It’s Hemet’s Trophy Gun and it’s ours until the beta ends. This is the first real piece of gear we’ve upgraded. Nice, nice weapon. If pressed, we’d say that it’s a little too “skully” for our taste, but just hearing gunshots again… /sniff
The GLDC understand, oh yes we bet she does.
So what does a Tier 5-bedecked hunter look like in WotLK beta? Here ya go. Get ready to say bye-bye to your crit.
You may ask, “Hey BRK, did you put a scope on that beta-gun?” Well yes we did. It cost 2400 gold.
No, you do not have to spend 2k for a scope for your first gun-upgrade to not have your hunter-license pulled.
But it sure was fun.

So, what’s it like playing a cat in the beta? Did rake do anything to bring them back?
Is that Humar the Pridelord? Such fond memories. Humar was my first pet that I kept on a Horde Hunter I started before I switched to an alliance PVP realm.
Well for the crit that’s pretty normal, BRK need to give Dr Boom some love to level the gun

A haste scope?
I was under the impression that haste was a fairly lacklustre stat for hunters in WotLK, due to us being haste capped on everything but autoshots by the GCD. Is that haste scope still better than the +15 damage one, or the old +28 crit scope?
I’m also a bit curious if you have tried any raiding at 80 as BM. Most sources seem to indicate that it’s lagging behind MM and survival, but at least one poster at EJ have showed some impressive numbers as BM. It seems like those results are an effect of some crazy pet scaling with raid buffs where the pet ends up doing well over half of the hunters total damage. Somwhere along the lines of 1800 dps out of 3500 dps

BRK isn’t 80 yet so I doubt he’s raided…
But, my question is: what was your crit at 70 in the same gear you have on now (minus any upgrades)?
I notice you have a bunch of pvp gear on (ring, chest, possibly cloak…) in that screenshot, which generally lowers your crit chance significantly.
So what’s the story, exactly what was your crit % at 70 in your current gear… except for the gun of course?
I would bet the 21-22% range.

a quick glance at the armory shows that BRK’s unbuffed crit on live is actually almost 27%, meaning that just leveling without replacing any gear has dropped the percentage almost 10% — a huge Fing decrease.
I’m thinking this means that prospective survivalists are gonna get to play the “most gear-dependent hunter spec” game again in the xpac…

Kinda look like LK went back to the 2 ap for one point of agility standard, but nerfed agility’s contribution to crit.
It’s good to be able to relax and spend some time “worrying” about crit and ap in VERY SERIOUS economic times…..

Actually Russian Roulette investments done by the country’s five largest investment banking firms at 40-1 leverage starting in 2005…. and only one of those firms still stands in previous form and ownership….and the crazy infection spreading to the broader commericial banking and financial sectors. With millions of dominos teetering….essentially the same thing that brought down Orange County about 14 years ago…just on a MUCH larger scale.

I’m surprised at everyone’s shock over BRK’s decreasing crit. First, crit is determined by a mathematical formula, where crit is inversely proportional to level. Crit has *never* increased with level (except for the minor increase in agility). Second, BRK’s crit is lower in the Beta than a typical hunter will be in Nov because he is not doing instances, which where the best loot is located. And finally, BC gear being inferior is a good thing, since the alternative is paying money for the chance to run old content for gear.
Remember people, it’s not having amazing stats that makes the game fun. (Otherwise we would be spending hours staring at the Armoury.) It’s *getting* that gear!

That is somewhat correct.
The agility needed per crit scales with levels.
Agility needed per 1% crit for hunters:
Level 70 = 40
Level 80 = ca. 83
Hmm, 484.7 dps is very disappointing for a level 77. My BM hunter on the PTR has 500.3 dps and he is still level 70. I guess you didn’t stack much haste?
