The Emergency BRK-OOM Gnaked Gnome Race is On!!
The mysterious and frequently deceased Bothans have come through again! BRK-reader Dave S. wants to generously donate his unused Wrath of the Lich King beta key to a good cause. We totally convinced him that BRK Worldwide Amalgamated is such an entity.

The corporate hacks at BRKWWA have also conned the owner and proprietor of OutOfMana, yes Megan herself, to put down her weapons of war to participate in the shenanigans.
Date: Saturday, October 4th, 2008.
Time: 8:00pm EDT
Server: Drenden, US
Rule 1. Fire up a level 1 gnome, any class, either gender.
Rule 2. Do not equip any gear not given to you as you spawn.
Rule 3. Do not leave the starting area; gain no XP of any kind before the start of the race.
Rule 4. At sound of the starting gun, race to Booty Bay, Stranglethorn Vale.
Rule 5. You may only run. You may neither be ported, summoned, nor be given any assistance of any kind to avoid the terrain and its inhabitants, and no corpse-running.
Rule 6. Our fearless and diminutive co-hostess will be The Finish Line. She will be conveniently located at the end of the pier in Booty Bay. The first person to open a trade with her Wins the WotLK Beta Key!
Rule 7. The winner does not win 20,000 gold. No. No gold. Just a beta key. Stop with the rumor-mongering.
Rule 8. The winner most definitely does not win anything to do with Megan. /glare
Rule 9. Do not abuse our co-host. That’s a warning. We abuse her enough for everybody.
Rule 10. This will be the last BRK Event before the xpac arrives. Come join the fun, if for no other reason than to see 300 gnaked gnomes running amok!

Maybe this doesn’t mean what I think it means.
I thought corpse running, means heading to the spirit healer of the final zone, and rezzing there, not at the place you died.
So, in that case, you should rez at your body.

I would think in the spirit of the race, no use of gnomish technology is allowed, i.e. no Tram. And if the definition of corpse running BRK is referring to is the run forward as ghost to next spirit rezzer to miss those nasty nasty hidden kitties in the badlands no longer works. You will always rez at the spirit rezzer your original corpse is closest to. I know this because for the last 2 years on new years day me and a bunch of friends have done a run from newbie gnome area to swim in the fountains in Darnassus with a full run down to Booty bay, and a run up from Ratchet. We will be running the bulls this year, opposite way from Thunder Bluff to play in the pretty elves fountains.

Nice! Brings back memories of being shot out of the cannon. I’ve taken that little gnome up to 32. Looking forward to another race.
So basically it is a gnome race from SW to BB…..who in their right mind will not use the tram. The rule of the tram should be….you can use the tram tunnel but not the tram itself.

This particular type of corpse running no longer works, you will rez at the “correct” GY that is the proper one to rez at no matter where you attempt to rez it’s a decent fix. However you can move forward a decent distance if you know the GY “zones” because they have added GY to the game.

The ‘no corpse-running’ rule is completely valid. I know that in-game they’ve tried to fix it so that you can’t just run via spirit state to any GY and repop with res sic. But they failed.
If you die, and run to a seperate Spirit Healer, log out and log back it, you’ll get repoped at the new locale.
I’ve used this trick several times on lowbie hunters to get pets from opposing factions zones.
I guess the rule also includes not to abuse GY-location, i.e. running into a zone where you know that the GY is on the other side – so you die and rez at the GY so you don’t have to pass that zone.

So, I understand no logging out at a far away spirit healer, but what if you die and just happen to appear at a spirit healer closer to the goal? Can we rez then? If so, I imagine people will be testing just how far they need to run to be able to die and appear at certain graveyards. The rule should be revised to “No Spirit Healer Rezzing of any kind” or something like that.

Someone asked already, but I didn’t see an answer — is rezzing at the Booty Bay graveyard prohibited? I would guess so, because that would too easy to skip a large chunk of STV (and why would a level 1 gnome wanna do that?
).

What if a gnome dies, finds herself at a GY closer to Booty Bay, and decides to use the Spirit Healer? Is that legal?
And, I’m almost afraid to ask, how will this “no corpse-running” rule be enforced?

Level 1 characters do not incur rez sickness anymore… just durability gone (see http://www.wowwiki.com/Spirit_Healer).
The previous BRK runs have been “No Spirit Healer Allowed”.
I believe this run is intended to be the same.
I am seriously debating if I should call off work for this lol I really want to be a part of this I’ve watched the Video of the first Gnaked Gnome Race so many times and to hear it will happen again I wish I could join lol I hope next time I can know of the event soon enough to request off work
QUESTION: Where is the actual “finish line” going to be in Booty Bay?
SUGGESTION: Would you set up a GnomeRace channel so we can /join and coordinate our assault on Orgrimmar and for getting race updates?

Bah! you guys stole this from us! rofl, we’ve been racing lvl 1 Gnomies for a year now every month…. but to Booty Bay?? pfft thats not a race, that’s a cake walk…. we race them to Ogrimmar then storm in. Of course you have to log out so your corpse hangs around till the Tues morning cleaning crews come in. Nothing like 50 dead naked Gnomies scattered around Ogri for a week.
