Higher Education is for Suckers

Not again.

Aetherial Circle needs raiders. We are a casual raiding guild, but some folks have decided to lean much more heavily on the “casual” side as real-life and school interferes with their playing. We wish them well, and now we have to re-fill our raiding-ranks.

Give AC your tired, your poor, your DPS and healing classes yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming servers. Send these, the guildless, Tempest Keep-tossed, to BRK: We lift our lamp beside the golden portal.

Healy-type Shaman, Druids, and a Priest.
One or two mages, pick your spec.
A rogue willing to be humiliated on the damage meters.
An Affliction warlock who understands what 5/5 Shadow’s Embrace means.
An additional ranged DPS, any class.

We raid Wednesday, Sunday and Monday, from 8pm EDT until 11pm. We are 6 of 6 SSC, 3 of 4 TK, 1 of 5 MH. Our immediate plans are to clear Mount Hyjal, get Vashj to farming status, and take a peek into Black Temple.

If you’ve got the raiding gear, i.e. all done with Gruul’s and Maggy, know your class and your spec, can commit to raiding at least two of those three nights per week, and are interested in seeing end-game content with us, drop us an email at either:

bigredkitty@gmail.com or
recruitment@aetherialcircle.com

You can also visit http://www.aetherialcircle.com/forums and drop a post in the Recruitment forum. Armory profile linkage is a must. A gear-list could be helpful if you frequently log out while wearing a PvP or fishing ensemble. Long-winded applications aren’t necessary, but a quick, “Who I am” paragraph is always helpful.

And any rogue that can out-DPS us, we’ll pay your repair bills. Hasn’t happened yet, though. /boast&dare

Good luck, BRK! I’m sorely tempted to apply with my rogue just to see how well I’d do, but I definitely don’t want to leave my friends behind on my server.

Damn if i were on US realms i would come battle for top DPS with my idol BRK ;-) good luck in your search !

Why do you have to be Ally, they are the worst of the worst and I have pasionately refused to roll one, but I may roll a druid on your server for a chance of joining when / if you need a feral. A casual raiding guild is really what I am looking for, and the guilds on my server are all 730-1230 sunday-thursday raids.

Hope you get some good peeps.

    What happened to Dilbert?

Now here is something I make the mistake of alot to. By “dps” do you mean what it stands for, damage per second, or are you talking total damage for a instance or a fight.

As a BM hunter I’ve seen Mages that can out “dps” me, but i haven’t seen anyone that can out damage me for most fights or any instance if we are both somewhat evenly geared and both are on top of our game that night.

I take it you don’t have a rogue guild officer that considers the single shaman and feral druid in the raid as his own person dps improvement pets and thinks it’s the greatest thing ever to group a BM hunter in with healers.

Nevertheless, watch out for rogues as you advance farther into MH and get into BT. I have a feeling you won’t be waiting long for one of them to extract a repair payment from you.

  7. Messyah on June 4th, 2008 2:16 pm

Dude, if you guys manage to get the 3rd boss down in Hyjal, you can easily beat the first 3 in BT. Yes, they are THAT easy.

Ahhh, so close, those times work perfect for me. Another month or so and I’ll be able to apply for a spot once I get my gear up a bit.

Also, it’s easy to forget that your group makeup in 25 mans can have an effect on your individual DPS too. Heck, I keep forgetting it. My dream group (as a rogue) would be 2 shammies (one for Windfury, one for Grace of Air), a feral druid (for LotP), and hunter (for FI, Trueshot, or Expose Weakness). I USUALLY remember to insist that there’s a shammy in the rogue/melee group and that he always drops Windfury. Of course, it sucks when there are 5 rogues and one has to be in another group.

A TRUE DPS test between a rogue and BRK would be to have both of them in their own 5 man group during a raid. Of course, that would gimp both of their DPS and damage output.

