Ivus Lives

We were grinding honor in Alterac Valley on the MacBook Saturday afternoon - the empty action bar slots give that away - and somehow we ended up in a turtle. But as the Horde threw themselves against Stormpike Graveyard over and over again, a bunch of Alliance did their turn-ins and sent the Druids on their way.
Bing, Bang, Bum, we’ve got Ivus.
Have you seen an hour-long Alterac Valley recently? Even the attrition-fights usually only go thirty minutes or so. Alliance and Horde worked really hard to stretch this one out. Great job, everybody, it was a blast.

Would you really have posted that SS, if you were not top? You sucked at Arena, yet think you’re good with topping an AV. GoGo you.
Crime on 13 Jul 2008 at 9:36 am #
Hehe, nice. I’d like to participate in a long AV, with one of the, or well both of the summoned guys at once.
Remember: Don’t feed the trolls. ^Fish.
Dahk on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:00 am #
Wow, I’ve only seen one of those big guys summoned once (it was the big snowman guy thing from Hordeside). With the change to AV, I didn’t know a game could even last long enough for one of those guys to be summoned.
(p.s. @ fish: BGs =/= Arena. There is no implication assimilating the two and an assumption made on your part in attempt of accusation simply doesn’t work unless the viewer has the strong intention of skewing what is seen to fit a jealous or simply spiteful remark)

@ fish
Can you do any better? Show us! It’s easy to talk a lot of smack when hiding behind a fake identity on the internet.
@ crime
Sorry I had to… Apparently it is a Mage’s role to provide food and water for everyone.
@ brk
It is nice to see that people are still summoning the big guy. Great way to win the game too! AV games nowadays for me last on average 15-20 mins, so I haven’t seen Ivus since before they did cross-server battlegrounds.
btw, I am not Fish (I swear! Check the IP)
kunukia on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:09 am #
Really BRK, I love yer blog, but you do like to show the proof of your uberness, just a wee bit.
@ Tuna. Just so you don’t have to repeat what you said to Fish. No, I can’t do any better, I PvP some, but suck. No hiding, here is my main toon:

I asked a question: Would you have posted that SS, if you had not been top? Anyone, with hunters, and other range classes having it easier than most, to top a BG kill list. I have respect for those that have multiple Flag/tower captures and the like.
BRK on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:23 am #
We only post AV-results when there’s a story behind them, or there’s something to learn. We actually have another AV-results screenshot that we were going to post, because there’s a great story that accompanies it, and then after reading these comments, decided against.
BUT THEN we remembered that this is OUR blog and if we want to post nothing but AV-results where we top the charts, that’s our perogitive.
Were we happy with our performance? You bet! But if you think the *only* reason we put up that screenshot was to fulfill our sense of PvP-Uberness, you don’t know us very well, so we won’t hold it against you.
As for sucking in arenas, that’s a bit harsh. We played for, what, two months, hit 1646-rating, and got a Challenger nameplate. We have never claimed to be an arena-player of any note, but we really didn’t suck, did we?
And as we recall, we got a lot of hassle from people complaining about blogging about our arena matches. LOL!

@Fish
What about damage done?
Fish on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:38 am #
Trolloh -
You’ve got a good point there, a stat that i totally over looked. It’s the fact, that every BG’s SS that has ever been posted, had had BRK Top, and Flag Captures, Towers defended etc, was next to none.
BRK -
I expected you to wipe the comments from the site, and attempt another IP ban, you didn’t, and instead decided to reply, i thank you for that.
“BUT THEN we remembered that this is OUR blog and if we want to post nothing but AV-results where we top the charts, that’s our perogitive.”
You sure could, but then you’d lose a lot of your readers and i’m pretty sure this isn’t just a hobbie to you.
kunukia on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:45 am #
I just want to say, that although I said something similar to Fish, my comment was meant in a good-humored way, and I wish to dis-associate from all nastiness.
Fish on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:49 am #
kunukia - You do that mate
Nothing wrong with being weak. You’re one of those kids that sit at the back and cower arn’t you? Just keep nodding your head mate.
Pike on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:52 am #
@ kunukia - …I think I’ve seen you around the battlemasters in Shatt. >.> /wave
@ BRK - I’m jealous, I wanna see one of those things summoned! Never have. /cry (then again, I’d rather take a better Alliance:Horde win ratio in my battlegroup, but I digress…)
Fish on 13 Jul 2008 at 10:58 am #
You still didn’t answer my question, but regardless, this is my last comment on the matter, i won’t be replying any longer.
Tuna on 13 Jul 2008 at 11:10 am #
For the comments about BRK not Capping Flags, Capping Towers, Defending Towers, etc..
He is a Hunter, he pew pews from afar while other melee classes who are up on the front line, and if they see an opening to click on the flag, they’re gonna get there before BRK.
If he is in a WSG and there are classes better suited for running the flag, hes not going to grab the flag. He’ll drop traps and other Hunter stuff that will help.
As for Defending, if BRK sees an enemy attempting to capture a tower. I don’t think he will just sit there let them take it, just so he could retake the tower. Of course he will do whatever he can to prevent the capture in the first place.

