Brain Hits Northrend

BRK » 15 November 2008 » In Northrend » 33 Comments

Well BRK, you’re here. What are you going to do next?

Freak out, brain! We’re just gonna Wallow in all that is Expansion. /wallow

You know you could…

SILENCE! You interfere with the Wallowing!

OK, you may speak again.

BRK, you know you could run help some people out.

Help people? That sounds suspiciously not like Wallowing.

Yes, these people in general chat didn’t get to level to 80 on the beta. You should answer their questions.

But that would involve stopping Gorilladin from pwning all of Howling Fjord!

Yes it would. Be benevolent.

We wanna Wallow! We have Mammoth! We have Gorilladin! Space Shuttle interfered with two days of leveling, we’re so totally behind!

Benevolence.

Benevolence?

Benevolence. Think of it as leveling-karma.

OK, we’ll answer a few questions.

Very good. Proud of you.

1. General [Noob1kanoobie] how do I get to dalaran?

1. General [Bigredkitty] There are several ways: 1) find a mage…

1. General [Noob1kanoobie] you noob! where is the city dalaran!

1. General [Bigredkitty] It’s in another zone, but to get there you have to find either a mage or, there’s a neat trick you can use…

1. General [Noob1kanoobie] noob shut up! just tell me where to go!

1. General [Bigredkitty] Find the orca in the ocean. He teleports you there.

1. General [Noob1kanoobie] orca?

1. General [Bigredkitty] Orca. He’s an elite, but he’s nice. He swallows you and that’s the port to Dalaran. Mages hid the entrance there so Arthas couldn’t follow it.

1. General [Noob1kanoobie] k thax noob

Hey BRK?

Yes brain?

Feel free to wallow.

D@mn right.

    LOL GREAT Post!

    —and nice launch

    /cheer

but I wouldn’t really want to be the first to test the new onboard urine recyler

  4. Freklic on November 15th, 2008 4:17 pm

Hahahaa, Great post BRK, I haven’t LOL’d in a long time.

This is so true, I guess across all realms.

It’s only gunna get worse this weekend cause all the kids are off school…

  5. Wraiith on November 15th, 2008 4:23 pm

I believed the orca trick for a full 4 seconds and lol’d at myself for 5 mins after :)

  6. Chawa on November 15th, 2008 4:34 pm

Nice. Isn’t it incredible how Barrens chat suddenly moved to Northrend?
Of course, I couldn’t help but notice the question of the day in Org was “How do I get to Northrend”.

  7. Brian on November 15th, 2008 5:08 pm

I did the DK questline and ended up /leaving general chat. Was much more enjoyable that way. Make sure to do the DK intro, even if you don’t intend to play them, especially if you enjoy the lore and history of the Warcraft line.

  8. Portly on November 15th, 2008 5:18 pm

So not funny….. I believed it. I know BRK knows all the short cuts. I thought ok, this is unusual but it’s from BRK so it’s real. I so hate you right now…

    /giggle

ok you got me….and I am not even blonde

  9. ASH on November 15th, 2008 6:10 pm

I guess that’s what you get for being helpful to anonymous people.

Online gaming + anonymity = mass outbreak of idiotic assholes.

Oh, well.. Hope that Orca trick worked ^^

  10. Crym on November 15th, 2008 6:44 pm

That was mean…that poor Orca. It’s going to get nasty heartburn from eating all those n00bs. ^_^

  11. Hulan on November 15th, 2008 7:26 pm

Ha ha! That reminds me of someone in the early days who, fed up of the same questions in General chat, announced that Nethergarde Bitter dropped off the Fel Reaver :D

  12. kunukia on November 15th, 2008 8:00 pm

    You are a meanie…

(saying just meanie was too short and rejected, I hate that…)

  13. Fahr & Bacon on November 15th, 2008 8:26 pm

I had a good chuckle, but had to look it up a bit first to be sure you were pulling a fast one for sure first before giving it a shot. I’d like to think I’d not have been in the water until I saw the green dot on my mini-map while tracking beast, but I was tempted.

    LOL

  14. Mauryl on November 15th, 2008 9:47 pm

Of course it was funny. He tried to be nice but the way that other person responded was totally uncalled for. I hope he tried multiple times.

  15. fearstalker on November 16th, 2008 1:45 am

I corpse-ran to Dalaran, and got my bear mount the first thing there after finding the spirit healer… then spent the next two days explaining how to get there…

most people asking for help are too impatient for the answer….

  16. Nick S on November 16th, 2008 6:16 am

I’m intentionally spending most of my time in less-populous zones like Sholazar Basin. My goal at first was to avoid the ganking, but it’s wonderfully peaceful. No idiots in general chat, no competition for mobs, incredible abundance of mining nodes.

