Bullet Point List FTW

1. Did you hunters who acquired Tier 6 actually replace your Tier 5 for the Steady Shot bonus? Did you miss the Tier 5 bonus, like with crying fits and sobbing into your pillows? We’re really curious about this.

2. There are hunter-trinkets all over Northrend.

3. We are 13 1/3 bars into 75. We cannot do a Spirit Beast movie until we hit 76. Patience.

4. Our non-commercial commercials shall continue. We think we do a very nice job of eschewing gold-selling and power-leveling ads, so a little fun that provides a product some people find handy shouldn’t upset you too much. And we might be bringing a new advertiser on board soon.

5. We will not be on the WoW Insider podcast this weekend, but we are scheduled to join the Video Game Outsiders podcast on Tuesday, October 7th.

6. Our next secret project has commenced.

7. We have not replaced any of our gear, except trinkets, in Northrend.

8. Gorilla laid the smack-down in UBRS until we got to the first boss that requires three people to summon. We started collecting helpers, then the server crashed a bunch of times and we got locked out of the instance.

9. The quality of quests in Northrend is high. The quality of hunter-loot is… frankly crappy. No Intellect at all.

10. A lag-free server makes a happy Rhino. His Stampede is fun against one mob, but giggle-inducing against a pack.

11. An instant shot that does high damage and prevents healing should not be called Aimed Shot. It should be called Plague Shot.

12. We need 400 WotLK pre-orders at the Waterford Lakes GameStop to guarantee a midnight opening. They have 200 as of Thursday, September 25th. More on this to come.

13. We have had Kung Pao Chicken, extra spicy, extra peanuts, for lunch three days in a row. We’re not upset, quite the opposite.

14. Core Hounds got left in the dryer too long; they’ve shrunk. This is not good mojo.

15. If Blizz doesn’t fix the “Cower is On!!” beta-bug soon, we’re gonna get uppity.

16. Mammoths went up to 20,000 gold. Must be the cost of teleporting them to Dalaran. Mages gotta eat, right?

17. The level 80 Tauren warrior wearing a pumpkin helm while riding a motorcycle looked like… well it’s just not “dignified”. We’re not sayin’, we’re just saying.

18. Death Kniggets got a new flying mount model. Still looks like a dead rubber chicken. Hard to be scared of class riding something our dog wants to use as a chew toy.

19. The new Sylvanas model makes us want get our dwarven @ss on Slimfast. Where’s the Ironforge plastic surgeon?!

20. We found the pattern for the 28-slot ammo pouch and danced a fine jig. Then we remembered we’re using a crossbow and shall be doing so for the considerable future. /phooey

“Our next secret project has commenced.”

Makes me really curious now, seeying as the preview secret projects where great (forum, podcasts).

    Hail to BRK!

See, there’s the rub… I’m only pre-ordering from a place that has ~already~ commited to having a midnight opening…. Me and my friends have never done a midnight opening and are pretty stoked about it so if we pre-order from WL and they only have 300 or so orders then we’re SOL. Know what I mean?

Yes and no on the T6/T5 issue.
I always made sure my “farming” outfit had the two T5 bonus going.
I raided for a time with two T6 and one T5 and it wasn’t a problem. With so many chain heals flying around I didn’t notice any real difference.

I ended up being able to equip two of each though which at least feels a lot happier :)
(T5 legs, chest; T6 helm, gloves)

  4. Nick S. on September 26th, 2008 8:57 am

I’m raiding T6 now, but I only have one piece of T5 – it makes me crazy! There are so many fights where the pet-healing bonus would more than make up for the small drop in stats from my BT/badge gear, but it’s not to be.

We are going back to SSC tonight, perhaps I’ll get lucky on some T5 there.

  5. Weezoh on September 26th, 2008 9:04 am

New aimed shot = Snap shot

  6. Corwyn on September 26th, 2008 9:12 am

    Dude,

That’s a numbered point list, not a bullet point list…

No, referencing ammo pouches doesn’t count.

