    Any hope of a Podcast-only RSS-feed?
I keep getting pictures and what not in my podcasting-client(Ziepod)

Glad to hear about Rake. . . I was not looking forward to stabling Minxy.

Using iTunes, feed it fine for me.

Loved the episode, keep them coming.

  5. DarkSentinel on September 20th, 2008 6:56 pm

You mentioned the Rake example on a level 18 pet, and that the pets will automatically learn new ranks (yay). Is this in the pre-Wrath content patch, or the expansion?

    And yes, awesome podcast.

  6. Skulane on September 20th, 2008 7:55 pm

I laughed at the end when ya played that Statler and Waldorf clip. Bravo BRK

  7. kunukia on September 20th, 2008 9:49 pm

    That was fabulous. Best yet.

You only lost my interest when you did the math, just because I don’t care about the math, only the final must-have number. I know there are many that love the math, so I will allow it.

  8. Screech on September 20th, 2008 10:28 pm

Great episode! I as well didn’t fancy the math portion, I think that a paragraph or two to accompany your podcast posts will more than satisfy the mathletes here. ;)

Thanks for answering my question as well!

Hey BRK I love your podcasts but I can only listen to the one on the sidebar for some reason I always seem to have trouble otherwise. And this one isn’t on the sidebar and it is the 3rd one. Also great job on all your movies can’t wait for your next one.

Great episode, BRK! I really appreciate your insights and advice on the hunter class, they’ve been a real blessing since I’ve returned to my old hunter main (created the launch day of WoW!) to level her through BC! It’s helped me improve my gameplay, which is a good thing for all involved! :3 So, thanks a bunch! Keep it up!

Great podcast. Hope you keep making more for a long time to come. :)

Quick question, though. You mentioned some great tenacity pets, but you mentioned any pet will hold agro well enough for a BM hunter. For the BM hunters, since they do hold agro well enough, is there any other advantages/disadvantages to choosing a ferocity or cunning pet? (Ie. make kills faster, can’t handle swarms, etc?)

  14. Storm on September 21st, 2008 8:11 am

BRK’s pick out of the AOE tank pets?
LEveling issues aside, do you prefer Gorilla or Bear?
    A 3-target focus-costing attack, or a multiple-target no-focus 1min cooldown attack?

  15. HunchbackNun on September 21st, 2008 9:23 am

I liked the math. Keep it up. However I’d like to know the magic number for a Survival Hunter that has Surefooted, yo.

How can Lupos, Brokentooth, and the ZG bat be left of the top 10 pet list of all time? These pets (especially brokentooth and the bat) lead to the pet normalization patch. I miss the days where pets with 1.0 attack speeds would eat casters.

  17. BRK on September 21st, 2008 9:58 am

How can Lupos, Brokentooth, and the ZG bat be left of the top 10 pet list of all time?

Lupos is a Wolf and Brokentooth is a Cat, foshizzle. We’ve totally got ya covered, there.

Bats, specifically because of the ZG Bat, were in a race for #10. But it was our opinion that the Tallstrider beat them out.

The Master Marksman change was not a nerf, it was a buff. The Haste is useless, the mana is invaluable. ;)

    And pfft, I don’t need a mammoth, I’m getting a motorcycle. ;)

  19. Thelastdeadmouse on September 21st, 2008 12:21 pm

    @Storm

In the most recent build the Gorillas Thunderstomp has been reduced to a 10 second cooldown, the same as swipe, hits all nearby targets, deals much more damage than swipe, and generates extra aggro on top of that. Its fantastic. Gorillas are now the daddy of the mac daddys of tanking pets.

The damage will probably get nerfed but hopefully they’ll boost the extra threat generated to compensate. A properly speced gorilla with a properly speced hunter is now a legitimate AoE tank. Me and Bubbles are very happy.

Hey erm just a quick point on teh math for hit raiting.

your working on the assumption that boss mobs etc are level 83 but blizzard has stated that boss mobs will not be 3 levels above us in order to take crushing blows off the table this helps make death knights viable tanks.

if u check a few tanking sights youl see this mentioned

  21. Snarl on September 21st, 2008 3:13 pm

Does the mammoth go 280% speed, or something like that? Why the urgency to get one of those? So I can haul people around? Horray?

  22. Grimbert on September 21st, 2008 4:23 pm

    Woohoo !! I’m in a BRK podcast !!

    *little nerddance*

And I’m allready thinking : 295 hit rating.. whoa momma !!

See alot of haste out there, not a lot of hit on the ss of naxx set/hunter loot.

