Got me one of these a time back. Beautiful. What bugged me is that it doesn’t quite look like the Wyrmrest Red Drakes, as far as I remember, and it still has the dopey face of the white one.

  5. Atreju on December 2nd, 2008 12:03 am

Still can’t get over the fact at how ugly their fuckin’ tales are, but that might just be me.

Grats, BRK. Hope that a Proto-Drake is up next so I can lob some Gorilladin poo at you out of envy.

  11. Bloodtrip on December 2nd, 2008 3:49 am

So, what is the percent speed of this guy? or are the epic flying mounts the same speeds as Outland epics?

Gotta love the Prince reference too. I was just thinking the other day how awesome these are in comparison to the nether drakes. Grats Kitty!

  15. Vozzy on December 2nd, 2008 6:06 am

Ahh, this is what I’m trying to save up for.

Epic gear? Nah – I want the damn DRAGON! haha. :p

But first I think I’ll need my epic flyer skill.. yeah.. =[ I hit 80 a few days ago and this is my 1st char – I reached 70 after wotlk came out too, so I’m going to work on finishing up the quests in the last two zones I have to work on (have the achievements for all the others) for some cash.. hopefully it’ll bring me close, if not enough, for that epic flyer skill..

  16. Woodrun on December 2nd, 2008 8:08 am

did somebody say WoW? I love these drakes, I think they look awesome!

  17. ILoveApes on December 2nd, 2008 9:15 am

Is this the drake from exalted with Wyrmrest Accord? I am almost to revered, so freakin jealous…

  18. Nymiria on December 2nd, 2008 10:14 am

    Congrats BRK :)

  19. Ximera on December 2nd, 2008 10:44 am

Maybe I do need to get that gold guide, because BRK seems to have a limitless supply of gold while i seem to never even be able to afford epic flying training. Grats, looks awesome

  20. Pelides on December 2nd, 2008 11:29 am

You really went for the drake before your Argent Crusade chestpiece?

  21. kunukia on December 2nd, 2008 11:41 am

Grats. I’m jealous. My main just hit 76 last night. Given how much I play, I could have had two 80s by now, if it weren’t for all the alts. Oh, well, it is all good fun, and maybe going through the content slowly (and multiple times) is even better. But…

I AM NOW OFFICIALLY LOOKING FOR THE SPIRIT BEAST ON SILVER HAND…so everyone stay out of my way.

  22. Stupid Mage on December 2nd, 2008 12:18 pm

Right, Spirit Beast on Silver Hand, kill on sight ;)

  23. WB on December 2nd, 2008 12:43 pm

He hit exalted in less than a week after hitting 80. Wyrmrest and Kalu’ak are the easiest to grind prior to 80 because the dailies are availble in the mid-70’s. Are Ebon Hold and Argent Crusade the more important? Yes. But you can’t get past neutral with Ebon or friednly with Crusade until Icecrown.

And a drake in less than a week… pretty cool.

Yeah, if you’re leveling to go hardcore for raiding ASAP, then grinding Wyrmrest may not be the best use of your time. But if you’re enjoying the new content waiting for guildies to hit 80 and start to raid, then by all means feel free to play your game. That may include grinding the “wrong” rep. It may also include playing around with different gear. And don’t forget the whole Achievement system.

  24. WB on December 2nd, 2008 12:44 pm

P.S. I hate the achievement system.

  25. Kinzlayer on December 2nd, 2008 12:59 pm

I love the achievement system, mind you I’m loving it for only one reason. I can’t remember crap for the life of me so the achievement systems is perfect to let me keep track of what I am doing, a list of things I wana do rather then sitting at my desk each night scratching my head wondering what I was doing yesterday.

    /cheers BRK on the mount

  26. WB on December 2nd, 2008 1:27 pm

Actually Kinzlayer, that does make me rethink my position slightly.

It does give you a nice way to keep track of where you were and what you were doing. I don’t particularly care for the complete every quest in Kalimdor, cook every food in blah blah blah. It is a nice system, even a reward system, for many of the players, parituclarly if they don’t raid. I see it as a bit of an epeen in the future, but that’s always goign to be there.

What I do particularly like though is the guildchat announcement of someone hitting a certain achievement. The LEVEL 80 achievement is particularly cool to see in our guild as the second wave of raiders hits 80. Meanwhile, the first wave clears Naxx-10 plague quarter, the announcement in guildchat pops up and everyone gives a big shout out. So, it’s a nice way of keeping track of the progress of your fellow guildmates.

My Time-Lost Proto-Drake beats your skinny red snake-drake any day, buddy! :P

  28. Zanpher on December 2nd, 2008 3:16 pm

Since my stupid work place is dumb enough to block wow head. .. Is this the 310% speed mount from the beta thats available to everybody? Or did blizz nerf those mounts?

  29. Haarits on December 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm

The epeen will be evident next Brewfest, probably, as those who got the Brew of the Month will have completed that achievement, which is a requirement for the… um… Violet Proto-Drake? A “do every holiday achievement” award, basically. Sadly, it’ll be another year for me, I had something like 8 tokens to go to get the BotM, opting for the pony keg & such beforehand… thought I had an extra day on the weekend not realizing that “ends on X date” meant “at 4am/server-reset on X date”. D’oh! Maybe Blizz will be nice and make all 12 brews available next October from the BotM vendors, so new BotM subscribers can quickly catch up (and then still get their monthly treats like normal)

  30. Zanpher on December 2nd, 2008 11:24 pm

Just got home, looks like mounts got the nerf in the expansion .. erk

  31. Haarits on December 3rd, 2008 12:48 pm

…which mounts? I can’t check Wowhead at work, but Wowwiki still lists at least the 3 really tough-to-get Proto-Drakes as 310% (Violet from year-long holiday, and Black and Plagued from Heroic & Normal Glory of the Raider). All 3 require a pretty hefty investment of time & energy and probably not a little luck (the Brewmaster portion of the achievement requires you get one of the mounts, for instance, and most of the raiding achievements require some pretty strict criteria) so having them still be 310%, if they are, makes a certain amount of sense.
