*snicker* props to WCIII.. I loved the goblin sappers.. “We’ve got explosives! Kabooooom!”

Interesting location to group up trash mobs, seems like it would take longer to down each wave or to herd the casting mobs too far inside the keep, which would leave tanks/dps/healers scattered farther apart. We usually just have hunters kite a ghoul, abomination or purple spider (forget its name) around the outer edges of camp to round up all the NPCs and bring them back to the AOE party which we host right by the lone cabin close to the keep entrance.

I’m sure raid composition and officers made the strat decision, just offering what’s been quite effective for our guild. Enjoy MH and BT!!

    Cheers!

Ya - what Bravehawk said. We found our first few forays into MH were a little slow early on when our prot pally was dragging each wave all the way back to Jana — once we started taking them down at the base of the hill, just inside the keep, and used the hunters to kite a ghoul/abom only in a direction to pick up Jana and bring her into the fight — things went a lot faster.

But in the end — whatever works for ya.

I believe we tried that strategy our first trip there and it didn’t work.

It was BRK on the grassy knoll! I *knew* it!

    Hey BRK,

Just a side note, you can get rid of the annoying buttons on the bottom of the new Omen by clicking the wrench, then skins, then select “Classic”

It frees a precious inch of screen.

Why the hell are you in a group with a moonkin?

  8. Esoth on June 10th, 2008 3:04 pm

@Bravehawk: yeah, although the Crypt Fiends (purple spiders) have a ranged attack which would make them pretty difficult and dangerous to kite. Haven’t tried it and don’t think it’s necessary. I only kite the abombs, and even then, if I run to Jaina and back, by the time I get back the aoe has killed everything else, so I don’t know if it’s even worth it. If you’re light on aoe, surely. Really though, the trash on the Alliance camp is normally pretty light. When Azgalor has those waves with like 6 abombs - I definitely kite one of those to Thrall or the tauren and back to at least give the tanks a break.

  9. Tox on June 10th, 2008 4:40 pm

BRK leading the gun toting dwarf NPCs? That’s only natural.

  10. Aboo on June 10th, 2008 4:44 pm

I hate the new Omen. NO ONE in our guild can get it to work. Everyone has it and no one shows up on it. It’s maddening.

I have one tank (the OT) and sometimes one of our mages on it and that’s it. Really hurts that I can’t ride the dps wave as close as possible to the MT. Makes me sad. :(

  11. Alaw on June 10th, 2008 4:49 pm

@Aboo — for the first 5 weeks after the patch, I could swear Omen updated daily. As a matter of fact, I think our raid updated together 5 to 7 days ago. There is a built in “compatibility” check now that lets you know if everyone is on the same version or at least a compatible version.

Your screenshots of battles in far away and exotic lands always excite my young level 70 hunter. Someday, someday….

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    @Aboo

Use WoW Matrix to update your add-ons and run it before you start wow every night. that way you make sure you have it updated. Also there is a few options, make sure it is set to single target mode.

Loving the resolution of the screeny, grats on the new Mac btw.

Alaw: It was more than daily… Sometimes a dozen updates in a day. Gettting ready to go into Kara, I’d run it through Wowaceupdater, get a new version, log in, get in the group, check versions and someone had a newer one.

Personally, I don’t like Wow Matrix, it downgraded some of my mods and installed non-working versions of others… I try to keep all my mods from Wowace, and if I absolutely can’t, I update them manually.

  18. Anonymous on June 11th, 2008 8:54 am

Esoth is totally right no need to kite a single mob just aoe at base of hill, kiting will take longer overall. If your BM you are highest single target DPS why waiste that running if you ensist on kiting use a shaman his DPS will not be missed.

  19. Bravehawk on June 11th, 2008 9:47 am

Anonymous, you should L2 read, Esoth agrees with me, just doesn’t think Crypt Fiends are worthy of kiting (I’ve done it, it’s fun, just kick AotC off before that range atk hits.) You need the NPCs all engaged to speed up clearing trash. You want to be far enough ahead so that everyone can eat/drink before the next wave gets there. Or in the event of an unlucky daze and a hunter dying. ROFL!! The more you engage the NPCs the easier the trash. We carry at most 4 shaman a raid and our elemental shaman is put to better use with the casters. Let the hunters do their job b/c we are born & bred for kiting…makes life easier for all.

  20. Bravehawk on June 11th, 2008 9:51 am

And for the Omen users, our guild ran blind for about 2 weeks and it got dicey at times. The reason people don’t show up is b/c either your raid leaders or maybe MT is not compatible and needs to update. Some of us had to delete our WTF folders (create a backup first to protect macros, etc) to wipe out the addon settings but we all use Omen now.

  21. Vuur on June 11th, 2008 10:03 am

BRK - do you have a list of all the addons you are using in that screen shot? I like your buttons and the way the chat was split the most.
I know omen - i’m liking more of the GUI options you have going on there

  22. Tragic on June 11th, 2008 10:35 am

Bravehawk not to argue but it makes it go slower no question. all your mages should be 3k higher on trash and locks 4-6k and a BM hunter around 1500 at that gear level. It is fun to kite but this is BC not molten core. Wouldn’t your time be better spent tanking a necro keeping em off healers and aoe? We always have 30 sec or more left before next wave. If i brought one to Just Jana they would be dead before she kills the kited mob and moves on to the rest of pak. Just a waiste of potential DPS and timed lost. I’m assuming you have little or weak AOE in which case I suppose you have no other joice.

  23. MmGravy on June 11th, 2008 11:46 am

Nice to see that you finally got that squad of dwarves to serve you BRK

  24. Esoth on June 11th, 2008 5:00 pm

@Tragic/Bravehawk I’m saying that I think kiting is pretty much a waste with our raid composition (we normally have three or four mages and two warlocks, plus a prot paladin tanking most of it). The exception is when you get to the huge pulls on Azgalor trash in which I would rather our prot paladin did not get ganked instantly - I kite an abomb then, but it’s more to give the tank a break than to get the NPCs involved.

Now that’s all considering you have a prot paladin and a lot of aoe damage in the raid. If you are missing one or both of those (I haven’t tried it without either, fortunately), I could picture kiting being a much bigger deal. If our aoe were about 20 seconds slower, either because we were lacking aoers or because they were threat capped, I would probably have about 10-15 seconds of those NPCs assisting everyone, which may be nice…

  25. Aukatos on June 12th, 2008 3:57 am

Shout out to Shmilybug! Missing you on Azjol!

  26. Bravehawk on June 12th, 2008 12:00 pm

We generally carry 2-4 mages and 2-4 locks in our raids, we just find that engaging the NPCs makes life easier. Our dps is not light by any means, we downed Archi last week after 7 Soul Charges if that’s any indicator and had a lock top 1 mil dmg on Illidan 2 weeks ago when we killed him. :oP

I’ve never had trouble kiting a mob past Jana and we run with 1 of 2 prot pallies who rotate on our single night clears in MH. I understand your thoughts, but we prefer kiting to get NPCs into the mix. We don’t need with our gear lvls but the practice helps keep the rust off, imo. I might also force any n00b hunter recruit to do it so we can see their skills…
