Whisper from Betahunter1: “BRK DID U GET A SPIRIT BEAST YET!?! LOL!!”

/sigh

Whisper from BRK: “Nope, not yet.”

/fly to Spirit Beast Spawn Point 1

Hmm. Nope, not here again.

Betahunter2: “Yo! BRK! Did you get a Spirit Beast yet?”

/sigh

BRK: “Nope, not yet.”

/fly to Spirit Beast Spawn Point 2

Annnd no.

Betahunter3: “Hey BRK, love the site. When are you doing a Spirit Beast movie?”

/sigh

BRK: “As soon as we find him. He’s a rare spawn and isn’t playing nicely.”

OK, let’s get a Turtle and do that movie.

/fly to Borean Tundra, nab a turtle, fly back to Sholazar

Betahunter4: “BRK, I see you’re in Sholazar. Looking for the Spirit Beast?”

/sigh

BRK: “We just checked, and we’ll check again soon. No Spirit Beast yet.”

Shell Shield is easy enough to demonstrate, but how to show Intervene…

Betahunter1: “BRK! I SEE IT! I SEE THE SPIRIT BEAST! LOL!!”

BRK: “Which spot!”

Betahunter1: “IN ZULDRAK!!”

/sigh

BRK: “I’m sorry, but the Spirit Beast only spawns in Sholazar. I don’t know what it is you found, but it’s probably one of the new cats and not a Spirit Beast.”

Betahunter1: “OH, UR RIGHT MAN. LOL!.”

What were we doing? Oh yeah, Turtle Movie. We’ll have to do a macro for Intervene…

BetaMage1: “Hey, are you the real BRK?”

BRK: “I’m not imaginary, if that’s what you mean :)

BetaMage1: “No, do you write the hunter blog?”

BRK: “Yes, I have a little blog about hunters.”

BetaMage1: “Cool! I send all my guildies there.”

BRK: “You’re gonna make me blush, thanks.”

BetaMage1: “Say, when are you going to do a Spirit Beast movie?”

/sigh

BRK: “Working on it now, just waiting for the {bleeping} thing to spawn.”

Intervene. They need to know that it self-casts on the pet, not the hunter…

Betahunter5: “BRK, what do you think of Scattershot moved to SV?”

BRK: “I think the bigger question is, ‘What happens to SV hunters who lose Readiness?’ Readiness is for trapping, not Chimera Shot. The whole dynamics of the MM and SV trees are whacked, and while MM seems to really suffer, what are those SV hunters going to say about losing their on-demand trapping? Not much good, I’ll bet.”

Betahunter5: “Does Readiness really not affect Bestial Wrath?”

BRK: “I’ve never tried to make a BM/Readiness build as I’m not level 80 yet, but I’m definitely going to try it out before ruling out the possibility that these two spells don’t play nicely. If they don’t, we’ll be submitting a bug report ASAP.”

Betahunter5: “When are you doing a Spirit Beast movie, anyway?”

/sigh

So BRK, how’s that Spirit Beast movie coming along? :D

as of right now in the current beta build, readiness does not reset bestial wrath.

I, for one, love the change to Readiness. After being the red-headed step child of a talent for the last.. how long?

Readiness needs it’s day in the Hunter sun.
I’m sure that even Guy would agree to that. =)

    Make it happen Devs.
3 TBWs inside a minute and a half?
    Yes, please!

Oh BRK….. readiness isn’t about on demand trapping. We SV hunters used it in raids to get multiple MD’s up on the tanks and get many many rapid fires in.

If you really think that readiness helps with trapping, you really need to go and spend some time playing survival. An ability with a 5 minute cooldown doesn’t really help with your trapping except in very dire circumstances.

Please stop describing the SV tree as the “kill me if you can” or “trapping masters”. In terms of a raid, I am a walking, talking always-on Berseker’s Call trinket. +300 ap to all physical damage dealers including hunter pets.

