BRK Hunter Guide Movie - Dr. Boom Demo
Do we need to do a new WoWWebStats movie as well? We don’t think so; it’s very intuitive nowadays.

I’m not entirely sure what the purpose of the movie is. A tutorial on using WWS again? But you said it wasn’t. Just testing on Boom?
I guess since I know these things that I miss the point. Sometimes fresh eyes are needed. In any case well done on execution and explaination.
However if you want to test DPS on rotations this is unfortunately not the most accurate way of doing so. Tests like this can get heavily biased one way or another if you string crits, or even just high/low end shots on the damagerange.
Count the shots over several tests of equal length (preferably long tests, as far as mana can go), then calculate the theoretical contribution of each shot and add up and devide by time. That shows the DPS each rotation should do, rather than some biased event that could just as well go the other way.

All this does is show how to perform a single Dr. Boom test-run and capture a specific data-set for future WWS processing. Yes, you absolutely need to do lots and lots of runs to account for crits and other anomalies.

From what I can tell, if you haven’t got a WWS account already, you’re out of luck. Or did they fix that in the past week or so?

Well, not everyone knows about Dr Boom, so I think he’s teaching people about where he is, where to stand, and how easy it is to complete tests on Dr Boom. Personally, I had never known about this mob and never knew about this mob until a few weeks ago from a BRK post.

What Indi said, yes.

@ Felandra
There is always something new to be learned
I have done a lot of DrBoom testing but always had a problem stopping at exactly the proper moment. Now I know how.
I generally remove my trinkets so they don’t randomly fire. I select AotV because this keeps my mana up and I can test longer. I am comparing weapons or rotations, not trying to measure my maximum output, so I don’t need AotH. I also put Superior Mana Oil on Legacy … again, I want to maximize the length of my run and I usually use 90 seconds. The longer the run, the less effect an inaccurate stopping time.
So keep up the good work BRK … like others I’ve learn a lot from you (I still can’t do a decent jump shot tho … maybe I need to replace the thumb ball with a mouse.

Ah great, I did have a feeling I was missing the point.

@Mudge
Just put all your arrows in your bank (if you have space and don’t want to just sell them). Leave 200 in your quiver, and fire away. Always 200 shots, that’s pretty controlled, I think.

Thank you. I am going to try a couple macros and see which works best!

It always makes me happy to hear Yakety Sax. My only complaint was that there wasn’t enough shooting to allow you to speed it up more so it looked suitably silly.
Still, I think 300 cows running at hyper-speed to it is funnier
Just one thing that isn’t entirely clear: how far out of the game do you have to go to ensure CombatLog.txt is flushed to disk properly? Do you just log out of your character, or do you shut WoW down completely? Logging in for me takes around 60 seconds, which is why I tend to just use recount, a pencil, and a piece of paper. Shame on me for being so low-tech!

So is BRK going to use macros from now on? or is he going to stick with the trusty manual rotations.

For those looking for an n52 review, there is nice one from a druid perspective that has helped me quite a lot:
http://www.resto4life.com/2007/04/09/the-belkin-nostromo-speedpad-n52/
In particular the use of bongos or bartender with one action bar over two rows to cover the top 2 sets of key, and a second bar with 4 keys to cover the bottom row.
Well worth a read, and I’d be surprised if anything BRK has to say will add much as it’s quite comprehensive. I play a druid and a hunter and the advice is good for both

Love the sped up music - half expected to see Benny Hill run around ripping dresses of everyone. On a different subject is there any way of brightening your movies? They always seem too dark. Indeed WOW movies generally seem too dark.

OK, I’m missing where BRK has the text of his shot macros on this site? He mentions copying and pasting the 3:2 rotation from his site in that video.
