We’re not on the beta, but this hunter is. Notice his croc has cast Bad Attitude to “snap back” at everything attacking him, grabbing the aggro of the entire room. Every “76″ is the pet attacking a target that hit it.

Freaking cool, and we bet our friend Irwin the Croc Hunter is drooling right about now.

    Oh. My. God.

Well, survival spec with a croc just became my guide to “how I’m going to be leveling to 80.”

  2. Triage on July 25th, 2008 8:35 pm

    so. way. cool.

/e waits for the uber imba CRAB talent!

  3. JD on July 25th, 2008 8:57 pm

I don’t know about leveling, but it would sure be good for farming low level instances.

  4. Nick S. on July 25th, 2008 9:26 pm

not letting me into the beta is understandable, but not letting BRK in? unthinkable!

my rogue buddy is fuming after watching that vid. :-)

  5. Higgins on July 25th, 2008 9:28 pm

You aint just whistlin’ Dixie brother!! Who needs a Tankadin when you’ve got a Crocadin?!

  6. Bel on July 25th, 2008 9:31 pm

Holy crap, hunters now seem semi-viable in dealing AoE damage w/explosive shot and scaled-up volley.

Blizz keeps hinting that mages are going to become even better at AoE in Wrath…considering the numbers in that vid, I can’t wait to see the new mage AoE numbers.

  7. Indi on July 25th, 2008 10:28 pm

What the video also showed was that you can MD each explosive shot! (watch and you can see the “misdirect fades” message before he casts volley).

“You aint just whistlin’ Dixie brother!! Who needs a Tankadin when you’ve got a Crocadin?!”

I Be Damn! WotLK seems will be awesome for Pets. That Croc got a real “Bad Attitude”, my Kind of Pet. Hell I’m a Tankadin and want me a Crocadin so he can AoE just like me. lol

  9. Sade on July 26th, 2008 12:03 am

I can almost feel bad attitude being nerfed.

Explosive Shot looks awesome, though (this video has quelled completely any fears I had of it being yet another piss-poor survival tree cap), and news of a buffed Volley makes me so effing happy.

  10. Kinlap on July 26th, 2008 12:36 am

No wait, Crocolisk, Explosive Shot, and Volley aren’t gonna be nerfed. Other classes will cry that we will not only get our pet improved for tanking, but also get a dramatically improved AOE dps with our already amazing single target sustained dps.

OMfrikinG …… that’s like the mages of old ….

  12. kunukia on July 26th, 2008 12:49 am

Hmm, I might have to try a croc now..too bad, because I hate their noise.

  13. Telwar on July 26th, 2008 12:58 am

Yes, Irwin mentioned a few days ago that he was, ahem, “pleased” with crocs having something to do.

He’ll be “ecstatic” when he sees this.

  14. Lee on July 26th, 2008 6:10 am

I wonder what other pets will have this “bad attitude”, who says its only crocs. :P

  15. Manawa on July 26th, 2008 7:08 am

OMG – an army of two!

  16. rehnkvist on July 26th, 2008 8:18 am

as nice as this is (and i play a hunter…), they had better nerf it… with the CD and duration of Bad Attitude as it is, combined the BM talent to reduce pet ability cooldowns by 30%, you’ll be able to get nearly total uptime for BA. considering that the current duration is somewhere two minutes, that is just too long. warrior’s equivalent ability only lasts 30 seconds and is on a 30 minute CD. granted, it deals weapon damage, but still. a 30 second BA on a 3 minute CD is fair, and it is what bliz should do.

    ///

someone mentioned crab abilities: it is pretty sweet. Pin, 6 second DoT that also roots the enemy in place. 20 second cooldown. unfortunately, it takes 80 focus, but think of this: dash takes 20, and pin takes 80. crab dashes, pins an enemy. 6 seconds when you can burn down a rogue in PVP… with a 30% reduced cooldown, you only have to wait 8 seconds until you can do it again, if you can get his focus back up to 80/100.

That looks so beastly. I’m glad I’ve converted to Survival! (sorry BRK!)

  18. Trackhoof on July 26th, 2008 9:12 am

If the QQing by Marks Hunters wasn’t bad enough about Explosive Shot not being in their tree… they’re gonna be over the moon about it now.

I may need to dump one of my pets for an Crocolisk named Handbag.

  19. BRK on July 26th, 2008 9:37 am

wonder what other pets will have this “bad attitude”, who says its only crocs.

    Blizz does.

    Check this out: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?pets

You’ll see that every pet-class gets a unique ability.

    Cats = Prowl
    Bats = Sonic Blast
    Hyena = Tendon Tip
    and Crocs = Bad Attitude

  20. mwahahah on July 26th, 2008 11:03 am

We need a post about hunter pets in WotlK! :3

  21. Chuque on July 26th, 2008 12:20 pm

Okay, so as it sits I’m gonna have a pet in each talent tree. But I really really want a hyena. I was barely able to resist the cackle and the bright pink, I’m not sure I can resist Tendon Rip.

  22. Higgins on July 26th, 2008 8:07 pm

LMAO! I’m glad Galoheart thought my initial post reguarding ‘crocadins’ was funny enough to quote and lampoon. His is a great blog btw, and taught me scores about my own tankadin through his writing. Thanks Galo! Keep up the great work!!

  23. shandar on July 26th, 2008 10:49 pm

Thats not a Crocadin, Thats a Tankalisk!

  24. Jet on July 27th, 2008 3:17 am

Great. I have a Netherstorm Croc for ages, just wishing for a cool skill for him, finally have to let him go,and now this? lol. I was hoping for a croc skill called “Deathroll”. That would have ruled.

  25. Skarlarth on July 27th, 2008 11:56 am

    Wow, just wow.

I have had Dundee since level 18 in Loch Modan.
Now my patience and pig headedness has been rewarded!

(Prays) Please stay in, please stay in, please stay in!

    Skar and Co.

  26. Jack on July 27th, 2008 2:43 pm

I really don’t see Blizz keeping this as is.

They want Hunter pets to be able to tank better but that is just crazy.

  27. Irwin on July 27th, 2008 10:14 pm

Oh baby! It’ll make taking lowbies through SM Cath much easier =). Thanks for the movie, BRK!

  28. T-Sonn on July 28th, 2008 8:50 am

OMFG that was awesome! I’m in Beta, I can’t wait to try out some of the new pets!

  29. yunk on July 29th, 2008 8:59 am

One way to stop this is to make Bad Attitude only do damage if the mob actually damaged the pet. I’m sure those mid 30s mobs are not even hitting. Of course that would be silly since it would only affect players trying to kill low level mobs, so why bother. They’ll probably put a max number of mobs affected.

So will crocs be the aoe tanking pet or carrion birds? One difference is for crocs to build threat they have to be hit by the mobs, carrion birds’ screech will build threat even when not hit. And of course you need the BM talent for crocs to keep their ability up all the time (with the current cooldowns on petopia).

Actually it looks like they are adding threat to the gorilla thunderstomp, though even talented it is only every 40 seconds. Not sure that’s often enough, I’d really like thunderstomp to be every 10 seconds and do 1/6th the damage.

Currently my owl is my best threat producing pet. I am sad he won’t be anymore. I guess it’s just pixels though.

  30. Skab on July 29th, 2008 11:04 pm

This is pretty cool and all, but keep in mind he’s at least 35 levels too high for the instance, geared in epics, and SM Cath is about the only place in the game you can pull that many mobs at once. It doesn’t seem really overpowered for anything other than farming lowbie dungeons.