    :-)

    > 16. Mammoths went up to 20,000 gold. Must be the cost of teleporting them to Dalaran. Mages gotta eat, right?

Stingy bastards can’t put down a table? Dalaran is just like AV then. ;)

  8. Rilgon Arcsinh on September 26th, 2008 9:25 am

Already noticing point 9, and I’m not even 71. Icky.

  9. Morquendi on September 26th, 2008 9:47 am

All our raiding hunters dumped the T5 for T6 as soon as they could get the steady shot bonus. Its just not worth the loss of DPS and, frankly, the 2piece bonus won’t actually keep your pet alive beyond Black Temple anyway…

With the extra three set pieces in Sunwell, its possible to keep both bonuses but the DPS loss is pretty high and there are non-set pieces that are better than the T5 bonus.

However.. the more important question is whether BM is fun enough in Wrath to take the DPS hit vs Survival for leveling ! I’ve got a beta key but haven’t done much leveling yet… been working on L80 raids with the premades.

  10. Cloudbearer on September 26th, 2008 9:57 am

I’m rocking the T5 bonus right now. Unfortunately I only have the legs and shoulders so it’s hard to replace. I’ve even turned down the non-T6 BT shoulders that drop to keep the bonus (and to save DKP). I don’t know if my guild will see Sunwell, but we’re 8/9 BT now, and the T5 set bonus still treats me well. I imagine no matter what upgrades I get, I’ll be using that bonus to level in the expansion.

    Greatest set bonus ever!

  11. For the Pie on September 26th, 2008 10:43 am

OMG 20k for the mammoth. /nelson laugh at Fikkle and Syy at 4thehorde.

Give up the mammoth and let’s level alts. Besides you all know that the Power Team will Rock

  12. For the Pie on September 26th, 2008 10:56 am

When I was raiding, the heal bonus was nice to keep the pet up during AOE type damage, it’s just not enough to keep a pet up during direct raid damage. BM hunter pets would normally catch a heal here and there because they were important to the raid damage.

My plan was to replace them for bosses mostly but during trash and grinding/questing etc, go back to the T5.

  13. Hanhar on September 26th, 2008 11:17 am

Poor Core hound. Still have to get my hunter to a decent level. Looking foward to and at the same time not so much the new equ that comes with WotLK. but new places sounds like a blast

  14. Avaric on September 26th, 2008 11:26 am

Hee hee, I totally agree with number 10. Nothing makes me giggle like sending my Rhino into a pack of mobs and watching six or seven of them get knocked all over the place.

  15. Ihlos on September 26th, 2008 12:22 pm

/agree on the Rhino comment, its like mob bowling.

All we need is a pack of mobs on a straight street lined up like bowling pins and you’ve got yourself warcraft-movie-gold.

    ~.^

  16. Ionutz on September 26th, 2008 12:32 pm

I joined my current guild when they were on trials for Vashj and Kael, we killed them, moved to BT and never went back, so no T5 for me :( And no one does SSC anymore… Wish they would allow future tier tokens to be used for buying old Tier gear. Seems like the only way I’ll see T5 2-piece set bonus.

  17. PepsiJedi on September 26th, 2008 12:39 pm

Man BRK your game stop sucks. You know they’re making their own rules, right?

I live in upper MI, we have one game stop in about 500 miles, One walmart and one target. Our gamestop sold out of the collectors editions and just 2 days after the ‘release date’ landed they confirmed that they were having the midnight event.. if our piddly little gamestop (( I’ve had bathrooms bigger than this place)) is having a midnight event yours can. Those guys are just lazy and don’t wanna get out of bed or something.

Hope you get it though. Good luck!

  18. Hag on September 26th, 2008 12:50 pm

Is 16 vs 20kg a price change or the annoying habit of people using buffed costs without saying so? e.g. 20000 retail is 16000 with 20% exalted discount, 17,000 @ 15% and people tend to post what it costs them at the time, without mentioning what discount level that implies.

