We ran Utgard Keep and The Nexus, but getting our Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth was what we wanted more than anything. And we can check that off our list!

What was your #1 goal for the day?

My #1 goal for the day was to resist buying Wraith. Stupid college taking all of my time and money!

Ooo I can’t wait for Christmas break!

  2. kunukia on November 14th, 2008 12:58 am

Skinning to 450. I am at 447, but just too exhausted. Tomorrow.

And, I am going to grab my rhino. Today, I finished getting a kitty to 70, because I had recently changed kitties for a prettier one. Rhino, ftw!!

  3. For the Pie on November 14th, 2008 1:14 am

    Getting in game first.

Then training all my professions to allow leveling to 450.

    Check and check.

I need to get a rhino and release my bear. Then figure out where the eagle is.

  7. Tim on November 14th, 2008 1:49 am

My #1 goal was to create a Death Knight(Female Gnome of course) and experience the new area and storyline.

I just finished that a couple of minutes ago and wow, what an amazing experience, I’m sad that it’s over. I logged off right in front of the king, I don’t know if I’ll ever really play her again, it’s time to take my hunter into Nothrend. I’m very tempted to get a level 55 character on an RP server just so I can roleplay as a Knight of the Ebon Hand. Though, I’ll let the initial wave of awesomeness wash away before I make any concrete plans and I think Nothrend will distract me from that goal quite a bit.

Have you tried a Death Knight, BRK? I know you don’t really enjoy any other class but Hunter, but you should really play at least all of the new DK only content. It’s quite an emotional experience.

  8. Kakon on November 14th, 2008 2:09 am

Logging off at a decent hour so I won’t be a zombie at work tomorrow again.

    I failed. :(

But I’m over halfway to 71!! And I got a DK to 56!! So that makes up for it, amirite?

  9. Teaakius on November 14th, 2008 2:46 am

Am I the only one who said “OMG Sharks…I wanna tame one…and put some goblin lasers on it.”

Wow, I thought they were level 80 required like the rest of the new Northrend mounts. Congratulations! :D

  13. Craig on November 14th, 2008 5:05 am

…getting the game installed, which I still haven’t been able to do. I checked your site because I know your system is similar to mine (3.0ghz imac). You have any issues with the install?

I’ve tried everything, including completely uninstalling WoW from my mac.

I’m d/l’ing the files as we speak. :(

  14. Berg on November 14th, 2008 5:15 am

Just had three goals last night.

    1. Get game installed and log in.
    2. Get the Tundra Crawler.
    3. Visit both starting zones.

    All successfully accomplished.

  15. Nefernet on November 14th, 2008 5:32 am

    1. Create my draenei DK and realise that she had to kill, torture, etc, some Night Elves and Taurens. Nooo way ! Unlogged the DK (didn’t delete it though)

    2. Log my hunter and port to Stormwind. Take the boat.

    3. Realise the area was overfarm and overpopulated. Panicking : I’m claustrobobic. Unlog the hunter. Close the game.

    4. Do something else.

    5. Log the hunter again and have my mage boyfriend port me to Shattrath. Finish the quests I still had in Outland. Empty the quest log.

    6. Try again next day.

And grats for the mammoth ! Awesome !

  16. Fobok on November 14th, 2008 5:56 am

My main goal was to mine and sell some Cobolt before the market started to get flooded and it’s initial value went down. I managed, though I couldn’t believe by how much. Within just a few minutes of posting, someone bought a stack of 8 cobolt bars for 400 gold.

Unfortunately, soon after the zones were so packed with people there wasn’t a node to be found.

  17. Shasel on November 14th, 2008 6:02 am

My main aim is to work out why WoW crashes with error 134 every 10 mins or so

    :-(

  18. Evea on November 14th, 2008 7:26 am

To lvl fishing. waiting on my copy of Wrath to travel 7000 miles :(

  19. Conry on November 14th, 2008 7:39 am

#1 goal was getting my hunter to 70 first. Cos I hate the changes they made to pallies I don’t feel like leveling my pally to 80. It’s gonna be a hunter! BRK infected me :)

BRK, is there any chance we can get some insights on shot rotations thingies with the wotlk changes to shot clipping with steady shot ?

