BRK Heroic Test-Run
Since we last did instance-movies, technology has changed. Our Mac-Client has gotten better, the addons have been modified, and YouTube’s format structure is different. This movie is our first attempt at working with all this stuff to produce the best hunter-guide movie we can.
All constructive criticism is welcome. Format, angles, topics of discussion, anything you think can be improved, we want to know about it. The subject of the movies are going to be our decision — such as using a Nexus run to start our pre-work — and strategies are typically covered for all other class in many places. We focus on hunter-strategy, remember that, please.

Whats that SCT ur usin BRK?
The Quicktime format isn’t a big deal, PCs can view that also. I think the angle is fine, shows it from the player’s perspective. Commentary is good also. I think this is an excellent project, it should help out hunters tremendously. Thanks, BRK. Love your blog, read it regularly.

Are you still using steady while AOTV is up?
@Valrik I usually do — at least with my weapon speed, I get more mana than steady costs, so it maximizes damage output while giving me a little extra mana during the regen phase.
And BRK, what addon is that for the scrolling combat text? I’ve been looking for something like that, and that looks to do exactly what I’m after.

one question, how wide (inches) is your screen and whats that res (1900xsomething pixels?) I’ll just kill for fitting that many information while keeping center screen clear…

points to consider.
1) when naming an add-on and your describing how you use it. please comment if you customized it or its right out of the box config. I have SCT and mine is not like that at all. all the numbers are mixed together and I get Icon’s for the type of spells. someone above linked SCTD So now I don’t know if I have the “correct” one. I do like the way you set yours up and want to replicate.
2)This was a test of the emergency broadcast system. If this was not a test then the instructor would of provided instructions on how not to be a huntard.
3) since you were not presenting anything your camera movement was good. I personally prefer very little camera movement so that I can study a part of the screen at a time and not have to track it when the camera moves. Leaving it out at a wide angle is great.
4) the screen was a bit busy with all the controls, but that is unfortunately what is needed to be a hunter in wow. Huge amounts of information.
5) on a technical notes nicely produced and to Answer the other posters question. Some times he over dubs and other times he does not. in this case I think this was a raw run on the fly dialog (because it was a test)
All in all a respectful test.

Nice vid. A little feedback.
First of all, I’m not a native english-speaking person, and your voice is usually very clear, I almost catch every word, or at least the meaning of the sentence. Some vids you made where sometimes not that clear but it was generally funny vids when excitement makes you speak quickly. So keep on the calm voice, really good.
To be sure to get every piece of information out of the movie, I’d love the names and links of the addons in the commentary, or you could add the name in big letters in a square on the screen while talking about it. Like some subtitles.
I don’t have any specific remark on this movie, but sometimes, you could use some kind of freeze-and-zoom, when you’re doing something important, or pointing to something special. Or use an arrow or a circle do draw attention to it.
Anyway, I always find your vids very useful and clear. Thank you very much for the hard work, they are great. I can’t wait for some vids about what a hunter have to do in Naxx and the other raids.

Brk, what is the ui you’re using? It looks so nice and spaced out, unlike my jammed up little wow ui that gives me very little screen space @_@ help a fellow crammed screen hunter out!
is there any way you can show us the way you set up your combat text scrolling? There are so many options on how to set it up and I really like the way you have done it. Can you maybe show us screenshots of the SCt menu so we can replicate? Thanks

First off, download SCT and SCTD

Type /sct menu to enter setup mode ingame.
All you see on first screen here is incomming NOT outgoing damage.
Uncheck everything if you want.
Now, lets move down to SCTD (scrollingcombattext damage).
Check/alter settings listed here:

Periodic Damage
Spell/Skill Damage
Pet Damage
Sticky Crit
– SCTD Display —
Spell Color
Spell Name
Disable WoW Damage

Damage Animation Type: HUD ANGLED
Damage Side Style: ALTERNATING