  19. 2ndworst on September 26th, 2008 1:05 pm

lets see …. wear T5 for 2 pc set bonus which is helpfull because it takes so long to kill something in the T5 lower dps mode.

    or

use T6 and kill shit so fast you don’t need healing for the pet.

up to you i guess …. lol

    and ….

    corehounds blow …… lol

  20. Rua on September 26th, 2008 1:40 pm

mob bowling and extra spicy Kung Pao Chicken FTW

  21. ssc on September 26th, 2008 1:45 pm

the tier 5 2 piece hunter bonus is a clutch. no good hunter need it.

  22. Teaakius on September 26th, 2008 2:04 pm

More details on the Waterford Lake pre-order…I’ll add to the list if I’m sure to get a copy at midnight and meet this BRK guy. :P

  23. kunukia on September 26th, 2008 2:27 pm

    1. I never had T5, just some T4 and equivalent, so darn it, please speak to us lesser hunters, and take your T5 off once in a while. Don’t want no elitest kittys.

    12. The one Gamestop in my small Wisconsin town is opening at midnight, and I bet they don’t have more than a hundred and fifty pre-orders. That’s a guess, taking into account how many folks showed up last time, and assuming there were some that did not do the midnight thing. Just saying, your Gamespot sucks. (On a fun note they know all the names of my family, I was in the other day, and the vendor asked me something about my son-in-law, calling him by his first name! I did not even know they knew we were related!)

    6. Looking forward to whatever nifty secret plan you have!

  24. Nick H. on September 26th, 2008 2:42 pm

    1. It kills me all the time, not having the healing from my t5. And, I enjoyed the 4 set bonus too, until I started getting more t6. To be honest, I waited until I had a couple of pieces of t6 before I switched over, just because it would have cut into my dps. Although, now I have 4 t6, and I don’t think I’ll ever look back.

The only real exception to that, is when I begin leveling in wotlk. Hopefully I’ll have picked up some of the sunwell pieces, so i can rock both bonuses, and have a good time doing so. =]

  25. Cauthon on September 26th, 2008 2:49 pm

The T5 bonus is quite nice, and not worth trading for the 2pc T6 bonus, but the 4pc T6 bonus is absolutely unquestionably superior. Pets generally are okay in most MH/BT/SWP encounters with the right resistances (shadow/fire for MH/BT, arcane for SWP), and chain heals usually take good care of them to the point they don’t even need mend pet.

Once you pick up a few pieces of T6 from SWP, you can have both 2pc T5 and 4pc T6, which is quite handy. Illidari Council is nice to have 2pc T5 if you can do so without sacrificing 4pc T6, but that is just so it lets you be lazy. One of the more skill-requiring challenges in the game for a raiding Hunter is to do Illidari Council without T5 and never have your pet die. It requires good timing, paying attention, and sustaining DPS for quite a long time, often without Judgment of Wisdom up. Fun times.

  26. Cynra on September 26th, 2008 4:05 pm

I saw that someone got a bit cranky with the recent changes to Aimed Shot. He didn’t argue the mechanics of the shot but instead how it was no longer aptly named since the word “aimed” implies precision, which requires time. I thought it a rather interesting argument in light of how beneficial the changes can be. Renaming the ability Plagued Shot fits the bill.

Also, the nice lovely thing about Tier is that there are so many pieces you can mix and choose. I know many people who still wear two pieces of their Tier 5 for different pet-unfriendly encounters while stacking Tier 6 for the remainder.

Once you get the four-set bonus, however, there’s no looking back — at least until you have enough Tier 6 to switch in two pieces of Tier 5 at whim!

