BRK: Can you make a post for me? (sends nothing but two extremely familiar screenshots) Feel free to put TJ is awesome in there somewhere as you see fit.

Blizzard really DOES love us! It’s about time we got this. I’m hoping for at least two more slots, so I have room for my Devilsaur, my Crocolisk (even with the Bad Attitude nerf), my Bear, and any others I find that I enjoy having.

  15. Pidge on July 30th, 2008 3:22 pm

Can’t wait to see that one word expanded on :)

Interestingly, in the comments to a same-topic post on Mania’s Arcania blog, Akussa has a screen shot of the inventory screen where you can summon vanity pets and mounts and pointed out there’s a third entry called “companions.”

Could that be what Ghostcrawler’s alluding to????

Wouldn’t that be Christmas in July!!!!

  25. Bricklethumb on July 30th, 2008 4:37 pm

If you saw one of the latest posts on WoW Insider on the vanity pets and mounts it shows a tab for pets. . .Yes pets.

So I was thinking, all this time they where saying NO we are not planing on giving you more stable slots was true, and instead, stay with me, they make it like the new mount and vanity pet system?

Either way, this is SUCH good news. Except the exotic pet part for only BM.. *ducks and grins*

    Love you all.

  26. yunk on July 30th, 2008 4:43 pm

I worry that he only means we have 1 more slot now because we don’t need to keep one open while leveling to learn new skills. So we have 3 instead of 2. Which would also be it.

I hope they do though. I need…. 12 slots please.

But … I was thinking of leveling another hunter up before WOTLK, to try more pets out. Hmm

Pidge, Currently “companions” are things like quest helpers, like the orphan for the orphan week is a companion. So companions are already in the game. It just probably gives you a nice place to put those whistles so they don’t take up inventory space. But hmm they have a pet slot. I can’t see the screenshot but if it’s more than 2… maybe they’re getting rid of stablemasters too. That would be also awesome.

(The orphan used to say minion I think, my lock used to run around all year with the orphan out pretending it was her demon, until Blizz made the quest items despawn.. no idea why they did that )

    It’s not going to happen.

If it does..well, im happily wrong

  29. WarcraftMom on July 30th, 2008 5:32 pm

About time! I mean look at all the “pets” that warlocks get.

  30. Rokisha on July 30th, 2008 5:38 pm

I’m heard that the 3 pet thing was Hard coded into WoW. I’m hoping that What Ghostcrawler said was true.

  31. Rilgon Arcsinh on July 30th, 2008 6:24 pm

This is extremely surprising, given that we were told for AGES that it was not possible due to a HUGE overhead on their SQL database if they were to add even one more slot.

I mean, I’m happy, for sure, but I sincerely never thought I’d see it.

  32. Slep on July 30th, 2008 7:14 pm

Companions are what non-combat pets are now called. Things like Mojo, mechanical squirrel, mana wyrmlings, etc. This “name change” was made a patch or two ago.

Now seeing the Pet tab on that screen gets me excited for summonable pets. I kinda doubt it though – they would still need to be stored server side due to spec and the actual pet name. I am guessing 1-2 more stable slots, with a bank bag type system where you have to pay to gain access to the slot(s).

  33. Brissinger on July 30th, 2008 7:34 pm

    I hope he’s serious….i really hope he’s being serious…..I can’t be responsible for what I’ll do if he ISN’T being serious…

  34. Kinzlayer on July 30th, 2008 7:55 pm

I will be happy if we are given the ability to have more hunter’s pets like we have non-combat pets and mounts. I wana catch them all… and be able to “summon” them would be nice but I doubt we will get it like warlock’s summoned pets. I will be happy to settle for some sort of larger stable but it’s still a pain to have to run back into town to pull the other pet out if current one have just level to my level for instant.

  35. The Dude on July 30th, 2008 8:01 pm

“I worry that he only means we have 1 more slot now because we don’t need to keep one open while leveling to learn new skills. So we have 3 instead of 2. Which would also be it.”

    Here you have your answer.

Grats… now thats an Epic drop!

  37. Brissinger on July 30th, 2008 9:01 pm

    @The Dude

I don’t THINK that he would answer like he did if that were the case. However I’m still only cautiously optimistic that we will be getting more stable space.

  38. WB on July 30th, 2008 10:26 pm

I’m gonna agree with The Dude and Yunk.

You get to keep three pets cause you don’t have to train up new pet skills from the wild. So 3 is a 50% increase over 2. There you go. Yes, you’re welcome.

Someone also suggested it’s the most epic troll post by a blue, ever.

With our luck, an earnest Blizzard employee is now feverishly programming slot machines into the stables….muttering to himself

“if hunters want slots so badly, we’ll give them slots”

  40. Lougara on July 30th, 2008 11:46 pm

    I doubt this.

    Too good to be true.

we’ve been asking for at least ONE slot for- HOW long now?

  44. Euripedes on July 31st, 2008 3:42 am

Blizzard is making huge changes this expansion, far more than the last one.

Is it really so hard to believe they’d increase stable size?

  45. Nefernet on July 31st, 2008 4:37 am

Sorry for a second comment but there have been another blue post…

  47. Rotseh on July 31st, 2008 5:48 am

What’s more, there will likely be no need for stable masters anymore. Pets will be integrated into the new mount / companion UI. This would enable us to switch pets on the fly.

    24. Re: Bigger Stables pls!! 07/31/2008 12:22:37 AM PDT

There are 2 additional slots in the stable.

Integrating hunter / warlock pet management into the new mount and companion UI has certainly come up already. Let’s give the new UI a whirl and see if it works and then we can consider if it makes sense to integrate the stable or anything else into it.

I’m really starting to get excited about the changes coming up in Wrath. Now only if they will let us tame something that has scales, wings, and breathes fire/frost/poison with that shinny mysterious beast master talent . . . that the programmers don’t know what they are going to do with.

    Ok-

    More stables slots = greatness

Ability to “swap” pets at will = even better greatness

Double spacing after periods = obvious greatness

More stable slots AND the ability to swap pets at will = words can’t describe the uber-greatness of that possibility.

All Gnomes officially being changed to Non-Combat Pets = :o )

FYI—- As I stated before the 51pt BM is worthless. So a 41-25-5 will be the cookie cutter build going forward. (or 45-20-6) or whatever your CC is… :)

I wanted to clear this up since it is understandably causing some confusion.

All pet tiers cost 3 points to advance. There are no talents that cost 5 points. In the beta some tooltips may say 5 but only 3 is enforced.

Most importantly this means that there are not talents that are available only to BM hunters. They can get more talents – that’s all.

Furthemore, the exotic pet abilities while interesting are just the same kind of unique abilities that every pet family gets, like web or prowl.

Hope that clears some things up. :)