We have banned… Hm. We think we perma-banned one person, once. We don’t ban commenters without a REAL good reason, and disagreeing with us or challenging our ideas is definitely not one of them.
We *want* different opinions and thoughts. We *want* you to bring about lively and interesting discussions. We want *your* opinions, especially when they disagree with ours.
This is not the BRK Love Fest Blog. Bring your arguments, bring your rebuttals, bring your challenges. And bring ‘em hard, or don’t bring ‘em at all.
But be nice; this isn’t the WoW Forums after all. /shudder

imo fish = clown. every class has a role, hunters role is and will always be damage, your prolly the rogue that ran away =\. meh, regardless im gonna try to start a turtle in my battlegroup lol. those things look pretty cool. i hate pvp personally, but im on an arena team for somethin to do so i should prolly get resil gear cuz i think my healer hates me now. LOL

Fish—
You talk the big game. You come at BRK talking about sucking and stinking and presenting your case on how BRK is posting ego boosting screenies.
Question:
Where is your blog? Heck, where is your armory link so we can see how awesome you are?
Post it..or shut it.

Sigh…
I, too, would love to see the big guys brought out in AV. Has never happened for me. And despite the complaints here, I’m impressed with the BG stats. As a spammer of chain lightning, I am usually near the top of the damage charts in my AV battles, and I never get anywhere near 500K. I don’t think a little boasting is a bad thing, and I think there are very few of us who honestly don’t check the rankings after a battleground ourselves!
Love the blog as always, BRK. And I actually miss the arena posts, because they helped me think about my own arena matches and how I would react to certain situations…

I agree with Sidhkona…I loved the arena posts. Don’t let people keep you from posting the results BRK! Maybe not every result…but one a week would be great.

I love to run the picked up trash back to base… but I sometimes wonder if I am the only one. Admittedly I don’t do it religiously, but if I am rezing near home, then I might as well drop by. Good to see it brought out again!

BRK, it’s your blog, blog whatever you want, if the audience you’ll be losing are the likes of Fish, no big loss.

BRK…. duuuude….
*/looks at Ivus screenshot*
feed your pet… not the trolls…
Btw, I didn’t like the arena posts here. But that’s because arena is boring… Didn’t have anything to do with BRK.
I DO like AV-posts, because I really miss the ice dude… Never seen him again since the last AV-changes…
Fathgar on 14 Jul 2008 at 8:43 am #
I will say an hour long AV is a cool thing. I haven’t seen those since they changed the honor system around. Back in the day and I know you know what I mean BRK AV used to last 3+ hours. In my Battlegroup before I switched servers we had an AV match go all night where I had had enough and /camp out. I came back the next day and queued for AV and got into the same one that was going since the night prior. I couldn’t believe it. The sick thing about it there were a few ppl still playing from that night too.

@Daniel
I hope to shed some insight on why the Arena post went over like lead balloons. All 99 red ones (Song from the 80’s)
In the beginning I like them very much. I was new to Arena and was hoping for your insight as to how to maximize my hunter in the Arena. Trick and tips from class to class fights. et al.
In your attempt to appease some of the users you became briefer and briefer to the point that it became box scores. Box scores do nothing for me and I assume others as well.
Daniel your strengths include (not limited to) being a good story teller. where you interweave humor, insights and morals/ code of conduct into your stories / blog posts.
you can bring them back, but bring some value with them. be it lessons learned or simply something funny that happened. or insight on how to survive a team type. For example Pally / Pally (grrr I hate when i see them like that)
I like arena because of the adrenalin rushes I get from the near wins or near losses. Me (MM Hunter) and my friend the Holy Priest both PvE specked do it for fun. we are < 1500 rating but we have fun.
Messyah on 14 Jul 2008 at 10:13 am #
How do these guys get summoned? Does anyone have a guide?
Kharl on 14 Jul 2008 at 10:21 am #
Fish’s Armory Link FTW:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Jubei%27Thos&n=Fish
Who really needs the one talent point anyway, when you are uberdoober? (at the time of this posting, no talent points were alloted)
Xaren on 14 Jul 2008 at 12:31 pm #
I have to agree with what’s already been said. Hunter’s in AV do not cap flags or towers. We are ranged dps support, and we make it possible for the rogues and warriors and pallys to cap the flags and towers and whatnot.
as far as turtles go… yesterday was the day for them. got involved in three in a row, one at the road leading to stormpike, one in the area by iceblood, and one in the entrance to the horde base (started out at frostwolf and moved back). all three resulted in wins by the horde, as opposed to the short and sweet race to the finish ones we had all day saturday, which clearly were favouring the alliance.
I want my honor points as much as the next guy, but I would rather have a hard fought hour long battle, than 4 15 minute losses. Nothing offends my competitive spirit than hearing folks say stuff in BG chat like “just let them win quick so we can get our honor and queue up again”
Loronar on 14 Jul 2008 at 1:44 pm #
I did not know that…thing existed. This is what happens when you’ve only started going to AV for a month I suppose.
Vorian on 15 Jul 2008 at 3:11 pm #
man, i was an an AV last weekend and did the same thing.
/sad panda
I even sent you screenies, only to find out you did the same
thing on the same weekend
