Ecstasy and Agony
“Dear BRK… well I finally got it this morning so I can continue on and get back to questing (finally!). Let me share with you my wonderful experience.
“I was completely in shock and shaking as soon as I seen his name on my mini map. (Roughly 6:30 am) I quickly ran up, abandon my short time companion and tagged him (of course) and began his taming. I just prayed no one would come up and kill him while it was happening. I think I held my breath the whole time. It was a relief once it was over! I’m still a little shaky from it!
“Again, I just want to thank you again. Because I wouldn’t have pushed myself so hard to keep looking if I didn’t see you find him first! Love, Tikidoll.”
“Dear BRK, I just spent a day seeking the legendary Spirit Beast; a good ten hours is not an unreasonable estimation. Zealously I made loops and loops around Sholazar, hoping that one lap would be the one. I finally found him after who knows how many searches, and boy, was I ecstatic. “What a beautiful creature,” I thought. “Surely, this will be my favorite companion in my adventures.”
“At that moment, a Horde rogue began attacking the Spirit Beast, my Spirit Beast! That rogue must have known my intentions and proceeded to Shadowstep behind me and tear me to shreds before I knew what was happening. I panicked. I couldn’t think about anything except taming the beast, but that rogue would not let me, and spawn-camped me for multiple rezes. Finally the rogue killed the beast, and simply ran off. All I could do was sit and watch as I was still a ghost. I was furious. Never had such an affront been made to me. All that work, just to have it robbed from me.
“For all those hunters out there who have had a similar experience, I feel your pain. I’m sure you understand me BRK, having had such difficulties on the beta. Urkstentz”

Just put it this way, all the sweeter when you DO tame that Spirit Beast and the Big Red Version of it can let that rogue know what he thinks of him the next time the two of you cross paths. ;P
I feel your pain, seems like people have been inspired by the launch to be more asshats than usual.
I have been ganked and CC’d more in the last week than I have been in the last year. I finally got tired of it and started squeezing in a few hours before work at 6am and it still happens. Not once in my last two years have I ever been ganked never mind CC’s at that hour. I don’t think I want this kitty, but I know that as soon as I ding 80 I ll be patrolling his spawns for people like the one that grief’d you. Good luck.
If i see general chat saying that someone got ganked while taming the spirit beast they’re going to be KoS for a long time. That’s like attacking someone doing the rhok quest, You don’t do it unless you want to be camped until you log out.
Not just ganking him, but CAMPING him AND killing Loque?
Oi. I may not want the thing, and I fully plan on killing it for the achievement if no Hunters in the area are aiming to tame it, but damn, that’s the most spineless move I’ve heard of in months.
Thank the Light for being on a non-PVP server. At least my gameplay isn’t controlled by the whim of 12-year old brats like that.

Why do people go out of their way to abuse and annoy others?
I will never understand it. Ever.
Lol, It’s called PVP
This is one of the reasons why I play PVE. Too many kids on PVP compared to on PVE
wow that sucks about the rogue ass. Here’s my story:
I just dinged 76 two nights ago and, after having nothing else to do, decided to go look for the spirit beast to cure my boredom. I knew I probably wouldn’t happen but I decided to take my chances anyways. I looked up a map online where she spawns and headed out with my epic land mount. An hour passed with no luck – I didn’t plan on looking for even an hour but I kept thinking that I’ll find her. After the 1st hour I decided to just check one last place before heading to sleep. I had started using a macro just 15 minutes before to target her if she was in range, also. I thought it probably wouldn’t work but I was wrong! The last place I checked the rare popped up on my screen from pressing the macro! I almost had a heart attack. I quickly got rid of ‘The Kurken” and ice trapped her. I knew I had seen a lot of hunters in the spot just a few minutes before I got there, no doubt checking for the spirit beast as well, and i also saw a lot of other horde movement in the area earlier. I still had ‘Track Beasts’ on but in my haste to tame her I forgot to put on ‘Track Humanoids’ but still thought I had it on, so I was eyeing my minimap like crazy to see if a little red dot showed up on it. then it was over! She shrunk a a bit and she was mine! i couldn’t believe it! I thought I would have gotten ganked or something before I even made it that far IF I even saw her!
