ok, I missed… what’s wrong with cower? is it just that it turns itself on when summoned?

  2. Zwingli on October 21st, 2008 11:57 am

That has been my experience with one of my pets. However, I have another pet that never experienced it.

  3. Bartlebey on October 21st, 2008 12:00 pm

    OMG, I want one!

  4. Vanyalosswen on October 21st, 2008 12:05 pm

Wrath is already full of Norse mythology references, BRK–you should be more careful, or you’ll be adding another one-armed wolf catcher to the list. You do know what Tyr’s Hand is named for, right?

Watch where you’re putting those fingers!

This one will be a staple of orc hunters everywhere, or horde hunters in general to combine with the pvp wolf mount.

Certinly my orc hunter will be grabbing one if I ever get him to 60+ anyhow.

  6. Corrado on October 21st, 2008 12:15 pm

This might be inferred, but I’m just mentioning for those who haven’t thought about it…

Combine your new Wolfy’s “Furious Howl” (148 Attack Power buff) with the fact that he’s Ferocity and can spec into “Call of the Wild” and suddenly you’ve got 10% Attack Power buff + 148, JUST from the pet.

If you throw some points into MM and grab Trueshot Aura, well, let’s just say you’ll be one loved little Hunter!

  7. Dargonaut on October 21st, 2008 12:26 pm

    @Corrado:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but I wonder which party buffs they would stack with.

  8. kunukia on October 21st, 2008 12:43 pm

I love wolves, but am not so fond of the worg look, so sticking with my ‘normal’ looking wolf.

  9. Nuadin on October 21st, 2008 1:32 pm

WOW that is freakin AWESOME!!! I can’t wait!

  10. Xathras on October 21st, 2008 1:57 pm

    @Corrado

I haven’t tested it but I doubt that will work. Buffs that provide a similar effect don’t stack anymore. So if the wolf is a +5% AP and Trueshot being a +10% AP then only trueshot would actually count.
Similar to how if there’s a ‘lock with Fel Intellect buff and a mage with Arcane Brilliance, brilliance overrides since it’s a greater int buff.

I’m loving the damage my kitty is doing on live right now. :)

  11. Aelphea on October 21st, 2008 2:52 pm

It doesn’t stack, sadly. I use the ghost wolf and BS/BoM overwrite it. Still good for soloing as MM tho.

  12. Jeanne on October 21st, 2008 3:06 pm

In terms of buffs, Furious Howl isn’t very party friendly because even if you were in a party without a Paladin or Warrior, it would be better to bring a wasp (same armor reduction value as Curse of Recklessness and Faerie Fire) or a carrion bird (same melee attack power reduction as Curse of Weakness and Demoralizing Shout).

It’s nice for soloing because more attack power is always nice, but in terms of party/raid buffs/debuffs I think there are others that are more useful.

  13. Canth on October 21st, 2008 3:23 pm

    Furious howl doesn’t stack?

So which pet buffs DO stack that hunters can bring to a raid to be usefull?
The wasp sting, though not stacking, may be a good option as posted earlier you do not always have that debuff from druid/lock.

  14. jim on October 21st, 2008 3:56 pm

I dont think any pet buffs/debuffs stack. If one did, it would go against the entire reason they changed buffs/debuffs.

  15. Stevie on October 21st, 2008 4:01 pm

As Furious How gives 2 AP/RAP each pet level shoudln’t your wolf be giving 150 at 75 instead of 148?

  16. Ahrtu on October 21st, 2008 4:20 pm

What’s with the silly little icons next to everyone’s posts?

Oh, and I think we could really use an update to the winners/losers post for pets now that Bliz has settled on what they appear to be doing. For instance, wouldn’t a serpent or core hound be really effective in PvP? especially with 3/3 Longevity for 30% more frequent specials? I’m thinking put the pet on a healer and watch them never recover from a 50% casting time increase debuff. But which to take? The (cunning) serpent or the (ferocity) core hound?

  17. BRK on October 21st, 2008 4:26 pm

What’s with the silly little icons next to everyone’s posts?

We don’t know how to turn them off! That’s the problem.

  18. Tigerfeet on October 21st, 2008 4:59 pm

Oooooooh, I like the freezing arrow. The wolf runnin’s nothin’ new, though I’d ’spect it’d be somethin’ right amazin’ to ye alliance types over thar oh aye!

Still eagerly awaiting a Tallstrider move… Kowbelle and Pink Floyd are your biggest fans >_>

  19. Tigerfeet on October 21st, 2008 5:00 pm

ie, movie. Clarification, I fail at typing, proofreading hates me.

