Great stuff, BRK! I am in Beta, and I still got some good out of this!
Sadly, I cannot play in Beta or live Wow for several days. My vid card is compromised, and I had to order one. Grrrrrr, I am not going to be able to play on patch day!!!! /sniff
Downloading on iTunes now. I’m glad to see that you were just joking about not doing a Podcast this week on WoW Outsiders!
Awesome episode! Love it! I am on the PTR, and am glad you BRK told me (us) to get to the PTR server.
Got a Core Hound i will be my pet in Wrath. Why? Well its a DPS pet, but with its talents its actually a better tank. Self heal, self rez, and with Spirit Bond and its unique Lava Breath, is an awesome pet. I kill lvl 71 / 72 elites with no effort (Like the ogre above Shatt). Love it!
I know this is off topic, and I know I could probably scavenge the wow forums for more info. But I have grown to appreciate BRK’s special delivery.
What do we know about crocolisks?
I snooped around wowhead for a bit and saw the special skill “bad Attitude” and was amazingly intrigued.
Any info would be great
Don’t forget Petopia Evan. A great pet info resource bar none! http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/
Wonderful Podcast this week. However, I must say that there are two parts where I disagree or you’re actually mistaken:
1. 50/21/0 will not get you both The Beast Within and Scatter Shot. Remember that the talents were shuffled a bit and now this spec would give you Readiness instead (which doesn’t reset Beastial Wrath). If you want The Beast Within with Scatter Shot you will have to go with 41/0/11 as a base with 19 floater points. Personally, I’m thinking that 44/16/11 will be outstanding.
2. You must stop telling people that Tenacity pets are ONLY good for tanking. In fact, I’m thinking that Tenacity might end up being the preferred PvP archetype. Think about it. Intervene? Blood of the Rhino? Charge? Last Stand?…. Roar of Sacrifice?! I have a feeling that Crabs will be the pet of choice for burst comps and Scorpids will be the preferred pets for drain comps…
Other than that, great job. It was very informative and will probably help a lot of people who haven’t been on the beta or PTR…
Cheers
We really need a second monitor. Yes, you’re correct.
Tenacity pets are good for more than tanking. They could indeed become the #1 PvP pet-class. However, if you want a pet-tank, you’ll want a Tenacity pet.
“We really need a second monitor. Yes, you’re correct.”
It’s ok. We all have our moments…
“Tenacity pets are good for more than tanking. They could indeed become the #1 PvP pet-class. However, if you want a pet-tank, you’ll want a Tenacity pet.”
Ok, I guess I misunderstood you. I thought you’ve been saying that all Tenacity is good at is tanking, rather than it is the only archetype that is good at Tenacity. Thanks for clearing that up…
Since Tuesday is quickly approaching and their have been many pet changes, could we get an update of this article:
http://www.bigredkitty.net/2008/08/25/wotlk-beta-pet-winners-and-losers/
I know it would definitely assist me in choosing a pet.
What do you mean you can’t pick up Bestial Discipline and Go for th Throat?
I will second the request for an update to the winner and looser pet post. Thanks again for all the great work.
Listening now. You say you want ot see every hunter with a big beefy pet like the devilsaur, corehound, etc.
Anyone know stats for Devilsaurs? How many spawned at a time, respawn times, respawn locations? I have a feeling it could take me days or weeks to camp one, un’goro will never have seen so many hunters as it will next week.
“What do you mean you can’t pick up Bestial Discipline and Go for th Throat?”
He was implying that if you were to go 51 points into BM (for an exotic), then you would not have enough points to grab Go for the Throat…
Petopia does.
Training Dummies… yes we can test our DPS but dummies will be OVERBUFFED with stuff from other players. So… our DPS will be modified/buffed by other people… Am I wrong?
“Remember that the talents were shuffled a bit and now this spec would give you Readiness instead (which doesn’t reset Beastial Wrath).”
As of the latest build Readiness does reset BW/TBW. This should make for some interesting theorycrafting when you throw in Longetivity and Glyph of Bestial Wrath. And great podcast as always BRK.
I’m still wondering if Blizzard ever decided to give our +hit to our pets. I know it was tossed around a few times, but I never saw an answer.
Anyone?
From what we’ve read and experienced, Training Dummies only report buffs, debuffs, and damage from you and your pet. Multiple people can attack the same dummy and not interfere with each other’s damage reporting.
Neeeesh.
That is all.
Um, last time I checked you could get the 51 BM talent and GFTT. I don’t see why they should be mutually exclusive.
Oops. Just realised you meant at lvl 70, not 80.
He was implying that if you were to go 51 points into BM (for an exotic), then you would not have enough points to grab Go for the Throat…
Yeah I was thinking 80 builds. My bad.
Sorry for the negative comment, but could you do also have a regular RSS link for your podcast. I use a zune and that would greatly help. I would love to listen to your podcast, but this is hindering my attempts.
This is the first episode I’ve listened to – and it’s honestly great. I love the short 30 minute version and all the information you manage to cover. It’s like I’m all up to date on what’s going to happen for hunters for the patch. Thank you so much!

Good stuff as always BRK
, i really hope the dummy will still be here in live, they are really good to try new rotation, pet, spec, etc… well Dr Boom will always be here but that’s not the same
[...] Listen to Big Red Kitty’s podcast episode 6. He has good tips on what to do as a hunter! The patch was around a 3 hour download and around an hour or so install. I would have had screen shots but my wife had guests over. She wanted me to help her and spend time with them. Bad timing! I should of told her, “No! We cannot have guests over. I need to download a major patch for World of Warcraft. WoW is more important than your mother.” [...]
