BRK Worm Movie
Worms. Sure just makes us freak out about being a hunter, no?
Yeah, no. Not. As in, who would want a worm?

LOL everything you do is funny, BRK. Incidentally, the aesthetics of the worm leave much to be desired, no? Now the Tenacity Tree.. that’s quite something! Thanks for the review!
Oooh Tenacity looks freakin’ cool. I might just have to bring the ole’ hunter out of retirement for Wrath after seeing your reviews.
Great stuff as always. Really made me laugh.
Me! I want a worm! I want a Jormungar, the new worms in Northrend (which we have not yet seen in these movies). Mania had a picture, they look awesome.
Awesome… Just AWESOME!
That was highly enjoyable. But I have a challenge for you… Durn the Hungerer!!! Now that is a worthy opponent for Worm. Would prolly require all your Hunterskills and petcooldowns, but it would be plain too cool if you did it. Or better yet, kited him to A’dal.
Wow, that’s really something!
Eh…it’s sort of cute…maybe…if you squint your eyes…
…thanks for posting this though, especially in light of recent events
Your videos are always a treat.
Tenacity tree sounds bloody awesome!!!
Hey, I’m excited about worms.
so with the 40% buff to healing recieved, it sounds like a tenacity pet could do some serious tanking, even perhaps in a raid setting (OT). If you stacked mend pet, rejuvenation and renew on a pet, they’d be taking in massive heals every tic.
MMMMM, tanking pets…..
I hope they fix the range issue that the worm has at the moment so that he will go to the proper range and fire. I don’t think he looks that bad, in my opinion he looks better than the serpents that we currently have. Although I would like it if they changed the moving animation so that he/she slithered across the ground. Better yet, it would be neat if they had an ability that allowed them to “dig” their way to an opponent. Sort of like a warp but maybe not an instant jump.
i saw 3400-some xp pop up there after one of them elite kills…
seems like mebbe soloing elites becomes sort of feasible for leveling hunters, eh?
ok i have more questions.
how much armor reduction are we talking about? if it’s, say, 200, that could be a pretty serious dps boost to the raid, assuming the armor reduction applies to bosses.
OK BRK I want to see this same thing done with out your T5 gear.
(For those who didn’t listen or do not know, his armor auto heals his pets when he does damage.)
Not all of us have made it into the higher lvl raids yet. So, show us these same pets with a more “average” gear set if possible.
How does the worm swim? Wind serpents have a great swimming animation, maybe worms do to.
As you saw, we had to buff-up and wear PvP gear in conjunction with our 2xT5 set bonus to take that last guy. This isn’t easy stuff, (pardon us if that sounds conceited).
If you’re asking us to prove that a level 70 hunter in quest greenies and a Tenacity pet can solo this stuff, we’ll tell you now that the answer is No.
But do you think any hunter in T5, T6, or anything else can solo those demons without losing aggro or the pet dying? Heck no, our pets just can’t hold aggro as well as Tenacity pets can.
WotLK’s pet talents are changing our power significantly.
I would want a worm. I would name him Squiggly.
i’m excited for jormungar worms :’(
no love for the worms brk? lol
p.s. also silithids, wooohooo
Serpents used to have that ranged bug with Poison Spit in the early BC days, but they eventually fixed it. So I wouldn’t worry too much about the Worm/Chimera issue. ;D
Really enjoyed the video by the way, Tenacity looks insanely awesome. I’m tempted to try out a Worm (one with the awesome looking skin from Northend). Mmmm, fun times ahead.
Looking forward to the Silithid movie! I know you have one in the works… hehe
Thanks for clearing that up in your comment BRK, i was going to ask what the hot’s where above the pet. so even though you have x2 T5 set bonus, you just showed us that the pet can hold the Aggro… not necessarily survive the attack.
I caught you on the Wowinsider show, and was amazed. The enthusiasm, the knowledge and the plain optimism about your class was awesome.Being an MT warrior myself,i cant really relate to the hunter class that much, except that i dislike the “flappy” pets:-) (purely for the annoyance,if a flappy pet helps to bring the pain, then bring the pet!)