Do you guys need an Expose Weakness hunter? More to the point, is Lamaa still around? I’ve been on break for about a month, now, and in the interim my guild blew up at 2/4 and 5/6. I’ve always thought the only thing cooler than the family of a guild I’ve been in for more than two years would be to raid with the best hunter around. I was a mildly huntard-ish MM hunter until I started reading your site, and even though I didn’t end up Beast, I am a much, much better hunter for having followed your column for so long.

  11. Pike on June 4th, 2008 3:49 pm

Dang, too bad I’m not geared enough and already in a guild I adore, or I’d apply. Not that I’d be accepted, but, ya know. It’s the thought that counts.

Maybe one of these days I can pull a Ratshag and level an alt up over there >.>

  12. Messyah on June 4th, 2008 4:03 pm

That’s a bit of an unfair challenge since rogues are required to be within melee range and most end-game bosses are not melee friendly. (Meaning there are stages where melee must get out of melee range to survive or be AOE’d to death.)

Now, if you can find a boss who is both ranged & melee friendly, I think I know of a few rogues that will give you a run for your money. ;-)

BRK, I think you should re-evaluate your use of the word “casual.” IMHO, ‘casual’ means “having less than 2 scheduled raids a week.”

  14. Evergreen/Gaijin on June 5th, 2008 1:01 am

Id love to see how you guys raid. If you catch me online, send me a tell.

hey…i think someone owes me some back pay…

  16. jacemora on June 5th, 2008 7:43 am

WTB move from tanking group to shammy group when DPSing instead of tanking.

    :P

    @ Makabak,

    Casual means…

    1. 2-3 raids per week with some 10 man raids for badges, not 4-5 25 man raids per week with forced 90% attendance.

    2. Going to raid but not always with the perfect raid group makeup and without raid leaders up your butt about how you play and your gear choices (food and pots are checked frequently however). Constructive critism sometimes is also offered but not frequently, maybe we just have some really good players.

    3. People getting screwed over for the sake of progression doesn’t happen, we have guild loyalty.

So bottom line, progression is not the guilds top priority, happiness of it’s members (I would still llike a 30 minute might) and a fun raiding environment is (check Vent for my porn site of the night).

    :)

  17. Dechion on June 5th, 2008 10:51 am

I would drop a line for the sake of my holy priest, but I could only make one night of your scheduled raid times. And I am also a bit behind your progression level gear wise. (was 1/6 SSC before he went on vacation)

Too bad, right now he is just sitting around looking for things to heal.

    good luck in your search.

  18. Adrus/Redhunt on June 5th, 2008 11:18 am

If I had better gear and wasn’t an officer in a great guild with lots of friends I would apply for that but The Elite is my home….

  19. Cynra on June 5th, 2008 12:58 pm

Hell, maybe it’s time for me to level my umpteenth priestess; it’s not like having five or six of them on other servers is enough for any one person! I’d be curious, though, if you require a priest willing to spec for Circle of Healing or the Spirit-laden alternative. There is, sir, a difference!

And the definition of casual changes from person to person. They may consider themselves casual while someone who doesn’t raid at all might look at that raiding schedule and think it far too hardcore for them. It’s like saying that I’m too short; sure, if you’re over six feet tall my paltry sixty-six inches of height might seem diminuitive, but I’d feel pretty mighty next to a midget! Or a child. Or small mammal…

  20. Squeeky on June 5th, 2008 2:48 pm

might wanna recant the rogue comment sir….i hear its been done…

    I’ve sent a friend your way. :)

  23. Rob on June 6th, 2008 5:59 pm

BRK, sorry dude, I’m pretty sure you’ll be out-dpsed on some fights. Alar comes to mind, solarian, probably VR. Some fights favor us, some don’t. From what i’ve seen (3/4), the entire TK is bad for hunters.

  24. Eddi on June 7th, 2008 12:43 pm

Damn, this makes me wish, I lived in the us… and i was playing on your server… oh, and that i was playing alliance… fight besides BRK… and the blogiest guild ther is… *snief*