Will BM still be the meanest DPS or is MM a good second option with the new shots/talents? A blog about this would be much appreciated by more people than only me I think.

    gr,

    Conry , Defias Brotherrhood

    — Conry means King of the wolves in (old) Scottish

  20. Warcraft Mom on November 14th, 2008 7:41 am

    Train up professions. Check
Level up skinning to 450. Check
    Run Utgarde Keep. Check
Then just do some quests and enjoy the ride. My goodness, it is so lovely up here in Northrend. I never ever want to go back to the Outland, except Nagrand, which I did like a lot. But Howling Fjord is gorgeous.

  21. Davlin-Hydraxis on November 14th, 2008 8:21 am

My number one goal was to quest, without expectations so that I could be pleasantly surprised, and boy howdy was I ever.

Engineering now has it where you can mine fallen robots for parts, and the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, used in Outland for….extracting motes can also be used on Crystallized stuff. I’ve already got a ton of Fire and Water just from running around looking to get me my Rhino….his name is Carl.

  22. Azurax on November 14th, 2008 8:31 am

I got my Rhino, think I’m gonna name him BillyBob. Got about 90 quests done in Tundra. Gonna clear every zone before I move on. Oh and tried to level Mining but those stupid alli’s keep taking my nodes.

  23. Wtiger on November 14th, 2008 9:06 am

I got 1/2 way to 72, pushing to 73 today. I love my gorilladin.

  24. Shagrat-turalyon on November 14th, 2008 9:12 am

Find the stupid LW trainer in Borean Tundra. check (He’s in Taunka’le Village for us Horde-types)

Spend time with the daughter for the evening. check

Log back in check…after an hour and a half of queue (made absolutely no sense. Turalyon’s a medium pop server)

Decide between taming the green devilsaur or spirit beast…not quite done yet.

  25. Bouda on November 14th, 2008 9:14 am

Objective one – get Rhino – Got him too big and kept blocking the npc – swapped back to Gorilla

Objective two – level skinning to 450 – basically just hung outside keep while ppl killed all those flying mob things on beach for me to skin!

Objective two – got to 71 – only got half way – man thats alot of XP but thats what weekends are for :)

  26. Ragner on November 14th, 2008 9:36 am

    @ conroy

    Steady shot, steady shot,…steady shot
    no more clipping
Check the forums for more details about slight changes (eg, macroing the first auto shot). But if you just spam steady shot, you will be close to optimal.

  27. Woodrun on November 14th, 2008 9:51 am

    1. Install Wrath – done
    2. Get to Borean Tundra – done
    3. Train Grand Master LW and Skinng – done (skin at 435 already – LW at 393)
    4. Get me a Rhino (done) -cause Rhinos Win!

    So far so good…

  28. Woodrun on November 14th, 2008 9:52 am

    5. Get to 71 first day – sooo cloase (1 bar left but I have to go to work…)

  29. Zuldim on November 14th, 2008 10:04 am

    To get the CE.
    To run a dungeon.
To get a DK outta the start zone.

    I manged all 3.

  30. AceHawkblade on November 14th, 2008 10:37 am

Nice to know I’m not the only one who spent the first evening on a new DK. That whole quest line was just amazing. He’s now parked in Thrallmar, but I may go back to EP for a level or two and hope it’s not as crowded. Fewer people around to see me suck at trying to play a melee char = win.

Took my hunter to BT, and by the time I realized the skinning trainer was in another village it was 1am and I had to work today, so … tonight’s goal will be to get that done. Maybe back in BT, or maybe I’ll just go to HF for fun since she’s in Shatt right now.

  31. WB on November 14th, 2008 10:55 am

sneak out of work to buy the expasion – check
rush home after work to load expansion – check
    log in – check
sit in queue for 35 minutes – double check
load new hunter main – check
boat to Borean Tundra – check
    train all professions – check
    run quests – …
    run quests – …
    hmm…..
arcane shot spam to tap mob required for said quests – CHECK
get cursed for tapping said mob with instant shot – check :-(
    run Nexus – check
run Azjol-Nerub at lvl 70 – check (with T6.5 geared lvl 72 warrior tank, FTW!)
first upgrade – S2 shoulders to blue quest drop – check. :-/
hit lvl 71 – not quite.

I have to admit, despite the huge crowding problems, painful lack of mobs and ridiculous queue times, I am thrilled with Northrend. Artisty is excellent, quests aren’t painful, yet. The two instances I did were very well designed. Actually A-N was downright awesome. I highly recommend it to anyone along their way to 80, it’s a beaut.