Your a victim of your own success BRK but just watch out. Next is the Paparazzi! In all honesty, great job BRK.

Now to us fans. Let’s all give him some space to do his thing. Let’s not overwhelm him in game or out and we will all benefit from his insight. Now to the more important issue….

How’s that Spirit Beast movie coming along? Lol.

Thanks for all the hunter goodness BRK!

Anytime the great “Peanuts” are featured you get uber XP from me, yo.

  7. Lienna on October 4th, 2008 2:19 pm

Readiness could be useful for trapping, it was probably more useful for the double rapid fire/misdirects though, that and getting a second chance after a Fd resist.

The thing is scatter shot, it can do the same for trapping, gives you 4 seconds of the ememy moving around like a drunk, which is usually going to be enough to tip the trap balance in our favor, especially since we have the additional duration back to trap mastery once again. It won’t be as fluid as readiness, but its on a 30 second cooldown rather than a 5 min one, so something has to give way. I’ll keep my 2 parts of beast lord gear on me forever, just in case I ever need freezing traps that last longer than the cooldown too.

I think were all more annoyed at the +hit talent going over to MM!

“So when are you doing a sporebat movie?” or do you still regard them as “not win”?

  8. Drotara on October 4th, 2008 3:04 pm

Readiness is for trapping? Really? /facepalm

And no, Readiness does not reset Bestial Wrath. This has been reported and posted a lot already.

  9. Ounitron on October 4th, 2008 3:36 pm

Yeah, the Readiness/BW domination has not yet insued. And what kind of hunter would badger you about the spirit beast? Curs every one… :)

  10. Pinky on October 4th, 2008 6:06 pm

Its not like scatter shot or readiness are out of reach for any tree. 20 points in and 11 points in. Very reachable

  11. Rotseh on October 4th, 2008 11:34 pm

I guess it’s all about your perspective. In raids you will almost never have to trap targets, so there Readiness is all about getting more MDs and Rapid Fires in. In 5-mans or soloing Readiness sure can be used to easily trap more than one target or prolong your chain trapping show. :)

  12. Pike on October 4th, 2008 11:35 pm

Don’t worry BRK. You always have me to whisper you and con you into coming into Molten Core. :)

Well atm I’m raiding BT on my surv hunter ( 941 agi unbuffed, and yes i know its not a showoff, just saying i know what im doing, anyways ) on EU Shattered Halls Alli side.
MD is a “Oh crap” button as someone was saying about it, sorry for not remembering where i red that. Yes we do that to gain another MD up if its needed, but there are also different uses. For example I use Readiness on RoS to pop double detterence while I’m avoidance tanking during the Enrage ( 100% avoidance ftw! Inyourface rogues! ) Also using it when i need some damage burst on bosses to pop second Rapid Fire.
You wont use traps in raids, at least for the reason that your raid leader won’t allow it. Also then you have to spec for it. And that is a waste of talent points.
By moving that skill out of SV tree they {bleeep} up the whole concept of survival hunter imo. Hope Blizz will change they’re mind! Scattershot is good, but it isn’t repaying the damage and imo is more of a PvP tool, ( wich no is replaced by disengage anyways )
And remember, with all the respect towards you. Traps are for 5mans at just-dinged-70 max, after that u just lay a trap in the raid to mb save some healer when a mob brakes CC. No trap talent in raids, no real use for traps in raids that you can trust.

You know, there’s a major advantage to still being a 20-ish Hunter come November 13th; I don’t have to relearn all my mad skillz!

  15. Loneranger on October 6th, 2008 3:30 pm

To clarify, Bestial Wrath and Intimidation are considered pet special abilities. Readiness resets the Hunter’s special abilities. Hence, Readiness does not reset BW or Intimidation. This means that MD, FD, and RF are the only worthwhile talents (in a 50/21/0 build) that are reset by Readiness.

Such is the price of everyone knowing you’re an expert on something.