Time to go craft my engineering goggles. :-D

  17. Softi on November 16th, 2008 9:05 am

Well, Brain got me to lol, so tis all good! ;)

  18. Felandra on November 16th, 2008 10:16 am

I have done a little maneuver… Try it yourself.

    I have written /leave 1, works with /leave 2 as well.

After one idiot complained that he had to dish out 1k gold for flying in Northrend and telling me I’m being an ass for telling him that he should be happy it wasn’t 8k anymore. Well, I decided that I had had enough. Told the guy to save the gold and he would easily have 3k when he could learn riding again, and then I gleefully forgot all about /1.

  19. Viktel on November 16th, 2008 11:48 am

    Muahahahahahahaha!!!!

Great post. I recommend a good /wallow with coffee in the morning.

  20. ChessElemental on November 16th, 2008 12:41 pm

Is that seriously a true story?

It sounds too stupid to be true.

  21. Davlin-Hydraxis on November 16th, 2008 12:57 pm

So….BRK, I fell for it…but instead of checking it out, my goals have been to slowly explore all of each zone and do all the quests. I’m still in Borean Tundra, enjoying the beauty. BUT WHAT I DID DO was tell my guildies how to find the orcas and whatnot, and then I signed off….Right now I’m probably the most hated Guild Master on Hydraxis.

    –Oops.

Ha. That’s great. In Howling Fjord on Horde side “Where’s Mankrik’s wife?” has been replaced with “Where’s Anton?” Dah. He’s right there wandering up and down the road just like the quest says. “Where’s the First Aid trainer?” is also popular. Now I always try to be helpful, but mostly, I just have to turn off the new “Barrens Chat North”.

Howling Fjord is just too beautiful. I set the music on loop and just “Wallow.”

  23. mudge on November 16th, 2008 9:12 pm

Speaking of Northrend … have you noticed the achievement for 85 quests in Grizzly Hills?

    Fo’ Grizzle My Shizzle

  24. Stephf on November 17th, 2008 3:05 am

Lol, the orca eats you and teleports you to Dalaran..

Yeah, Northrend has turned into a Barrens Chat..So has some of Outland. Well, on my server anyway. Someone asked for a death knight healer and I tried to explain why death knights can only heal their ghouls. Then everyone started calling me a noob and so I left. Then they started asking why Death Coil wasnt healing their party members…Very sad.

  25. Noobiewan on November 17th, 2008 3:51 am

I would like to point out that the poor mindless noob in that conversation with BRK has nothing at all to do with this Noobie. I know where Dalaran is.

  26. GrayDeath on November 17th, 2008 9:20 am

Yep he is a meanie…. He tagged a mob i was looking for when i got there /cry

Granted repops are really quick so i wasjust waiting a minute or two.

    /wave @ BRK

  27. McTaggart on November 17th, 2008 11:01 am

“That was mean…that poor Orca. It’s going to get nasty heartburn from eating all those n00bs. ^_^”
What about the orcas? Think about the orcas! That was funny. I imagine somewhere there will be someone dumb enough to fall for it.

I’ve been hanging out in the Tundra, but it isn’t all that different. Where’s this. Where’s that. How do you do that quest that tells you exactly what to do if you read the quest log.

Clueless: “where’s the blah blah trainer?”
Me: “Dude, you are standing right next to him”.
Maybe next time I should send him to visit that nice friendly Storm Giant guy :O

  28. Predator on November 17th, 2008 12:55 pm

I wish I had 10 gold for every time I see someone post in general about dalaran or asking for a mage to port them. I would have enough for a mammoth…!

  29. Gauntlet on November 17th, 2008 1:41 pm

Horde-side, Borean Tundra: The most popular questions are “Where is the FP?” “Where is the skinning trainer?” and “Where is the First Aid Trainer?”

  30. Palladiamors on November 17th, 2008 1:55 pm

I turned off general chat a good two years ago. On those rare occasions I turn it back on, I usually have to hold my tongue. One classic case of me not was in Halaa, where I tried to explain that no one on our server really cared about Halaa, except the bored and the jerks. I got told that it made no sense, so I asked HOW it made no sense. The guy just responded ‘your obviously to stupid to understand, and if you persist then I will put you on ignore.’ Well, sometimes I has a short temper, so my response was ‘Feel free !@#hole, already beat you to it.’

  31. Tuna on November 18th, 2008 4:12 am

    Those sneaky Mages….

  32. Kemonojin on November 19th, 2008 1:56 am

So what IS the real trick, BRK?

  33. Nick "Bruski" R on November 19th, 2008 8:07 am

This reminded me of a real story that happened to me a couple weeks ago, right after patch 3.0 dropped.

randomdude: hey how do I get to northrend?!??!11
bruski: you go to stormwind harbor
    randomdude: but I’m Horde!
bruski: oh. horde have to swim. head to winterspring and go north.
    randomdude: kk, ty

bruski: [my work here is done, mwahahaha]