But to see someone go in for their class, same way i get into mine is awesome.
Oh and i like your movies.:)
Keep on Huntering….
Etheral,Shadowsong EU
I caught a Tundra Crawler in borean tundra.
I’m quite pleased with its aggro generation as ive been levelling in beta. This will likely be the pet that gets me to 80 when wrath goes live.
I really like the skin for these. They do have a swimming animation similar to the windserpants.
You’re the only Alliance member that I wouldn’t hessitate to /salute. You my friend are awesome! Thanks for the WOTLK videos.
While I realize it is not really the issue at stake, those mobs can be soloed in “normal” gear at this point. However you certainly can’t just tank and spank with your pet. The smaller ones are freezable, so you can just wear them down by freezing them most of the time and keeping your pet healed up. The big boss runs slow so it will chase you indefinitely in cheetah till it finally dies from serpent sting and arcane shot. (I actually soloed that entire quest sequence as a relatively fresh 70 hunter, took some attempts and a ridiculous amount of time.)
Needless to say though, especially since I did it the old way, the video is very, very impressive. Thanks for all the great wotlk stuff!
Holy shit BRK dude. Thats pretty nice.
Lucky me, i am also on the european beta but did not really have a lot of time yet to play around. Farming and Raiding you know, takes quite some time…
Just got to 72 and did quite some quests on northrend.
Maybe T5 2 pieces and new mend pet can hold it up.
But this video is really kicking ass, i’ve of course seen the pet talents but did not really test them out like you do. I now gonna look for a 72 worm to tame and will head back to Durn in Nagrand
When he jumps, does the tail always point to the right?
Come to that, does it always point to the right when you’re not holding W?
I believe the acid spit debuff stacks up to 5 times and reduces armor by ~2100 total.
Well well … i totally failed killing Durn. Just hits quite hard. I even buffed myself up and the pet. I skilled everything in BM that could support my pet with the very last %dodge etc.
But still, Durn just hits the damn pet to hard. I am lvl 72 hunter and my pet was a 70 worm from borean tundra. It got like 7.6k life and 16k armor (somethin around 57% dmg reduce).
Maybe some lvl 77 or 80 Hunter with better mend pet and a pet with more life could solo him. I only managed to get to around 42%
But speaking of tanking, i am going back to try the fel reaver in hellfire
Watching the vids and I notice on the combat text phrases like “Targeting you” and such popping up.
Is there a built in “Omen” in the beta?
So we have a giant lizard,
a giant three headed monster,
a giant moth,
a giant worm creature.
Have we joined world of Godzilla?
Bring on the Kaiju!
Hedora (Smog Monster) looks kinda like the swamp lords
Rodan would be a Pterrodax
Battra would be a bat, of course
I want a tame-able Manda (Oriental Dragon)
Ah now that post was VERY interesting to a player like me - almost strictly solo to 70 …who still knew next to nothing about playing a hunter until I wandered upon BRK’s superb blog
(I enjoy Airman Howell too).
I have never played arena or been a raider beyond Kara pugs…. but I still have fun.
Part of the fun along the way has been to go back to group quests and mobs that I had once failed to solo. Just to see if I was any “stronger”. Lacking raid progression or arena ranking, the resolos were my only tangible measure of progress.
So when BRK mentioned PvP gear in the solo PvE setting….
Yep. In some recent efforts, I barely failed with my best (modest) PvE items equipped. So, for experimentation’s sake out went my shattered sun pendant, in came my guardian’s necklace….etcetera. Succeeded.
The demons BRK tackled are very tough for sure; but I have soloed em both without Tenacity. However my pet did die both times….it took me a little kiting at the end to finish em. And it took me a fair amount longer than it took BRK. Tenacity does look like fun for players like me.
In Nagrand, I would suggest Tusker as a very stern Tenacity test. Durn just too durn tough; though I am certain 80s will be able to handle Durn easily.
One other point that everybody already knows. I should be used to it by now, but the differences between “elites” continue to amaze me. There are 63 elites that are MUCH harder to kill than many 70 elites. The number never tells us much of anything.