    But again, we shall overcome.

    thanks a bunch BRK !!

blizzard has stated that boss mobs will not be 3 levels above us

Anybody show us this and what mechanic we’ll be using? Anyone? Bueller?

  24. Grimbert on September 21st, 2008 5:10 pm

Oh, btw : Someone on the forums said that pet hit rating would get some of our own??

Can anyone confirm this? Would be ok to be able to drop 2/2 Animal handler if they finally changed it

  25. Rilgon Arcsinh on September 21st, 2008 5:52 pm

blizzard has stated that boss mobs will not be 3 levels above us in order to take crushing blows off the table

Actually, this was done by moving the Crushing Blow threshold to +4 levels. Raid bosses will still be level 83. :)

I really tried to look and see if you added a “Podcast Response” forum on your forums, but alas … I did not see a dedicated place to respond other than here so here goes…

Mammoth Mount … If it was Mountain… I’d be there (gotta love good skiiing). However, 16k+ for a mount is not gonna happen for 98% of people. Especially early on in the expansion. Most people will be using money to gear up, level up professions, and some people will even be going out to buy their toons that Epic Flying skill that a HUGE number of people still have been holding off.

Money Making … I do not agree with your “sell everything” idea you are proposing. Sure that if you are a hunter and a leatherworker such as myself, you may have a lot of mats. Selling them for money may be your first thought, but remember the top skill recipes are going to level you a decent way before they top off. These materials are essentially “free” to you. Sure you don’t get the money now, but if you want to power your skill fast, using the materials you have in your bank will be a decent way to go.

Pets … Your comments on the level up from 65 – 70 are a little premature. The 3.0.2 patch “should” go live soon (I still believe in the next 2 weeks) and if and when it does, leveling a pet to cap pre Wrath should not be too difficult.

  27. Tin on September 22nd, 2008 6:41 am

You mentioned in the podcast that 51/10 should be *the* starting spec once the patch goes live. The 10 pts being 5/5 Lethal Shots & 5/5 Mortal Shots is something of a no-brainer…. but any suggestions as to how to best spend the 51 in the new BM tree? reasonings for & against various options would be handy… it’d be a good starting point for those of us without the time to spend toying with stuff on the PTR (and I for one would much rather have the whole “whoa! shinies!” experience when I finally get my hands on WotLK instead of pre-empting it with the beta)

Excellent ‘cast tho! Always on my “must-listen” list.

    - t.

  28. Peloquin on September 22nd, 2008 8:32 am

You mention at the start how awesome bears are now for being able to hold 3 mobs, yet give no love for Owls/Carrion Birds in your top 10?

If you want an AoE tanking pet, you can either wait for the expansion, or get a bird and have a perfectly good AoE tanking pet today.

You’re also wrong about Warpstalkers. The little buggers are so ugly they’ve run back full circle to cute. Look at that little smiling face and try not to love it!

Other than that, very good podcast. I agree about the math, I’m also a ’skip to the end’ kinda guy when it comes to that, but I understand other people are into it so it’s cool.

  29. Traz on September 22nd, 2008 11:59 am

‘Mahna Mahna’ song….. a great choice, well done.
I’m almost too embarrassed to admit that when I first heard the song in the seventies I rushed out & bought the Muppet album with my pocket money (I was only a little kid!).

Another fantastic podcast BRK. Keep ‘em coming. We can’t get enough you know ;)

Thanks again BRK! Great podcast but pace yourself. I will download every one as your content is soooo good. Just don’t feel you need to produce every week as your quality surpasses other podcasts already.

  32. Lerta on September 22nd, 2008 1:56 pm

    Leatherworking, best hunter prof indeed.

New patterns out? Just a thought. Could we get a “mount” item like those cleaver engineers?

Say a Canoe = 50% movement speed increase over water, and great for fishing. :D

  33. Boomsville on September 23rd, 2008 1:33 am

ZOMFG that Outro was AWESOME!!! Laughed my arse off!
    :-D

    Keep up the awesome sauce!

    http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8557065994&pageNo=1&sid=2000#7

apparently still in teh game but not at teh end game since you should no longer see a boss mob listed as 83 blizzard seem to think of this as an old mechanic and have implimented other features there are more posts but im at work :(

  35. Phourc on September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm

Noob question: where can I find these new leatherworking patterns?

  36. Anonymous on September 25th, 2008 1:24 pm

BRK I love your podcasts and blog, I find them very informative as a long term hunter. However, I must object heavily to the shameless promotion of gold making guides of any kind. These guides offer nothing out of the ordinary that any player cannot find through free sites, the wow forums or general gold making blogs. I understand that an undertaking like this takes time and effort, but I would prefer you didn’t focus on what I consider to be leeches.
