  4. BRK on November 9th, 2008 3:26 pm

Yes, the XML file got borked. It’s fixed and iTunes now has the proper file. Delete your Episode 8 and reload it.

Is it a bad thing to want more Hunter pet Stable Slots already? I’ve got three pets I don’t want to get rid off (Devilsaur, Gorilladin, and my original Raptor pet), and I just got the new Wolf and I wanna keep him, Baby Rhino AND that fantastic worm!

This macro works as well or better…

    /cast Arcane Shot(Rank 1)
    /stopattack

It does exactly what you’re looking for (stopping you from shooting) but doesn’t exploit a glitch to make it work. If Blizzard ever fixes the glitch you are using, this macro will still work. This is the way it should be done.

  7. Soulkill on November 9th, 2008 5:05 pm

iTunes still has episode six listed as eight.

  8. BRK on November 9th, 2008 6:15 pm

    /cast Arcane Shot(Rank 1)
    /stopattack

This macro does not work. That’s the problem.

Hey, here’s another hunter who is also just missing the two Northrend frogs. Went around loving the other critters the last couple of days while exploring the missing corners of all the Azeroth zones. Having never leveled an ally char past 22 there were quite a few places I had never ever seen before.

Speaking of which, I can say that corpse travel still works like a charm. Die, run, log out/log in and then res at a new graveyard was really helpful for getting Teldrassil and Azuremyst/Bloodmyst. Now I am all set for getting the Explorer title as soon as possible. (I guess that would be level 77, since I guess there are places in Northrend we can only reach by flying?)

It’s not just cower and prowl that are broken. It’s any ability you want to have turned off. It is very very annoying.

Great Podcast BRK, it’s great to hear your voice again

Good podcast, intro music is very good times.

    Hey BRK,

This should be a little more dynamic for an easier copy+paste macro.

    /cast Arcane Shot(Rank 1)
    /target player

Using “player” as the target will target yourself, so this will work across all huntards, regardless of their character name.

The problem with pulling with Rank 1 arcane shot is that there’s a very good possibility that your pull will jump all over the healer either during the pull, or after it breaks free of the trap due to heal aggro.

If I’m not supposed to misdirect to the MT during a pull, or to my pet in trap situations, I prefer to beat the ever-loving snot out of the mob so it thinks I taste better than the healer. If the tank is bad enough that he can’t pull it back off me after it’s time to kill it, I can always FD it off me when he breaks the trap.

As for the caves in AV, the way I used to do them was to run (without the pet) in the back door with Aspect of the Monkey on, get in the “boss” mob’s area, FD all the trash off, bandage or eat back to full, then pull out my pet and spank the boss. Shadowmeld helped for the eating, so it might not work so well with other races.

It works for me, just have to hit the macro twice, while Arcane Shot is on gcd.

Look at your combat text, you’ll see an Auto Shot fire before you can hit the macro a 2nd time.

Am I the only one confused by Rank 1? I thought there was no downranking anymore?

  18. Nirtxed on November 9th, 2008 11:54 pm

FH is also overwritten by Blessing of Might. :/

  19. 5318008 on November 10th, 2008 12:38 am

There is still downranking, it just doesn’t make the mana cost of the spell any cheaper as all spells now rely on base mana.

  20. Kitsunebi on November 10th, 2008 1:23 am

Nice work around for the stop casting. The pull macro is more for solo or quick pulls, usualy if I use the pull macro I will pull and run directly to the tank or be standing beside the tank. MD pulls are a difrent kind of pull altogether.

The volly bug costs a lot when your runing around with your gorilla taking 10+ mobs, first time I noticed it my ranged wepon was at twenty percent. >.< The bug with turning off pet skills effects all of the skills you want off, which is frustrating.

  21. Kitsunebi on November 10th, 2008 1:48 am

Another thought about pulling macros and pulling in general. With the pull macro listed in the blog post I would think it more for pulling single or a group of mobs to your location for ether your pet or a tank to pick up and not for traping a mob.

Generaly when traping a mob you want to use destracting shot to draw it to you to trap, I never FD when I have a traped mob, this is so you keep the traped mobs Agro to chain trap it and only FD when it is ready to be picked up by the tank.

MD pulls are ones that dump all your agro to the tank so the tank has a head start on the Agro list. It also makes the mob go to where ever the tank is located.