And now ‘Snowfall’ the spirit beast is my favorite pet! <3 Good luck finding her, guys! :]
Was it a Blood Elf Rogue? It had to be. Right?
I looked for about 5 minutes, found her, tamed her, and got offered 1000 gold another hunter who showed up just a few seconds too late
Here’s how it went down with my mage the other day. In the style of BRK brain no less.
Lono:A red hunter!!! And he’s getting ready to tame the spirit beast! Brain? Is that the same on that ganked us earlier?
Brain: I don’t know but he just dismissed the same kind of green lava dog.
Lono: KILL!!! EASY KILL!!!
Brain: That would be really evil, the spirit beast is rare. That poor player will be really pissed and miserable. It’s a human being too after all.
Lono: /cast frostfire bolt
Brain: Bad Lono
Lono: /instant hotstreak pyroblast
Brain: Happy now? He’s burned to a crisp.
Lono: /dance
Brain: What are you going to do now? Kill the beast to piss him off??
Lono: /1 Spirit beast at xx,xx. Come quick hunters!!
After reganking the hunter to make sure he doesn’t get the beast.
Lono: Look brain, we made a friend, and he gifted us with money. We’re smart like that.
Brain: …
And that’s why you play on PvE servers.
As a Horde Orc Hunter, I say shame on the rogue. He should have let you tame the pet, then killed you. Or killed the pet, then you. ;P
Seriously, there are idiots and jerks on both sides of the faction war.
I am a hunter also and i hate ppl that do such crappy things…can you give us the name of the rogue please? so that someone can gank the shit out of him?
I’m just truely happy no one messed with me while taming. I would have probably trolled them the rest of my wow days.
Happy hunting
You really should tell us the name of the rogue and the server so everyone can kill him on sight. Really hate morons like that but unfortunately Warcraft is full of them. Better luck next time getting your spirit beast. I’m not interested in one myself but while I herb Sholazar I am always on the lookout for him/her for anyone that is.
As a Horde Hunter I am ashamed that this happened! He should have (at least) let you tame it then tried to kill you…HK for him, pet for you.
I agree with above…post his name and server that kinda twit-like behaviour smacks of pre-school!
~Hunter Noob? BRK Fo’shizzle!
Say hello to Alliance vs. Horde.
Going back to BRK’s previous post when he copped all that grief for killing someone who was fishing in the opposing faction’s city, unspoken rules of conduct are much more necessary on a PvP server than on a PvE server which already has safeguards (to a degree) against a lot of @ss-hattery.
In my view on a PvE server there’s no reason one side should make life any easier for the other. There are overwhelmingly more opportunities for safe refuge. But on a PvP server there should be greater emphasis on codes of conduct as the consequences are more severe.
If it’s PvP, show some class.
If it’s PvE, your @ss is grass.

So if I have understood this post correctly, the lack of the Spirit Beast being a top dps pet was done on purpose and not a bug thats going to be corrected?
And grats to all that have gotten this pet so far, best looking skin in all of wow, all I have gotten is filthy rich from mining while looking for the beast
In my view on a PvE server there’s no reason one side should make life any easier for the other.
Y’know, except for that little thing called common courtesy?
No joke, absolutely nothing wrong with being polite to people. ESPECIALLY on a Pve server, where people who don’t want to be @$$hats or have people be that way to them go. I personally have no guff with a great deal of most horde players. Just the jerks.
RP, and RP-PvP servers, you have the possibly forgiveable excuse of being in character. Its a thin line with me, but something I usually let pass. PvP servers….. the whole ‘yur flgged yur ded!’ excuse is good for a kill yes. But that is a kill, and not a full on onslaught of @$$hattery. That is childish, immature, and doesn’t speak well for your character in general. Kill some one, sure. Once. If they come after you after that, make it twice, or however long it takes for their tiny brains to get the point. But corpse camping is just some epeen stroking jerks way of making him or herself feel better about their total lack of a life, and or social skills.