  27. Infinitas on September 26th, 2008 7:33 pm

    12. I would be shocked beyond belief if your GameStop did not have a Midnight Launch for WoW:LK. I run a GameStop and have not heard of a single GameStop not doing a Midnight outside of some mall issues. Seriously.. my store currently only has ~50 pre-orders and we are definitely doing a Midnight. I expect to have at least 150-200 pre-orders by launch since ppl always wait til the last minute but regardless we will do a Midnight. It is simply too large a title and a demographic for us as a company to not have one.

On a side note to a previous poster.. it was not just your GameStop that sold out on the Collector’s in 2 days. The Company as a whole sold out Collector’s in 48 hours and therefore your store stopped taking pre-orders on it along with every other store. =)

  28. mudge on September 26th, 2008 8:39 pm

Well I just pre-ordered 4 more copies at the Waterford Lakes Gamestop so that the rest of my family can have WotLK as well. They have agreed to wait till the 15th to get them since I will have to express mail them to N. Carolina after I wake up. I just hope that if the store still refuses to open at midnight, BRK will agree to meet me somewhere, sometime on the 13th so my 2 hr trip to Orlando is not a complete bust.

“14. Core Hounds got left in the dryer too long; they’ve shrunk. This is not good mojo.”

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The size of them was one of their best factors! How bad is the damage? Can we get a screenshot? What about Devilsaurs?

  30. Storm on September 27th, 2008 12:40 am

Ive had T5 shoulders and pants for a few months now, and i’m with you BRK, the set bonus is godlike. I cant even begin to imagine what it’ll be like with a Tenacity pet muwhahha.

I’ve had T6 gloves for a while now, and i just got my T6 shoulders last week.

So i’m currently torn between set bonuses.

With my Int of ~320 the T6 bonus gives me an extra ~16mp5 in AotV. Thats really not alot to write home about…
Whereas the T5 bonus has proved invaluable in keeping my pet alive longer in raids where melee take damage.
So i think i’m just going to keep the T5 in my bags and break them out for fights where they’re needed.
Of course if we get Illidan down soon i’ll be able to get the chestpiece and have both set bonuses running at once :)

On a related note: Has anyone heard anything about any changes they’re making to the T6 set bonus with the upcoming changes to AotV??
Coz if they leave it as is, it’s going to be even worse…

  31. llwynog on September 27th, 2008 2:06 am

TBH i only have the one piece of t6 but i dumped the t5 in favour of the damage upgrade and i’ve never looked back… i found that if my pet was going to die then it was going to die (during raids) and the bonus didnt make much of a difference, i just learned to manage my pet properly in a raid environment instead of leaving it in stupid places trying to scrounge more dps and hoping the t5 healing would keep it alive.

  32. Stephf on September 27th, 2008 5:34 am

Cower bug and Core hound shrinking is effecting the PTR as well…
Sylvannas model? Bout damn time!! Plague shot sounds good too. And no Intellect makes a unhappy hunter :(

  33. Seryth on September 27th, 2008 10:59 am

replaced t5 for two t6 (soon 3 or 4) and some non set drops (pants from azgalor and kazrogal shoulders(love em))

not sure if i can get the swp t6 items before wotlk comes out(first boss is going down this id (i hope^^), but im trying to go on 4 t6 and 2 t5 for questing in northrend

if i wont get the 4 t6 bonus together with the heal bonus i think i will take the t5 bonus over t6, but have to wait how good the bloodthirsty ferocity talent is, i dont want to quest in northrend before its going live and grinding on our single laggy eu server sucks

  34. WB on September 27th, 2008 11:23 am

I wanna see a movie of Rhino-bowling. Come on, PLEASE! Send that rhino charging on 5 mobs and let those of us outside the Beta see.

Even a Screenie of 5 mobs hurling into the air would be awesome.

  35. Higu on September 30th, 2008 1:27 am

Hey BRK I went to the Gamestop at Waterford to pre-order my copy of Wotlk. They said that they only needed 300 pre-orders to do a launch party. Unfortunately I was apparently only the 201st person or so to preorder so there is still a way to go but I’d definitely check again to see if that 400 figure was right