  22. Lightcrusader on November 10th, 2008 2:29 am

Hello, what is the macro for pet auto off cower

  23. Anotherclown on November 10th, 2008 3:39 am

@Kitsunebi: If I understand the new distracting shot properly it won’t matter if you FD or not since it is only a 6 sec taunt and leaves no residual threat on the target after it wears off. All that is needed in chain trapping situations is another distracting shot just before/after the trap breaks or pulling with arcane/aimed initially.

@Lightcrusader: /petautocastoff Cower, should still work

  24. Kitsunebi on November 10th, 2008 5:20 am

I understand it’s only a 6sec taunt, however you can throw an arcane shot or stedy shot dirctly after to get initial agro and only drop the trap when needed, so you will not have to recast destacting shot at all, unless some one brakes the trap.

  25. Berg on November 10th, 2008 6:31 am

Thanks again. You just keep teaching me new stuff.

  26. Noppynoob on November 10th, 2008 6:56 am

    /cast Arcane Shot(Rank 1)
    /cleartarget

    should work….

  27. morathedwarf on November 10th, 2008 7:50 am

did i hear you right you want to pull the mob with the lowest damage then your pet gets aggro then you melee the target? why melee?

  28. Thosaquinas on November 10th, 2008 8:36 am

The macro did not work as described in 2 respects:
    1) I still got off an Autoshot before having myself targeted.
    2) I became the target instead of the target reverting to the original target.

Nevertheless, it works pretty good for trap pulls:

    /cast Misdirection
    /target Thosaquinas

  29. Teaakius on November 10th, 2008 9:25 am

As for borked things, I thought they fixed the Chimera range-check bug…Well, the Core Hound (at least mine) is doing the same thing now with Lava Breath.

  30. Bombardment on November 10th, 2008 9:29 am

    #showtooltip Arcane Shot(Rank 1)
    /cast Arcane Shot(Rank 1)
    /cleartarget

This macro generally works for me, if mobs aren’t tightly packed it retargets my main target, if closely packed, it targets the closest enemy, but if pulling then that shouldn’t be a problem.

    #showtooltip Distracting Shot
    /cast Distracting Shot
    /cleartarget

  31. Bombardment on November 10th, 2008 9:35 am

You can also just cast Arcane Shot while moving then stopattack before you stand still

  32. Nyctreinar on November 10th, 2008 11:26 am

Why not set focus on your pull target, shoot the focus target, set target = focus and then clear focus?

  33. Shmii on November 10th, 2008 4:26 pm

@Anyone who needs to use the macro:

Do yourself a favor and remove the (Rank 1).

When it comes to trapping your much better off using /focus and keeping track of the mobs. If you love macro’s then /cast [target=focus] Arcane Shot will work too in conjunction with /focus.

  34. Tequilafly on November 10th, 2008 6:09 pm

Wouldn’t using a level (Rank 1) serpent sting be better for pulling? This keeps your arcane shot from going into cool down.

Also, my skilz with macros is the true sucks but can I recommend someone making a macro for the Gorrilladin.

Macro would consist of when your Gorilla has initial agro on several mobs and is loosing life, you could cast a macro that would cast heal pet, followed by misdirect to pet, and followed by another volley shot. This way you lock the agro back onto gorilla.

  35. Fluffywumpki of Dethecus on November 11th, 2008 8:15 pm

Doesn’t Serpent Sting (any rank) generate aggro in excess of the damage applied?

  36. Fluffywumpki of Dethecus on November 11th, 2008 8:17 pm

ok, maybe not so much with the Edit in Safari…

anyway, @Tequilafly, the only problem with your Macro suggestion is the GCD would lock out the casts. A /castsequence macro would probably work, but you’d need to time hitting it (at which point, you may as well be activating the abilities separately.)

  37. Jaegerin and Kuscheltier on November 12th, 2008 7:38 am

I’ve been using the /target name for a bit–it works, but I still have the problem someone else mentioned of an autoshot firing before the retargeting kicks in. /stopcasting doesn’t work for me either.

Nice that they’ve permitted downcasting again, even if the mana cost is higher. I find that the light tap makes it easier for the tank to get control when he/she wants to break the trap.

I do have a “hard pull” macro which uses the standard Arcane Shot.
