We Are In

BRK » 17 July 2008 » In Raids, Screenshot, WWS » 32 Comments

We took a great big, bold step into Black Temple. On our first serious night of attempts, we got High Lord Naj’entus down.

No hunter loot, that’s OK. We performed adequately as Thetys in a melee-heavy raid.

And we got Supremus to 86% before exhaustion set in.

It’s been a long, long time since we were desperate to get into Kara and see Attumen. What a journey. We are now 6/6 SSC, 3/4 TK, 3/5 MH with Azgalor at 1% – he going down prejudice next Monday – and now 1/9 BT.

Will we see Illiden before the expansion, that’s the question.

So am I always going to be Dew? I guess it’s better than having the name Mist or Fog… ROFL

I tell you, it was very satisfying to see how well we are coming together as a raid. We did so much better this time around looting the spine and taking care of business. Hopefully it is a sign of how well we are going to do going forward as well.

  2. Jacemora on July 17th, 2008 8:25 am

P.S. In the screen shot you forgot to blackout the names from the DKP bidding.

  3. Narian on July 17th, 2008 8:28 am

Hey BRK are you considering taking on the Sun Well even if you hit it after the expansion comes out?

  4. Asara on July 17th, 2008 8:41 am

    Congrats!! :)

And GL on Azgalor, we’re stuck on him atm as well. Maybe we’ll hit that up on Sunday, depends on who signs up.

Here’s a question for you though.. once you drop Supremus, if he drops Legionkiller, what will you do now that you’ve got the chicken on a stick?

  5. ratshag on July 17th, 2008 8:55 am

Melpomene? Melpomene??? Sounds like I’s a decongestant or sumthin’. Where they get those names?

  6. Fahr & Bacon on July 17th, 2008 9:09 am

Very nice BRK. It must feel pretty good to get back in the saddle as a group and have success like that.

    Congratulations!

  7. Zwigle on July 17th, 2008 9:13 am

That is awesome, and congrats on the kill!
on a side note, have u ever got a LOT of gold!!

  8. Jacemora on July 17th, 2008 9:13 am

I don’t know Rats but I am always Dew so get used to it.

  9. Cynddl on July 17th, 2008 9:25 am

    @Asara

Legionkiller has never really be a viable BM hunter weapon, or even MM/SV for that matter. The agility is nice, but it just lacks too much else.

As it stands, The Crossbow of Relentless Chicken Pecks is THE best weapon in the game passed only by the Legendary, really, and rivaling Golden Bow of Quel’thas.

  10. Anonymous on July 17th, 2008 9:30 am

Why do you always have different names in WWS?

  11. WB on July 17th, 2008 10:03 am

I always love seeing piles of skeletons on the floor in a screen shot. Just makes me laugh. Our first kill of Gorefiend was a couple of weeks ago, and we had to reposition the SS so as to minimize the enormous pile of bones clustered around the spot of our previous 5 wipes.

We also have a great screenshot of the Naj’entus area with piles of bones, right after wiping three times on the Trash elementals from the next room.

Gratz on the kills. The first 4 in BT are pretty smooth – Supremus might be the most challenging just teaching people to run the right way and not stand in anything that will kill you.

  12. Arudar on July 17th, 2008 10:08 am

Very nicely done. My own raid community is at a similar position to yours – 6/6 SSC, 3/4 TK, 2/5 MH, and, as of last monday, 1/9 BT. The same question has also surfaced (at least amongst the leaders) – will we get to Illidan before the expansion? I’m pretty optimistic about it, though it still makes me one of the rare people that would be quite happy for WotLK to be delayed a couple months. Heck, I want to step foot in the Sunwell before then too.

It’d be interesting to know whether you guys are going to spend the time and effort on Kael, or concentrate more on progress in MH/BT.

Contgrats to you and your guild BRK. Very cool…now keep on pushing.

  14. Pike on July 17th, 2008 10:12 am

    Much grats!

  15. Rhust on July 17th, 2008 10:25 am

wow! mad props! and big grats BRK!

  16. Irwin on July 17th, 2008 10:56 am

    Gratz on the kill!

And as a rogue who wants the Warglaives but will never get them, it’s Illidan, not Illiden!

  17. Mandragerin and Felix on July 17th, 2008 11:06 am

What addon are you using that gives you a numeric value to the boss’s health?

  18. Eisenerz on July 17th, 2008 11:19 am

Nice job AC on the boss kill. Personally, I would be happy getting into Gruul’s again…

  19. 2ndworst on July 17th, 2008 12:01 pm

@BRK grats (+hit on Harbringer is da shit when you get more T6)

    @Cynddl
no, it depends on your setup …. I take a dps loss by using the CoaS. For hunters at this point in time, you cannot say this or that is best, because you don’t know what the rest of us are wearing.

