BRK Hunter Guide Movie - Tidewalker

BRK » 02 June 2008 » In Movie, Raids »

Our first movie using the new iMac and the new iMovie. If there are issues or problems, let us know and we’ll see what we can do to rectify them.

Go right ahead and right-click this link to download the full-sized (84.5MB) movie.

The timer-mod with which we’ve been playing is OmniCC. It is NOT recommended for timing your traps, but for cooldowns it’s nifty.

Edit: Anonymous WWS report is here. We are Lapetus. 1344DPS while being sent to two watery graves isn’t too bad.

That was all sorts of awesomeness!! You guys make it look so easy!

    Great job.

…and I totally agree about the new iMovie making it more user unfriendly. I am so glad they haven’t “upgraded” Final Cut like they did iMovie or I’d have been productionless for a week or more just relearning.

Nice job, BRK! Grats on your fast learning curve.

I just noticed on this one that your 3:2 macro does indeed have that “thunk” sound every cycle. It’s barely noticeable with the gun, but as a bow user, it bugged the crap out of me. I ended up putting 2 more lines in in to shut off the sound and turn it back on during the split second that sound plays.
Wish there was another way though.

    Hey BRK,
What was the new Timer mod that you used? By the way great movie from your new Super Duper iMac. I just got my daughter her MacBook Pro for a graduation present this weekend. She loves it! :)

PS did you see where the Mac is now been upgraded to the 3.0 Ghz processor, damn it happens every time you buy a piece of what you think is the latest. lol.

    Cheers

    Galor

The timer mod was omnicc in my opinion the best timer mod cuz it doesnt take up any screen space just combine it with kahrtus hunters and ur ready to go

  8. Kruger on June 2nd, 2008 4:18 pm

So BRK used a macro during this fight? Am I the only hunter out there who doesnt use a macro?

  9. Crime on June 2nd, 2008 4:29 pm

    Great video.

    @Kruger,

You have similar comments on every post BRK throws up, that’s kind of silly don’t you think?

    Drop it.

@Crime > lol you beated me to it :)

  11. Kleshta on June 2nd, 2008 4:53 pm

I still prefer to have CC2 + OmniCC because i like the screen annoucement of CC2 when a CD get ready :)
@ BRK > you never put a slow trap on the road of murloc near the palatank ? Or do you prefer the fast method where the pally tank grab the aggro much faster and consecrate faster too this way ?

@ Kruger > well mate if you are too proud to use macro then don’t :) but i don’t see why i will not use a good official tool like macro it free you for repetitive heavy task, and allow you to be more aware of the actual combat, and learn more about your class (placement, shot rotation, trapping, etc…)

  12. Stuntyone on June 2nd, 2008 5:40 pm

Thank you BRK you just made my day … again. I was considering doing some “How not to” Warrior Guide Movies, but I just can’t be that funny :)

  14. Rotseh on June 2nd, 2008 8:33 pm

We always tank Morogrim in one of the corners in range of the tunnel so we do not have to move him.

  15. huntard4ever on June 2nd, 2008 8:58 pm

    @Kleshta
thats the onlt the i miss about it i really wish omnicc had it

  16. Kleshta on June 2nd, 2008 9:51 pm

@huntard4ever > i agree omniCC with visual advert would be enough i’ve already made the demand on tuller’s site some time ago but nothing atm :) maybe in the future let’s hope :)

  17. Dahk on June 2nd, 2008 10:14 pm

Question: Why no explosion trap to supplement AoE? Would it cause too much of an issue with mana?

  18. Chromaoran on June 2nd, 2008 11:12 pm

I’ve been trying out the 3:2 macro and it just goes through mana too quickly. Manually firing steady shot whenever the GCD is up doesn’t use up the mana at all.

  19. Kleshta on June 2nd, 2008 11:43 pm

@Dahk > As you have seen the dpsing of the murloc is not exactly at the same place than BRK’s dps spot, putting a trap will lower the dps on the boss because you need to move, and since the murloc get alot of HP it will not be very effective, Mage / lock AOE are much better. And as you said it chunk a bit of mana too, and this combat is VERY long, every MP count !

@Chromaoran > The 3:2 is obviously much more mana consuming but DPS wise it’s better :)

  20. Indi on June 3rd, 2008 2:56 am

You may find it beneficial to have both the 1:1 and 3:2 macros bound to keys so you can easily switch when you run low on mana. Generally, with under 10% mana, I can throw up viper and sustain a 1:1 until I can use a pot and switch back to the 3:2.