  32. Schmirnoff on November 14th, 2008 12:27 pm

I didn’t set any goals I guess, although I did want to get ahead of the leveling curve so that I could avoid the deathly long spawn times and quests, failed that though.

Got a DK to 58 and I’m loving Blood spec.

The hunter is at 90%, 10% to lv 71.

    I need to run instances!

    Who here is on Mug’thol?

  33. Scripts on November 14th, 2008 12:54 pm

    Get to Northrend – Check

Explore HJ zone and get all flightpoints – Missing 1

    Quest Up – Check

Train Cooking/First Aid/Mining/JC – Check (Minus JC Recipes)

Get frustrated by Queue and “Ants at a picnic” while questing – double check

I’m maybe a quarter of the way to 71, but I am enjoying the music and zone so far. I may hit Boren Tundra after I’m done in HJ, just to pick up the infamous rhino, and see if I can leapfrog the middle zones. I just don’t want to be too far behind the people I hang with…

  34. Seanguy on November 14th, 2008 1:56 pm

Grinding rep with brood of Nordazmu…because I love dragons.

  35. Smiley on November 14th, 2008 3:23 pm

  36. Cogzwell on November 14th, 2008 3:41 pm

my goal is to reach lv68… 6 to go…. although it’ll probally be lv80 before i even get my epic land mount at this rate

  37. Goosseh on November 14th, 2008 4:49 pm

To not pass out at the pc and yea I didnt :o

  38. Haarits on November 14th, 2008 5:05 pm

    Install WOTLK – check
Hop boat to BT, literally jumping at the last moment to catch the very edge of the ramp – check
Marvel at the 71s on the boat with me, since I couldn’t get on until Friday morning – check
Run around… uh… Valiance?, becoming Grand Master in all my profs – check
    Tame baby rhino – check
Dump baby rhino for the big gray bull – check
Watch as rhino handily tanks the 72 Elite Lord of the Rhinos who rudely interrupted us as I was giving him talent points, remember to shoot occasionally – check
Watch as Lord of the Rhinos falls dead while rhino & I survive – check
Recall that not all elites are equal – check
Debate while at work whether to keep the gray rhino or go back to the brown – in progress

  39. Torgall on November 14th, 2008 5:50 pm

@ Cogzwell… I feel your pain. My goal for WotLK, hold out till Christmas before purchase. Check. Continue leveling in Outland. Check. My hunter dinged 66 this afternoon and along with that finally came the 510G I need to train my riding skill for epic land mounts. Now I can finally get the black pvp kodo out of my bank where it’s been sitting since 57. I bought that with marks back when word on the street was marks and honor would be reset with the expansion.

  40. Thealliance on November 15th, 2008 12:04 am

    Step 1:Install Wrath:…98%….99%…. FAIL!
Step 1.5: Fix step one (Currently in progress)
Step 2: Make a DK (Dwarf Male looking exactly like my hunter)
step 3: go to Howling Fjord

Don’t want to plan to far ahead as i wasn’t in Beta and i don’t know much past that.

  41. Marathonian on November 15th, 2008 4:12 am

    I got my Rhino.

After becoming a Grand Master in all of my primary and secondary professions,I had 6 gold left.

    No mammoth for me.

    Damnitall.

  42. Ihumpedyourmom on November 17th, 2008 12:14 pm

Got my mammoth last night and they are just pure win allows for me never to have to go back to sell anything and i never run out bag space was worth every copper

  43. Nyctreinar on November 17th, 2008 6:20 pm

Get a haircut in Dalaran. Done!

Also got to ROFL when a rogue thought she could just jump out of the Dalaran sewers and land in the water. Well, technically, that’s true, but at that speed it’s like landing on stone.

  44. Pez on November 18th, 2008 1:52 pm

Get to 80! Almost there! (78, go go go!)

Also, my #1 goal in the game remains to get a cat mount. I know, right? I’ve seen Kil’jaeden dead, Illidan dead, old WoW bosses dead, Malygos and Arthas are coming up, and all I wanna do is get a kitty to ride around on. Seeing as I play Horde (*ducks!*), we don’t get any available cat mounts, aside from the possibility of the Swift Zulian Tiger. Working every three days on getting that one, though! One day, tiger … one day.

  45. Woodrun on November 18th, 2008 2:59 pm

Day 5 – just dinged 74 LW at 413, Rhino and Gorilla absolutely tanking the &%*@ outta everything…

BRK is the man…well dwarf anyway
