We Had an Epson MX-80 Back in the Day
We’re pretty amazed at the diversity of opinions on the our attempt at a podcast vamp. We are impressed that, technically, we were able to make Garageband do what we wanted.
On the other hand, we’re not grunge or heavy metal. That intro won’t stay.
On that same otherhand, we’re not bagpipes, either. Yes, dwarfs are Scottish, but this is a Hunter Blog, not a Dwarf Blog. If we happened to be a Troll, would we have to play calypso? If we were an Orc, would we have to play… um…
We’ll stop there lest we offend.
Anywho, one thing was made perfectly clear: our voice wasn’t very clear. Our microphone needed an upgrade, foshizzle.
Bam! It’ll be here Friday.
Next, our Worm movie made its debut on WoWInsider. Lots of really nice comments, but one that said, and we paraphrase, “Why didn’t you use a Mend Pet macro instead of spamming it and looking stupid?”
Well we didn’t use a Mend Pet macro because it has never occurred to use to use one. We’re BigRedKitty, not Einstein.
Shillara on Hellscream decided that we needed a little bit of help and sent us a really nifty Mend Pet macro:
#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=15 Mend Pet, null
First press, it casts Mend Pet. Then, since the second spell is “null”, the icon dims and if you press it, nothing happens. After 15 seconds, the length of time Mend Pet is cooking, the macro resets and the Mend Pet icon is nice and bright again. If you don’t have a UI addon that does buff cooldowns for you, this is a very handy way of keeping track of your Mend Pet spell. +5 BRK Cool Points to Shillara.
Isn’t it always the case that the best macros are the short ones? Kinda like hunters.
Tomorrow will hearld the arrival of the Big Orcapalooza Scavanger Hunt List. All the stuff for which we’ll award points for finding will be given. So fire up the old 132-column dot-matrix and be prepared!!

That very same macro’s been on your own forums for months…
Hey BRK, I heard a pretty favorable review of that mic on the Daily Giz Wiz podcast.

When soloing Elites I usually hit it with Serpent Sting, which lasts for 15 seconds then pop Mend Pet which lasts for…15 seconds.
Oh look, Serpent Sting is about to wear off. Reapply it and…cast Mend Pet.
Hey! That gives me an idea!
/cast [modifier] Mend Pet
/castsequence reset=5 Serpent Sting, Mend Pet
Beautiful
Just use the ? Icon and Bob’s your uncle
Believe it or not, I just look to see how long the Mend Pet buff has left…
I recently switched to Dominos for my actionbars (highly recommended, btw) and it highlights active spells in green… that works for me, too.
I feel uncomfortable using a Mend Pet macro that might cause me to lose critical Mend Pet ticks.
Orcs is a very cosmopolitan people. We likes all sorts of music.
‘cept them Warsong Ninnies. They only listen ta polkas.
I thought everyone knew that null macro? o.O I’ve been using it for like a long, loooong time. O.o
I use that same macro, except I keep the timer at 14, not 15. If you’ve got the lightning reflexes to hit it immediately, great, but otherwise you’ll lose a bit of overlap.
/agree with ngthagg
i would much rather lose the last tick of mend pet than mistakenly not having it up at all
“gosh golly i thought i was mending that pet” /target teenager /cast revive pet
@ Rotseh
in BRK’s defense, perhaps his cooldown monitor add-on is not working properly with the beta client, prompting the need to look for an alternative, like this
Am I the only one having problems with this macro? Maybe it’s bartender-related, but occasionally, my button is staying at the exclamation mark indefinitely. Annoying as hell.
Generally, I would like a timer addon as long as it would:
a) display ice trap cooldown as well as ice trap (untriggered) duration as well as ice trap (triggered) duration. I have too many addons already, so I don’t like BRK’s KHT/Cooldown Timers solution.
b) is an ace addon. I have too many addons already to update them manually.
[...] posted a really handy Mend Pet macro (courtesy of Shillara on Hellscream). One of the things I hate about Mend Pet is that I never know [...]
If you have an itchy trigger finger and hit it again before the reset timer is up, this macro locks you out of Mend Pet for another 15 seconds. Might that be your problem, Raij? Here’s how I changed it:
#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=15/shift Mend Pet, null
That way, if you hit it prematurely and lock yourself out, you can still hold down shift and hit it to manually reset and cast Mend Pet immediately.