  21. Vanakis on June 3rd, 2008 5:59 am

You sounded a lot more cheerful in this video then in the Hydross one ^^

I saw “Mantle of the Tireless Tracker” drop off him once, but decided to keep T5. Still a bit unsure because those shoulderpads give 0.99% (or there abouts) more crit then T5.

  22. Felandra on June 3rd, 2008 7:14 am

Yup, our traps are pure crap for AoE. They are risky to say the least as you have a much harder time controlling when it goes off, and the damage per mana is lackluster at the very least. Better to let the locks and mages handle this while we punish Morogrim himself. If you really want to help out use Multishot when there are Murlocs around. You help some and you don’t have to move around and you DPS while doing it.

  23. Felandra on June 3rd, 2008 7:24 am

Of course it requires the Murloc tanks to stand near Morogrim… Forgot about that. But that is how we do it, so the AoEers can hit Morogrim as well. And it isn’t as if the pallytank will grab aggro.

  24. Skorak on June 3rd, 2008 9:03 am

    @Felandra

Yep, that’s exactly what I was wondering. We normally have our pally tank standing just behind Tidewalker’s butt so that the AoE hits the boss as well as the murlocs, so I was wondering if there was any benefit to tanking the murlocs down the ramp.

Kharthus’ Hunter Timers will present the timing in your traps and other hunter abilities. It rocks!

  26. Pyrius on June 3rd, 2008 11:03 am

We use (what I consider) a somewhat simpler strat.

We’re blessed with two pally tanks, so we all just stack up behind Tidewalker and shooting the bejeezus out of him. When the Murlocs come, they immediately get hit with consecrate, give it second for the pally to build aggro, and then the mages and locks start AoE. For the globules, we just move position, but every actually still stands in the doorway.

I’ll lay down an explosive trap if I’m feeling saucy (I know it’s silly and unnecessary) but the strat is so simple that we can basically bring any knucklehead and they do the right thing.

  27. Alaw on June 3rd, 2008 2:43 pm

    Great vid BRK.

I like seeing different strategies deployed effectively - fuel to the fire that more than one strat works on different bosses. Our guild always tanked Morogrim in the corner - and positioned lifetapper/pally a good distance away from the raid with their own healer. Worked for us — but our raid comp is fairly unique.

@Kruger: my huntard compatriots and I enjoy manual rotations more than macros - our WWS are fairly comparable to BRK’s - not quite as consistent, but the potential is there, latency permitting. Just play how you enjoy man - the “right” way to dps is strictly personal preference.

  28. Kleshta on June 3rd, 2008 3:22 pm

@Messyah > If you see BRK’s addons list, they already use KHT :)

@All > It’s good to tank murloc down the ramp, to avoid the earthquake that will stun the pally tank and/or the AOE dps, and remember that aggro especially on healer is a zone aggro + distant aggro so it’s better that the pala tank make a wall between the murloc popping behind morogrim by the water tomb and the caster / healer near the ramp than the melee dps / tank. (hope i was clear ^^)

  29. Pyrius on June 3rd, 2008 4:10 pm

Honestly Kleshta, that hasn’t been a problem at all for us. Maybe our AoE guys are really good, but the murlocs are always all down before the next quake and the delay between the quake and the murlocs arriving is long enough that any of those people being out of action is of zero concern.

  30. Kleshta on June 3rd, 2008 7:22 pm

Yep i think they are very good because this boss is not easy @ the first encounter :) well and you got 2 pally tank that help alot too :)

  31. huntard4ever on June 3rd, 2008 11:42 pm

    @alaw
the best way to dps in the whole game as a huntard i mean hunter is do wat ever u can to get top dps i really dont care if u have an all out steady shot barrage if thats the best way to get tops dps then do it

  32. huntard4ever on June 4th, 2008 1:24 am

  33. Thori'dal on June 4th, 2008 11:17 am

    Dear BRK

Last Night I had a dream that we killed Kil’jaeden for the first time and were lucky enough to drop Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury!

    And you outrolled me 94-93..

Then a Ninja Rogue came and rolled a 97.

Stealing the Bow and giving it to me. The proper owner.

Just curious… If you would pay me 10k for this bow? If you were guarenteed to get it. (all in fun of course, since the odds of a hunter getting this are like 3 million to 1 at this rate.
