This thing* is a B.E.A.S.T.

* 24″ iMac, 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Nvidia 8800GT (512MB VRAM w/256bit bus), 802.11N wireless network

Things are pretty sweet in Kitty City.

With everything minimized I run 20 outside of Shatt and 25 mans. /cringe

    Why a Dell?

  4. Melf on May 31st, 2008 1:56 am

/jealous. I’ve still got the computer I upgrade to in 2004 for WoW beta — Darnassus was fine, but Stormwind/IF killed my old G4 :)

I’m getting my new PC soon, yah!

And thanks for the new background ; )

Very sweet indeed! How many badges of justice for one of those? Can you get it from the vendor on the isle?

  7. Kleshta on May 31st, 2008 5:35 am

  9. ehay on May 31st, 2008 5:54 am

But on a serious question note… Who uses full-Screen glow effects?

Softi has an iMac (24”, 2.4Gz core2 duo) and I installed extra ram into it up to 4Gb. It made a difference, you should think about it too. Every little helps :P

It’s a beautiful thing BRK; gratz on the hardware. :-)

Brain fuzzes…too many numbers, words do not understand…Oh, pretty picture! That I understand!
Yah, sorry, my son sets up my computer, and fixes it if (when) I whine too much. But FPS I do understand, and if you are getting 75 with settings like that in Shatt, well, that’s freaking awesome.

  13. Crime on May 31st, 2008 11:37 am

Grats on the new PC, BRK.

    @Doherty

You must’ve bought the cheap version. My XPS gets 100FPS everywhere…

  14. Gorgor & Fugly on May 31st, 2008 12:14 pm

BRK, your Mac is about equivalent to the hardware I have, and you can fully max all of the settings if you want.

While the full res screen shots are purrrrrrrty, navigating over the 1900 pixels on my laptop’s 1024 or desktop’s 1280 resolution to just get to the “close” for lightbox can/will sometimes be frustrating. Is there some way to set lightbox so that one can click anywhere (on the picture) to close the picture? I’m guessing it should be pretty easy to “a href” or “onclick” the picture to follow the same link as the “x close” button.

…And have fun with the shuttle launch!

    @ Indi

You should be able to just click away from the screenshot (That is, click on the site in the background above or below the image), and it’ll go away. No need to go all the way to the close icon.

Thanks! That is good to know!

Very nice! Welcome to the wonderfulness that is modern Mac-based gaming. As you can see and are now experiencing, it’s a beautiful thing. :)

    Grats on your purchase!

Moar terrain distance ^^ Congrats on your Mac, I’d like to see a pic of your UI as well. That resolution makes me cry, I’d be lost with so much screen real estate to spare :) Go kitty!

  20. Tisk on June 1st, 2008 2:53 am

That is the sexiest thing I have ever seen.

My mind is boggled. Thank you.

Yea, I play on an iMac too- in fact, I stole it from my husband- same one you have, I think, BRK. People marvel at the screenshots I manage. It’s not always conducive to play with everything jacked up for me, but my good lord how pretty it is!

Husband bought a new XPS recently, and somehow, it’s even PRETTIER!!

Be warned however about the iMac, a g15 keyboard is rendered (almost) useless. :( It’s gonna be some serious rigamaroll to use the extra macro keys.

Ill sit back here with my awesome laptop of 15 FPS and rocking internet connection of 4.5mbps with Auzzie lag and lol at your crap computer…. (cause its an apple :))

*Secretly goes and crys in the corner*

Where in Shattrath were you? I have the same graphics processor on a Mac Pro and see huge difference based on location and what I’m looking at. I’d be curious to know what FPS you’re seeing when in the Terrace of Shatt with a ton of people in front of you. I’m always tweaking the settings to get the best FPS. :)

The SS he has postest looks to be in ZA and no where near Shat. Then agian I have about the same set up and its awsome to go into SW and see 75 to 100FPS with all the activity.

Aah, the Ground Clutter toggles. Two of the biggest, appearance-changing switches in WoW. Yes, Ground Clutter makes finding Herbs a little tricky sometimes (this from a Herbalist), but WOW!!! There’s actually grass and plants on the ground, not just flat, green shading!

If you’ve got a decent machine (dual AMD 4200+ w/ an 8800GT here) dial up the Ground Clutter toggles (reset WoW if necessary) and be amazed at the difference it makes.

My Gnome gets lost in the weeds now, and Mobs are not just patrolling barren landscape. WoW is NOT the same game with Ground Clutter.

    Gratz!

I’m getting a new MacBookPro soon- probably 15″ for the portability. With my current (5 years old) system, I’m lucky to get 20fps with low settings. I can’t wait!
