Our First Purplez

Forty Emblems of Heroism will buy you one of these fancy baubles. This is our second piece of new “badge gear“.  We can’t wait to see how frequently it procs!

You know, we have two Fangs of Truth, and now a Mirror of Truth. Is the game trying to tell us something? /o.O

Just for the artistically curious, we do indeed work at positioning our pet for these shots. In this instance, we knew we wanted Loq pointing to the right, but we waited until he did a little head-shimmy so his mouth was facing down and to the left before taking the screenshot. It puts his head in the only rectangular opening in the frame that’s big enough to actually see the features of his face. It’s the little details like this that make us excited about posting gear-pics. We’re really happy to see people comment about it, even if they’re wondering if we’re photoshopping stuff.

And, of course, the “Stat Summary” is from Rating Buster. It’s comparing the stats of the MoT versus our currently equipped trinkets, left = top ! right = bottom. Trinket stat summaries are usually hard to measure via direct math, so in this case we didn’t even bother. It’s currently equipped, so it’s being compared against itself on the left column of numbers in the Stat Summary.

Note: T-shirt orders have not arrived here yet. We have Friday as a vacation day, so we anticipate the order arriving this week and us boogieing to the post office on Friday, so you should have your orders early next week.

Very nice trinket, curious to see if the TBC ‘hidden cooldown’ of 45 secs is carried over to this trinket. :If that is the case and you’d crit atleast once every 50 seconds the trinket would be activated about once every 45+5=50 seconds. 10 seconds of 1000 AP averages out to 200 AP over 50 seconds after which the the trinket might proc again. +84 crit and 200AP on average make this a seriously powerful trinket, I’d say a must have

Hmm apparently I can’t use certain symbols, My post above is speculation, based on the 45 sec hidden cooldown of TBS trinkets like the Hourglass of the Unraveller.

I haven’t done the math, but I see it proc fairly often…at least once a boss fight in heroics. I’ve read that it’s a base 166-200 AP boost…but can be more if you hold your BW+RF+AP Trinket+CotW+Rabid+whatever else you have for the proc…I rarely do wait for the proc because that might mean one less BW later in the fight, so I can’t say if it’s worth it.

I knew you were putting the pet in there on purpose. Looks good though.

i got a mana regen proc trincket
and as shaman it sees chain heal(with glyph) as 4 cast
im keeping this proc up all the time
or the TBC timer is removed or it’s bugged bigtime

  7. Nick S on December 2nd, 2008 9:23 am

@Feanas Your guess seems about right, based on my experience.

It seems disproportionately likely to proc on the first crit of a fight, which supports the 45-second internal cooldown idea.

No doubt one of the best Hunter trinkets in the game at the moment, though I hate to lose the synergy TBW has with two on-use trinkets.

by 1000.. O_o I am used to seeing by 250 for spell power on mages, that would be lovely if it was 1000 spell power for 10 seconds :)

Now I just need more of my guildies to get to 80 so we can start running the heroics.

    /sigh

is there a way to change the transparency of the windows like that. Sometimes i have a had time reading them

  12. Ralasti on December 2nd, 2008 1:03 pm

    Nice trinket… :)

Just hit 80 last night, and got my Black Warbear for trampling over all the Alliance bosses in one go…

Is there any keying/attunement for Heroics at 80?

  13. Shagrat on December 2nd, 2008 1:12 pm

@Ralasti-There are no attunements for the level 80 heroics like there was in BC. Just hit 80 and you can dive right into the heroics.

That’s a pretty sweet trinket. I wonder what your thoughts are on the neck that can be purchased with badges as well.

Very nice trinket, curious to see if the TBC ‘hidden cooldown’ of 45 secs is carried over to this trinket.

It did. It works just like Hourglass of the Unraveller in that regard.

  15. Ronin on December 2nd, 2008 11:36 pm

Not sure if its only my server, but has anyone have trouble with this trinket as far as procting on range? Mine and a friends seem to be broken and wont proc at all. Spoken with GM’s about it and all they said that they were looking into it.

Here is my anonymous webstats report from our first kill of 25man Sartharian and Archavon: http://wowwebstats.com/jmzpnkpodkg4o?a=x3b0b04#buffs (I am Ganymede)

The buff is called Reflection of Torment and I got it 29 times in a 2 hour long raid.

2 times in the 7′ 37″ kill of Sartharion
4 times in the 4′ 32″ kill of Archavon

The rogue Heian also has the trinket if you want to look at that.

  17. Gorgor on December 3rd, 2008 10:10 am

Oh and to go with the above anonymous stats I looked @ our first Loatheb kill a couple days ago which, IIRC, was my first raid with the trinket.

I got Reflection of Torment to proc 6 times in the 6′14″ long Loatheb fight. So once per 45-60sec sounds absolutely correct. The spore bonus of +50% crit helps.

  18. Nick S on December 3rd, 2008 11:23 am

    @Gorgor

Your numbers seem in line with mine. I had three procs each on those two bosses (10-man) last night.

It’s definitely a really, really good trinket… I had that, Bestial Wrath, and the Orb of Red Dragon’s Blood up all at the same time last night, and crit for 14.5k with Kill Shot. That’s just stupidly awesome.

  19. Kleshta on December 3rd, 2008 12:33 pm

It’s the new Hourglass of the Unraveller the ppm is very good (around 1,5 in raid with good gear / buff) a must have for a BM hunter for sure :)

  20. Gorgor on December 3rd, 2008 3:37 pm

    @ Nick S

Currently my unbuffed crit is only around 24%, compared to 29-30% at the end of BC. So I’m sure I’ll start getting more procs on long boss fights once I get start building up the crit rating again.

If everything lines up (rampage, Reflection of Torment, that DK buff to AP, Hyjal ring) I’m seeing close to 6k AP. Though I have not gotten that big of a kill shot crit yet, 11k is about the top I’ve seen.

  21. Nick S. on December 3rd, 2008 5:51 pm

    @Gorgor

25% crit here, and our MT is a Druid so I can count on that Leader of the Pack hotness. Fully raid buffed I get around 31%, sometimes up to 34% if all the buffs are just right and I use food/Agi elixirs.

My actual active buffs for that huge crit were:
    Bestial Wrath
    Abomination’s Might (DK AP buff)
    LotP
    Heart of a Dragon
    Reflection of Torment
    Tricks of the Trade (important!)

I also had Berzerking (troll racial) up, but that’s just Haste.

That put me around 7.2k AP for ~5 seconds, with a x1.265 (1.10 from BW times 1.15 from ToT) all-damage modifier – as soon as I saw all those buffs up I slammed Kill Shot, praying for the big crit. Contrary to what a lot of people seem to be doing (Kill Shot as soon as it’s active so as to get more than one off) I’ve been waiting to get buffs up before firing it. I’d rather have one 14.5k crit than two 6k crits, you know?

If you’re at the top of the DPS meters (which I assume you are; Hunters are machines right now) ask your Rogues to give you Tricks of the Trade and your (blood) DKs to give you Hysteria. Better yet, have them give both buffs at the same time to your pet, then pop Bestial Wrath with trinkets/Rapid Fire/whatever you have. I’ve held onto 5000 single-target DPS for 10 continuous seconds with that combination, though it takes some serious convincing to get them to give those buffs to a pet. :-)