  20. nez on October 21st, 2008 5:45 pm

when will these be able to tame with the public

  21. nez on October 21st, 2008 5:46 pm

    please reply when able

  22. mirozik on October 21st, 2008 6:07 pm

Am i missing something? I know there was a charge abillity in ferocity tree in beta, but it kind disappear in live patch 3.0.2…is that a bug to fix, or our devilsaur actually lost their charge?

  23. Nissi on October 21st, 2008 6:50 pm

@mirozik.. Currently Charge is bugged in the non “flyer” Ferocity pet’s talent trees. ie, Wasps, Carrion Birds, and Moth’s all have access to Swoop (the flyer Charge equivalent), but the legged pets are bugged out.

@BRK.. I noticed you did not talent into Bloodthirsty. Was this just an oversight or do you really not plan on using this talent at level 80? From my perspective, the talent is a 100% must have for any PvE hunter. I can see not using it for farming or PvP, really is a useless talent there, but for Instance and Raid content, its gotta be the best talent there.

  24. Tyberiuss on October 21st, 2008 11:57 pm

Why can’t I go get this wolf right now? Is it exotic? Dudes are walkn around with exotics now. What gives?

  25. Celexxa on October 22nd, 2008 1:00 am

WHOOOOOA! That wolf is damn near as nice as a spirit beast!!!

  26. David on October 22nd, 2008 1:45 am

Hey BRK, I’m really interested in being able to tank 5man content with my hunter. If you have the time or the interest, could you: make a movie/post some comments about how feasible that is? Thanks muchly ;)

  27. Juzelle on October 22nd, 2008 1:59 am

So basically you can tame what ammounts to a horde pvp wolf mount? Can we say Accesorizing? I’ll grab one of these, break out my blackrock worg puppy, and my black pvp wolf, and my life wil be almost complete!

    Thanks BRK!

  28. Jan on October 22nd, 2008 3:19 am

Allright, this comment of mine is a bit offtopic but I had to write it down, couldn’t resist.
Would be great if we could mount the pets. aside from technical issues and esthetics it would just be great running around on a exotic pet and let it fight whenever we enter combat. But perhaps I take it a bit too far now. hey, it was just a fantasy. right.

About the Flashdance legwarmers. well, I think it’s better looking with the legwarmers. Otherwise he’s so bare. All geared up on top and nothing to show on his legs wouldn’t be good thing I think.
Instead of legwarmers it would be nice to have some plate leg armor though.

  29. jacko on October 22nd, 2008 5:06 am

lol @ all the alli, this is just the regular orc epic ground mount model, yes it looks cool, but its not new

  30. Hellyardsown on October 22nd, 2008 6:32 am

@ David, on beta I havent done much pet tanking outside of soloing, on live my gorilla tanked Headless Horseman all but 5 times I’ve done it since the event started (upwards of 20) so far. without a problem. my cats survivability is up as well, due to cower/growl bug (both on my action bar and growl was still triggering o.O) my pet pulled aggro quite a few times in heroic mrt, only to tank til the tanks taunt was off cooldown =]

pet tanking wont be accepted in raids I doubt (due to min/max hardcore raiders =P) but in 5 mans it’s more than plausible, (idk about heroics tho)

  31. Bryan on October 22nd, 2008 9:23 am

Oh man, I’m so getting me one of those beauties, that has gotta the coolest wolf ever. Although I’ve been hearing bout a two-headed wolf, is that true? If it is, I might just have to get both. :)

  32. Rokisha on October 22nd, 2008 8:01 pm

You know those wolves were tameable before and it ended up being a bug… are we SURE those are ment to be tameable…

  33. eldoras on October 23rd, 2008 5:56 pm

I read somewhere that a work-around for the pet prowl/cower bug is to create a macro that will just turn it off and take them out of that mode. So I did it and man it works great. No more having to open the talent window, click pet and then right and left click the buttons.

Here is the macro I use for Prowl (cat):

    /petautocastoff Prowl
    /cast prowl

Oh, and if you guys have been experiencing your pet bar just disappearing for no reason, just write up some macros and put them in an action bar. Here are all of mine:

Attack (I auto turn of Prowl here)
    /petattack
    /petautocastoff Prowl

    Defensive
    /petdefensive

    Follow
    /petfollow

    Passive
    /petpassive

    Stay
    /petstay

    Hope that helps somebody!

    Rokisha:

Yeah, we’re sure they’re supposed to be tameable. Ghostcrawler told us. :3*

*Too lazy to link post…you can find the quote in Mania’s Arcania and probably all over Google, though.

  35. Stephf on October 25th, 2008 4:51 am