WTB
BRK and Worm vs Durn Movie.
wheis the silthid movie goin up?
could you please tame a new saberworg (the new wolfish goreish animation in wolfs) and show how tuff it is?
BRK,
Have you been able to do any of the entry level Northrend quests and compare the XP gained to any Netherstorm or SMV quests you haven’t finished yet?
I’m looking for an alternative to Mass Extinction Zones come the first week of expansion going live. MEZ would suck bad even with 2 different starting zones. If I can finish my Nether/SMV quests all by my lonesome and still get good XP I’d love it.
@ Papaoomowmow & Vistol
not to distract from the awesome-ness of BRK and his wormy friend but you dont need a tank’in pet to take out Durn, Heck i went back a few days ago to try him out cause he was one of the many mobs had needed help with to kill. and i was surprised how easy he was with me and my Kitteh. So i am sure tenacity pets will help and be awesome but it is still possible to do this stuff with “current” pets
Did the 40% to healing buff stack with the healing caused by your Tier-5 2-piece set bonus?
/castsequence reset=14 Mend Pet, null
Is a nice macro for Mend Pet, once you click it, you can’t click it again for 14 seconds allowing you keep it up constantly. I use 14 instead of 15 so I can keep it up constantly.
wouldn’t clicking it early cause it to lock you out for another 14 seconds?
@Zwigle
You soloed Durn (without kiting back to guards)?
/salute
Big Red Worm FTW!!
sounds scary though
have you checked to see if the new cloak buffs (lightweave and such) will help with our mana or add the holy damage to our specials or is that only true mana users?
nice vid as always
As always, I love your use of sarcasm in your videos. Great job!
Woo! Hell Yeah!
Worms…..!!!!!! (!)
Right, one thing I like about the worms, is that you could call your worm Snake! THAT WAY, people would be like: “Hey, you have a GIANT snake!” And then you’d be like: “Yeah, and it spits!” And then people would be all /scared and stuff..
Right?
Maybe?
Anyway, i’m glad you’re being impartial, BRK… I’m sure worms will factor well in WotLK… especially for those wacky Night Elf hunters who just want to be different to everyone else…
…. oh wait.
Nice Movie!!
Keep it up…
PS: Where’s the PayPal Donations link?! Am I being blind?
In the movie I’m seeing autoshots fire off mid-cast of Steady Shot .. is that what they mean by fixing the clipping?
And if that is what is happening, do autoshots continue to fire off during other casts, such as Aimed Shot? I wouldn’t expect autos during Revive Pet or Volley (though that would be a nice bug to have .. unlike autos during Tame Beast).
Can we see a BRK movie experimenting with auto clipping? Ideally with a side by side comparison with non-beta (ie. go shoot up the same target in the beta and in not). Throw in various other specials too, like tranq shot, just to seriously mess up the shot rotation. Dr. Boom awaits.
@Nick S.
Yeah, it will cause Mend pet to be ‘locked out’ but thats the point, so you don’t waste mana.
You know, without getting into the rest of the “stuff” about the movie, I have noticed in your last several Beta videos, that some of our core animations have been updated. I have noticed the new Misdirection animation several times. However, this video featured a red snake head animation over your head that lingered for a bit.
Would it be possible to give us a short informative video of the changes and additions to the ability animations?
Buahaha, I’m chuckling out loud to myself here, watching this vid as you call that thing Mister Worm… It’s a barrel of LOLs right there.
I’m so jealous btw, your DPS is SICK compared to my quest items and leatherworking-wearing orcess, and Mr Worm still holds aggro despite you’re 5 levels above him… That’s crazy.
It’s so hard to choose pet now, for ferocity I’m sure I’ll want a debilsaur (because they just look like they’re ready to chomp apart anything and everything), but tenacity pet is much harder. I have a turtle which I’ll never abandon, and I want to test bears as well, and this here worm looks awesome and its ability seems great for extra aggro and improves both our DPS as well… Lucky me the stable got made bigger because it looks like I’ll need it!
