Level 78, and the New Gear Arrives

BRK » 05 October 2008 » In Gear, WotLK » 28 Comments

There are eight pieces in the Leatherworking Switftarrow set, and now we’ve made our first two. The bracers are an upgrade from our Bindings of Lightning Reflexes, another leatherworking pattern, and the helm finally upgrades our Tier 4 helm. Finally. FINALLY!

The extra 420 mana? Priceless, we mean that.

If you’re curious, that +114 Attack Power enchant on our bracers is our Emboss recipe as a Leatherworker, the Fur Lining – Attack Power.

And the addon is RatingBuster for WotLK beta, foshizzle!

Edit: New belt, too now.

This is replacing our War Feathered Loop. Nice? Nice. Now we had a better gem in our WFL, so the RatingBuster numbers aren’t going to look right. Don’t fret.

The patterns are “bought”, just not with gold. You go to the Leatherworking Pattern Trader outside the Leatherworking/Skinner market in Dalaran. He’ll trade you these patterns, and others, for raw leather contributions.

And notice how the Ranged Attack Power calculation may not make sense to you Burning Crusade-locked folks? That’s because you don’t have Careful Aim. /oh yeaaaah…

Those look really nice. So 77-78 is about the level that a T4 hunter will begin upgrading gear?

Also, would you recommend crafting the two Lightning Reflexes pieces pre-Wrath? I’ve been eyeing them…

It’s great to see a Hunter Helm in LW Finally. Without Spoilers BRK does the helm look nice?

  3. Jonathan on October 5th, 2008 9:22 pm

So how soon after 3.0.2 will we get the perfect BRK BM spec?

  4. Nick S. on October 5th, 2008 9:25 pm

114 AP is quite a lot to go on bracers. Nice bonus for LWs.

  5. HunchbackNun on October 5th, 2008 9:32 pm

And both are BoE. Pretty pricey on the AH I’ll bet.

  6. Hellyardsown on October 5th, 2008 9:49 pm

I would reccomend the SoLR and BoLR if you’re raiding for the next month before wotlk, if not then I wouldn’t worry unless your shoulders and bracers are kara lvl rogue stuff =P

then again if your rolling in gold it might be worth it. help you level, make sure you have your 21k for your mammoth and cold winter flying tho =P

also… BRK! I have mats for the chest, bracers, and 1 other piece (forget which other one I farmed for >.<) but you logged off =P

so get back online pls =D

  8. Fobok on October 5th, 2008 9:57 pm

These look great. I’ll definitely try to remember those. :)

Any chance of a podcast this week, or are you skipping it?

  9. kunukia on October 5th, 2008 10:16 pm

Something to look forward to. I am almost 74 (two bubbles) and have my level 74 through 77 armor just sitting in my bags waiting. With only 3 pieces of T4 and some other stuff, I am already upgrading.

They’re neither pretty nor ugly; they’re boring.

So 77-78 is about the level that a T4 hunter will begin upgrading gear?

Yeah, that’s about right. We could’ve easily upgraded our helm from SSC, MH, BT, and even ZA, but it never happened. Our bracers are T5-equivalent, but these are upgrades, too.

Nice gear BRK, I’m really looking forward to crafting my own. But one question. Where are the sockets?

  12. Notvalvan on October 5th, 2008 11:26 pm

Just curious, but are the patterns from a trainer or are we going to have to farm the recipes for this set?

  13. Dargonaut on October 5th, 2008 11:36 pm

    Yeah, that’s about right.

Good to know. Most of the accounts of the beta I’ve been reading are from people with (like yourself) T5+ who haven’t upgraded anything pre-Naxx 10 or 25. I’ve been wondering how much longevity T4 has.

I would reccomend the SoLR and BoLR if you’re raiding for the next month before wotlk, if not then I wouldn’t worry unless your shoulders and bracers are kara lvl rogue stuff =P

I probably won’t be, but they kinda are. :) I have most of the mats anyway, which I stupidly bought before prices started plummeting on my server.

So, since I haven’t been in beta, I’m just curious. How long do you think my purty googly eye t6 will last?

  15. Asahunt on October 6th, 2008 12:44 am

I’ve got the gist that it lasts till 80, from Drotara.

  16. Fattybear on October 6th, 2008 12:53 am

    Resilience ? :(
    /cry
    Is this a hybrid pve/pvp set ?

  17. Fobok on October 6th, 2008 1:19 am

Fattybear: Actually, this could very well be the ’starter’ PVP crafted gear mentioned on the beta forums a few days ago.

  18. Dargonaut on October 6th, 2008 2:46 am

I was thinking the same thing.

  19. Steve on October 6th, 2008 3:49 am

Roughly how much raw leather do these trainers want for their delicious bracer buffs?

  20. Rashaki on October 6th, 2008 5:15 am

Don’t worry, uh, Fatty. There’s plenty of nice PvE stuff too. In fact I’m wondering why BRK didn’t go for these:

  21. kunukia on October 6th, 2008 6:48 am

    @Steve
The bracer buffs are a trainer-sold recipe at this point. Three versions, tank, dps and spell-caster. Freaking awesome!

  22. Shagrat on October 6th, 2008 11:17 am

At one point, I was considering dropping either leatherworking to pick up mining to compliment my engineering skill and vice versa but after seeing all the good stuff both crafting professions has to offer, I think it’s time to dust off my long-neglected paladin and get him to 80 first for farming.

  23. mudge on October 6th, 2008 11:59 am

How much of what leathers to buy those patterns … is it stuff I can stock up?

  24. Rilgon Arcsinh on October 6th, 2008 6:57 pm

God I love Careful Aim. <3

Even more so, I love Chimera Shot. <3

  25. Chyna on October 7th, 2008 1:04 pm

So are these sets just BOE for the test relm/beta, only? Are they going to change to BOP (requires leatherworking) once everythign is live for real? I’d LOVE to buy this off AH, but it seems too good to be true that they will stay BOE.

  26. Thuor on October 8th, 2008 5:28 am

Heya, I am wondering what is the addon you use to show yo comparasment stats ???

  27. Rashaki on October 10th, 2008 11:34 am

Chyna: I’m fairly sure that these are the intro level PvP sets, and therefore will all be BoE. All the BoP stuff is epic, I believe.

But don’t take my word for it, I’m just a tailor.
