Zygor Ramps it Up
“It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it.” Benjamin Franklin.
Zygor brings the goods. His stuff works. If you want the fastest way to level a toon to 80, perhaps that new Death Knigget you’re planning on rolling, you really can’t go wrong with Zygor.
We allow few advertisers on BRK the Blog, for a good reason. Our reputation has been slowly built for almost two years, and we’re not going to let some crap-product ruin it.
Zygor is BRK-approved.

Since I play probably 40 hours a week, and have since alpha, I’ve never considered buying one of those guides. Do they actually contain info outside of common knowledge?
Not normally. They do a good job of putting quests in an efficient manner, ones with good rewards, rep and less running around.
For someone who’s played through since Alpha, no; you won’t gain anything from this.
I fully understand the need for advertisements (or some form of revenue) to offset the costs of hosting this site; and I applaud BRK for not sinking to the level of advertising bad products or worse, gold sellers. I think he’s dead right that doing something like that would severely tarnish his rep.
That being said, I have a reputation for leveling my toons (and skills) quickly. I’ve done what I’ve done by using free resources easily found on the web – call it doing my homework. There are tons of good guides that are freely available for lots of things you want to do. And, more importantly, a lot of folks prefer to have fun with the game content while leveling up. Many power levelers will say (and it’s most likely still true), that the quickest way to level is to do few quests (mainly kill quests or those that are particularly convenient) and focus more on grinding. I prefer to do more quests and less grinding, and I still level very quickly.
If you’re like me, and you think you already spend plenty of real $$ on this game, then go google some free guides. Jamie’s guides come to mind. Not saying the Zygor guides are good. Heck, they may even be fantastic, but ultimately they are unlikely to contain wisdom and insight you can’t find for free elsewhere if you’re just willing to look for it.
Remember! When you’re looking for a helping hand, always start at the end of your own arm. It’s usually the closest and most reliable one you’ve got.
While I’ve come across good guides (Azuarc for Alliance side worked well for me), and this one might be good as well, I have to say I’m pretty uncomfortable with somebody who uses addons that others have created for free. Last time I clicked on the link and read through it all it seemed like it made heavy use of Cartographer and TomTom. There’s also an addon (think it was called TourGuide or TourGuide recorder – something like that ) specifically designed to help create guides by recording when a quest is turned in, who to, zones etc. Sounds awfully familiar.
Sorry, but a paid for guide that uses tools provided freely by others is too reminiscent of the whole Sims 2 paysite debacle, and that was clearly a blatant ripoff. I have to agree with Outofammo – there are plenty of free guides out there, and really is the game *that* hard to begin with?
After looking at the site, it does look like what Zygor is trying to do is provide an efficient way to level. That isn’t what I like to do on new content, or on newbie chars, but for getting from lvl 30 to 70, an ingame guide to maximize xp might be nice. While I know where to get quests in Outland to level a DK, I have no clue which quests give the most XP.
for some guides work .. for others it just results in them not being able to think for themselves
imo using a guide takes the exploration aspect out of the game since it directly tells you go to A do B and get Z reward
as for it belonging here .. well there could be worse things and its still better than the “warcraft millionaire” one
Looks like a well executed product. I already have 7 70’s and it really can’t be made much easier to level.
Hmmm, BRK isn’t exactly famous for leveling alts. Do you have some that you don’t write about? You would have leveled at least 1 through this system to personally endorse it. How many days played did it take you when you tried it?
We have not leveled another toon to 70 with the product, no. However, several of our friends have and proclaim that the end-game questing works in the same manner as the low-level stuff we did. If all you want is to level fast, this things works.
I have been using these Zygor guides since last year. The new version is pretty sweet. I have the Horde version. I leveled my hunter with it from 1-70 in a little over 11 days. For a non elite player like myself it really helped out.
I have been very curious about getting something like this to help speed up the process. I’m making the switch from Alliance to Horde and have found the learning curve steep again, although the skills are easy enough. A guide would help move me from place to place more efficiently and to be honest, I’m really just wanting to get to 70 a little quicker.
I’ve tried James’ guides and they have been nice, but I always get off track at some point, getting back on is a pain. Anyone know if these guides adapt to people who do odd things, and maybe take advantage of seasonal quest experience as they level?
The Zygor guide looks good, but for $50 for either the Alliance or the Horde guide… ouch. iDemise is $35 for either. Jame’s guides are free and he has Alliance and Horde as well, just no in-game tools to help.
WP-Spam Free sucks
Foshizzle
The in game tools are what make Zygor’s guide faster.
I’ve been using Joana’s guide on my fourth alt, a paladin. I’ve done all the quests in Azeroth three to six times, depending on what level. I don’t want to see them anymore. I just want to get out of Azeroth as quickly as possible so I can get to the currently FUN part of the game.
My first 70, a druid, took six months. (2005-2006) My second took around four months (2006-7; I didn’t start her for a long time). My third took a month; halfway through a friend gave me a copy of the guide. I liked it so much I paid for it. It’s the efficiency I want; I can find all the quests myself, but to find them in the order that I can easily solo them and when they’re all in the same area at once is worth it.
I work odd hours; I can only raid with my guild twice a week at most. And half the time nothing is going on that night… This way I can get characters to where they’re fun more quickly.
edit after it was eaten: And yes, Spam-Free is stupid.
For those that can’t stomach the cost, use TourGuide. In game leveling guide that makes excellent use of TomTom/Lightheaded. The guide is create due to the contribution of the author and the community, so it may not be perfect, but I’ve used it to get from 1-70 in ~7days /played (that does include rested xp, of course).
Well, I’m not normally interested in levelling guides, as I like to take my time savouring things as I go. Still, if this is as good a quality as the Warcraft Millionaire guides, I’d say it’s worth it.
I honestly wasn’t expecting much from Warcraft Millionaire, I bought it to support BRK and hoped to find a few tips that might help. I stand corrected. 1000 gold in a week (only 200 or so from dailies) and I’ve only put into practice a few of the ideas in it. (It’s obviously not written for a pre-expansion lull, but there’s lots of stuff for the rest of the time too that I just hadn’t thought of and can’t wait to put into practice.)
Anyway, the point is, if this guide’s as good as that, I’ll be getting it when I get around to levelling alts.
By far the best wotlk leveling guide on the market right now..
I have seen good zygor warriors point and you reveled greatest, Zygor Guides has been around for sometime now and has achieved the pinnacle spot of No 1 in the World of Warcraft guides genre.
