I walked the last few paces, and after a greatly appreciated rez from another player I made it through the gates of Hammerfall. My wife will not understand why I was slightly crying, but the memories of the loved ones I have lost had something to do with it.
The fact that some moron paladin decided that that was the perfect time to attack a large group of level 1 or 2 taurens was a surprisingly cathartic release of anger, as I gladly launched my proud tauren warrior, Jërsey, into the fight to bring him down. Needless to say I pvp flagged and was summarily cut down but I felt it was a worthy endeavor.
WoW is just a game but i will say this: this event will have a special place in my heart as having made me reflect, have fun and feel passionate in a medium that I normally would never have expected it.
So thank you, BRK…Jërsey salutes you.
