I’ve noticed some strange sort of bug where the first time pet skins are loaded, where the pet is ginormous, they show up ginormous and don’t shrink.

I grouped with a bull that had a devilsaur. I flew to go meet him. When I got in range to see him, there was his Devilsaur, big as day, and stomping around.

When he mounted, flew off, and resummoned his pet it was small again.

I had zoned in just a bit ago and it was the first time seeing a devilsaur since I’d zoned.

That’s insane!

The other day I was out in Nagrand leveling my Devilsaur (his name’s Biscuit, hehe) and farming leather when a guy said on General he wanted to buy some Thick Clefthoof Leather, so I offered to sell him what I had. He came over and ended up being an orc hunter with a devilsaur too, and he started freaking out saying that my devilsaur was huge and wondered how I did that- he also said he was elite. I guess this is another of those bugs.

And oh, what an awesome bug it is!

Yeah, My Uvuros did this too. It goes away once your dismiss and resummon him.

Yeah this seems to be a bug, happens to me nearly every hour at least once. No matter what pet, however, only with exotic pets.

Happened to me too, I tamed the king gorilla in stv and someone wanted to know why it was so big. I just kinda blew him off as a loon. Guess he wasn’t crazy.

This happened before, only rarely though. I remember about 4-5 months back, I was doing dailies with my wolf and a mage walked up to me and said my wolf was freakin huge. Another time, I was queuing for a BG and this hunters scorpid was as big as a small building. So, seeing as I was brand new to 70 at THAT point, I asked him how, he said it was a bug.

But man, is it ever cool with core hounds and devilsaurs.
Cant wait to see a Rhino do that.

Rhino, we win.

My wolf (Rema) do this sometimes on my boyfriend’s screen… I looooove that ! :D

But I have never seen any big Uvuros… Does the greenish smoke scale with the dog ? It must pollute the whole map…

This is one of the coolest bugs in the game. Of course, the person with the pet doesn’t notice his pet is being seen by everyone else as huge.

Senzir’s screenshot made me smile…I hope this bug is fixed, but in the “exotic pets should stay big” direction. Seeing these huge pets in the wild gives me the same “whoa” feeling I get when I see some giant boss for the first time, or encounter anything truly massive in-game (Stonewrought Dam as a young noob, for example).

The one thing that would be nice would be if same-faction exotic pets would automatically dismiss upon entering a major city. For example, if an Alliance hunter enters Stormwind with his devilsaur, the devilsaur would automatically dismiss (with no loss in loyalty or happiness) as soon as he zoned into the city. This way, everyone could stare in awe & wonder at the giant pets, but no one would bitch & moan about mailboxes & NPCs being rendered unusable because they’re hidden somewhere under a massive corehound’s butt.

That said, I see no reason why anyone’s exotic pet shouldn’t be allowed to raise hell in an enemy city…if you don’t like that orc’s corehound blocking your access to the mailbox in Ironforge, then I guess you’d better kill it :)

Patch notes, patch 3.0.3, 4 Nov 2008

Hunters

Due to player complaints of outlandishly-large pets, hunter characters have been enlarged so that they are in correct proportion to their pets. Pwned, you Paladins!

The devilsaur also looks great with this size bug – here one is doing a Godzilla impressions in Eastern Plaguelands:
