Blue and Gray
The new BRK-look is here. It’s not done; the widgets need some hammering into shape for the smaller columns, and their colors need to be adapated as well. But it’s done!
A huge, massive, cuddly Thank You to Mike Norton at Paravel Communications for his hard work and putting up with our nit-pickiness. Lo! He hath been promoted to BRK VP of Website Design and Backdoor Programming, foshizzle.
From the BRK VPoWDaBP:
“I do hope to offer my services to other bloggers as well as guilds who are seeking a custom web design. As soon as I think its ready, I would love to have you mention http://wehatepugs.com. [It's] a site that I have been working on that provides tools for smaller guilds to set up alliances on their servers.”
Although that site isn’t ready yet, we’ll be promoting it again when he says it is. Now that he doesn’t have to deal with twenty-five emails a day from us, perhaps he’ll have time to get WeHatePugs.com done.
And if we can get him to stop using double-spaces after periods, we’ll consider this a full-fledged friendship.

Looks fine on Firefox (v3.03). Whoops. Yeah Tirth is right about the side bar. Still has a nice look though.

LOVE the blue and grey colors. I learned to spell in a British colony, do not tell me it is spelled gray.

It looks nice, though there is one Major problem I can see right now. The two right side columns will need to be adjusted to allow the frames to appear correctly, since your adds are too large for it I’m guessing.
Kudos for making it Multi-browser friendly though. (though I think there’s something quirky when you look it at firefox. Ah well, that’s the web for you; Neither browser will automatically like what the other does.)
Doesn’t look perfectly aligned on Safari either. Otherwise very easy on the eyes.
Hey BRK I think your new scheme is ok, but the colors of your links are very similar to the color of your background.. perhaps changing them to a more contrasty-tone would be good?
I like it! It will be much easier on the eyes in the early mornings. Will have to start reading with the morning coffee. Or the late night ale!

No you are not supposed to put two spaces after a period. It looks terrible, and I wish people would realize that the rule has been obsolete for a long time.
I prefer two spaces. It’s a nice visual break that reduces clutter. I like the blue and grey, too. There is still some wonkiness over on the right there with some graphical infighting, but the site’s looking good. Many, many thanks for not using supersaturated colors or high contrast. Many’s the site that I won’t revisit thanks to assaulting my eyeballs. (White on black… shudder.)

Ok im going to be honest. I hate the new design. It too clinical, the old layout had a more homemade look to it. This site now looks like everyother blog.
With a blog named “Big Red Kitty” you’d think that the site wouldn’t be blue. It should be…I don’t know….maybe red?

Move one of the bars to the left so that the blog text is in the middle. Those two bars side by side just doesn’t look right.
BRK, I hope you do realize that the header image (http://www.bigredkitty.net/wp-content/themes/BRK/images/brk-logo.png) is a whopping 288KB?
Silly BRK. Double spaces after periods is the “proper” way to write. It’s (or was) taught in typing classes and college when I was there (not THAT long ago, thank you very much).
Of course, HTML doesn’t accept more than one space after a period in text. It throws out any white space except the one space.
I was taught in high school in Text and Information Management that it was bad grammer to only have one space after a full stop. Besides that I personally think having two spaces makes each sentance easier to distinguish.
