Let’s investigate just what kind of cool pet-spells are coming our way in Wrath of the Lich King, shall we? We can do a little demonstration, a little song-n-dance, whatdya say?

And furthermore, let’s start with the Cunning tree.

Please download the YouTube-sized (44MB) movie here, and the full-sized (169MB) movie here.

Do you want to play with a Cunning Pet-Talent Tree yourself? WoWHead has you covered.

I dont know about you, but action bar slots are already at a premium for me lol. I hope they extend the pet bar a couple slots.

Thanks for all the beta info :)

Carrion feeder has a very small Range: Try positioning your pet nearer to the corpse.

I clicked on that link in the second post, and my virus siren went off. BRK, can you remove that post?

Carrion feeder only works before looting the corpse perhaps?

Just out of curiosity BRK, I notice that whenever the cooldowns on your pets abilities are ready, they do a nice little explosion of the symbol outwards, a nice little visual indicator that the cooldown is up. That’s not Perl doing that, is it? Is that something that was changed in the Beta with Wrath, or am I just a blind fool who missed a cool addon somewhere?

    Nope, that’s OmniCC.

How does pet happiness correlate with loyalty? Is there pet loyalty still? We all know increasing loyalty to Best Friend is a pain, but necessary to get all the training points, but in WotLK, are new pets (if they are “happy”) as strong as ones that have been around for a while?

    We’ve tried both ways. Nada.

    Is there pet loyalty still?

    No. Which is awesome.

We’re level 70 with a level 70 Chimaera. Ding, we hit 71. We can chose to level our Chimera to 71, or just go train a new level 71 Chimaera. Since there’s no Loyalty, there’s no penalty.

    Don’t know why; it’s just WoWHead…

Was your pet at full health/happiness? It could work like taking a potion, your pet would gain nothing from it, thus would not work.

Weird. For some reason my Avast does not like that page…

I have a Chimera too, and I have never had problems with carrion feeder, which is odd because all the other hunters I talked to said it was bugged.

    Cunning stunts!

Hey, Big Red Kitty, you’ve made a video for a Devilsaur, a worm, a Silithid, a Chimera, and a moth. There is 1 brand-new pet that you haven’t talked about at all. Awesome eagles!

  16. Vurag on August 22nd, 2008 1:07 am

Maybe the reason Carrion Feeder wouldn’t work was because the first 2 times you maybe got the killing blow and your pet didn’t? Sounds most likely. Or that your pet ‘tagged’ the mob? Who knows, all I know is I want a Chimera.

Yep, avast! still thinks there is an evil Gnome trap on that page, I cannot figure out why!

BRK, a couple of the blog trackbacks have exploits on their ad partners… specifically, thegameoflove.net. Whether that blogger did it on purpose, or it’s just their ad network that has nasty content, could you perhaps clear them?

  19. kunukia on August 22nd, 2008 2:42 pm

MyrddinE is my son, he said I just used the wrong terminology to express my concerns.

    Great stuff as always BRK.
Quick macro hint: You can shift click a spell in your spell book to automatically put it into a macro. I do this out of habit to avoid typos and such.