LK is a very good SV weapon btw. To say it’s not means as SV you don’t understand your roll.

    but it’s your $15/mo …. so w/e

  20. mwahahah on July 17th, 2008 12:23 pm

    *grats* ^^

  21. Aboo on July 17th, 2008 3:00 pm

Congrats! Speaking as someone who is desperately trying to drag his guild through Kara and despairs of ever seeing Gruul’s Lair, I envy you.

After probably 3 months of trying we’ve finally got a solid group together most weeks and have been able to proclaim up to Curator on farm and made two attempts on Prince two weeks ago. So maybe, just maybe, we’ll take him down one day…

Netherspite however, I highly doubt. :P

  22. kunukia on July 17th, 2008 3:36 pm

    Happy times!

@Aboo I have done a good few Gruul and Mags (But have never won the darn T4 legs! ##%*!@), only a couple times to the first 3 Kara bosses and once to the first couple bosses of SSC. I feel your pain, it is tough to want to go so much, and can’t.

My guild has a good association with another small raiding guild, so I COULD go, but I just am not able to focus for more than an hour and a half at most. :(

I hope in WotLK there are also some shorter raids so I can do some end game there.

  23. Nick S. on July 17th, 2008 3:40 pm

    nicely done.

i killed leo the blind on my hunter for the first time last night. man, i can NOT keep my pet alive on that fight. i even tried parking him behind me in hopes of saving him for the inner demon phase, and he’d STILL get the bleed, even when i didn’t!

    grrarr.

anyway, congratulations on the naj kill – he’s a difficult fight to teach; that first kill is a tough one.

  24. Bikutanda of Nazgrel on July 17th, 2008 3:57 pm

    Congratz to AC!

  25. Thar on July 17th, 2008 6:03 pm

BRK – Our guild raids 4 nights a week, 3 hours per night. We killed Kael’thas for the first time on 2/27 and focused primarily on MH and BT since then. Last week we had our first full day on Illidan (our first Archimonde kill was on 5/2). Took us about 4.5 months to progress through Hyjal and to the big boy on the top of BT. This is probably an average progression for a guild that raids 12 hours / week, and gives you some idea what you guys can do! I’m betting you guys will see him, given that the expansion might not be out till early next year.

  26. The Wild One on July 17th, 2008 6:34 pm

I’m resigned to the fact that I will never see the inside of anything past SSC/TK. MH, BT, and the Sunwell are nothing but pipe dreams since my previous guild self-destructed.

    *sigh*

I keep meaning to start hunting for a new guild, but I really haven’t had the ambition. I think having people I called good friends suddenly start acting like total asshats soured me on group play.

  27. Moka on July 17th, 2008 7:38 pm

Wow, congratz on the kill guys!
and i wish u luck on the next runs, i also hope u down illidan before wotlk and make a nice post about that! :)

  28. Chromaoran on July 17th, 2008 7:48 pm

Gratz on Naj. I was zooming around on my level 16 Lock and noticed you guys having fun in there. The Aimed Shot effect goes through the bubble which is good if you get it off a bit late. Makes the fight a lot easier and you don’t have to bring a ms warrior :D

  29. Anonymous on July 17th, 2008 8:09 pm

BRK! Whats with the new spec and i see you have a good amount of pvp gear on you?

  30. Munsen on July 17th, 2008 11:37 pm

First off grats on the kill, secondly, I have been wondering why BRK is ALWAYS above the other hunters… Its cool, and mad props to the short red guy, but are the other hunters not bm? I assume one could be surv, but honestly if your not in t6 there shouldnt be that much of a gap, especially with pvp gear and badge gear as accesible as is, are they lacking in hit? are thay using a bad macro? or do they just die alot? I would really like to see you guys slam through bt and hyjall, unfortunately the only class i really know how to play is a hunter, anyway, free to offer advice, and again, grats on the kill.

  31. Niniel on July 18th, 2008 3:59 pm

    Hi and congratulations!
Nice going getting him down on your first evening!

Now good luck on the rest of the encounters! Just as a reference, we entered Black Temple on March 24:th and killed Illidan on the 7:th of July. I’m guessing you’ll be getting Illidan down in October, early November :)

Inspecting your UI I also wanted to thank you for the idea of splitting loot and other event based information from the raid chat. We don’t use any voice comms in our guild when raiding and silly me hadn’t even thought of doing that split. It certainly makes everything more clear and easier to follow.

  32. honorshammer on July 22nd, 2008 9:34 am

Whether are not you make it to Illidan will largely depend on how much (many) Heart(s) you have.

What I mean is the biggest time sink is farming up the Hearts of Darkness for the Shadow Resist you need for Mother.