To be honest, I could have understood it if he’d killed the spirit beast, and THEN you, but not camping you until your spawn timer was five minutes, and then the beast. That is just wrong, and takes a true jerk hole
I never said one side should be rude to the other.
for the horde! haha
When I was taming my white corehound there was a nice friendly line of alliance waiting their turn to tame. A couple of us were dueling to get the achievement, waiting for our turn. Then a flagged hordie runs up and throws down a freezing trap just as the Kurken respawns. Well, let’s just say that Mr. Horde hunter didn’t get his white puppy dog that day
Karma gets you in the end.. allways does..
Perhaps that rogue has a lvl 58 DK alt and accidently ended up on the boat from SW ?
- Or he really really wanted that achievment that requires you to fish in SW ?
It is so easy for us hunters, with track humanoids to kill others…
When you do that, do you really expect them NOT to react when they see a chance to grief a hunter ?
tbh could be he read this blog .. saw that BRK dint care about other peoples achivements when it came to fishing so why should he care about hunters taming rare beasts as a achivement
This is why you keep a list of memorable people on the opposing side. Find him and ruin his life. If you can’t find him, kill every rogue you come across. It’ll make you feel better at the very least, and they’re rogues… even they know they deserve it.
No. I don’t even have to TELL you why that karma crap is BS. There is NO excuse for that level of jerkhood. Move along, and stop trying to excuse the immature actions of others. And Qasjot, reading comprehension is your friend. It wasn’t BRK who got jackassed, it was some poor bugger elsewhere. And honestly, if some one is taking vengence on a total stranger for some one else’s heinous actions, thats even worse. That is taking what some one did to you, that potentially upset or angered you, and doing it to some one else. That not only makes zero sense, but is the height of stupidity.
And seriously, get the !@#$ over the fishing kill.
And seriously, get the !@#$ over the fishing kill.
Same principle, albeit a lower level of douchebaggery.
The rogues actions were terrible, but when you have immature players, you have immature actions. However, for every 60 of those twerps, you have a genuinely decent person pop up from time to time.
What I would like to see, is when someone tames this pet, for them to list the spawn point coords and server time they got him at… kind of give a helping hand to the brotherhood..
I know its a reward for dedication, but I don’t have 60 hours a week to devote to it.. I wish I did.
I’ve just killed King Krush…. a night elf was sitting by him, eating, without a pet
I feel bad
Seeing that kind of story just brings up a bitter taste in the back of my throat. I hope that hunter got his/her revenge and made that undead (I can almost guarantee it was undead) rogue go home crying. Being on a PvE server the worst I could do would be a couple of rude emotes while he stands their laughing behind their PvE flag-less cowardice. Killing a hunter mid-tame is tasteless enough, killing them AND their tame target (especially if it’s something as rare as Loque) is an example of d-baggery at it’s finest, or worst.
and this is what makes WoW exciting, the struggles and challenges to get those epic rewards. I am glad to see how much pvp is having a role now in loot as fighting against unpredictable players is really enjoyable compared to a computer run mob.

got mine just an hour ago its the 2nd in my guild one of my guildies found his last night … so i go there tonight same time and the is my new pet just waiting to be tamed
panicattack and achilles
Got mine of Saturday just by luck. logged in at one of the known locations of a possible spawn and there he was all by himself (we must have zoned in at the same time) with no one around. dummy me laid the wrongtrap down (frost instead of freeze) saw all this white stuff around him as he walked by. Oh crap, quiclky laid down the right one (freeze) the timer was up and started to tame him anddidn’t see my tame beast button on the sidebar. Damn, quickly open my spell book tab over to the spell and started to tame him. Got two thirds of the way taming him and the trap broke. was still on him and a few seconds later I had me a spirit beast. Not sure what to name him yet.
Just when I thought living in sholazar couldn’t get any more frustrating, I found a hunter with TWO spirit beasts…
Where is his spawn location?
