I did this last week. I had top damage and top dps for the raid! hunters ftw
After doing the Wrathgate event in Northrend, I don’t want to go out and kill the horde leaders (mixed feelings about Thrall and Silvanas crystalized on the positive side) anymore.
King Varian Wrynn is a racist bleeping son of a bleep. >:( Sure he went through some very very tough times and endured some very trying circumstances, and I can feel some sympathy for him. But that doesn’t mean I have to blindly follow his lead, especially when he himself is blind to reason.

That DPS number is pretty surprising…
As yet my best DPS on a boss fight thus far is around 4400… I would have expected a little bit more.
Makes me wonder if I’m doing something wrong… similar spec, more AP, more crit %, more ArPen, more Haste, and capped hit… there’s has to be a difference outside of gear that I’m failing to account for. Perhaps it’s just because I never get a chance at a stand-and-deliver fight with no variables like the city bosses are.

I’m still sad that I haven’t found any horde versions of this. I’d like to see Varian bite the dust.

Gotta say I love my black war bear too! Killing the leaders was fun….Sylvanas was by far the toughest, but it didn’t help that by the time we had killed the other 3 and made it to her there was a more than ample amount of horde waiting for us. Good times and congrats on that mount! He’s awesome.

Nice numbers while they last
I’m in Naxx-25 right now, recovering after a 4H wipe, Right now our three top DPSers include myself (5400), Mage#1 (5600) and Mage#2 (5600).
Having practically every buff I could receive really helped pull this one through.
I spend a lot of time in Thunder Bluff and the other day was the first time I’d ever seen a group come in for this achievement there. My server doesn’t seem to have a lot of organized groups like this very much and that’s a shame.
Ahh Kitty, why do you preen over dps that is overpowered and about to get nerfed? You know I love you, but it doesn’t say much for your character.

I meant that in the BEST way possible.
And although we’re getting a nerf, it’s not TOO big. It’s big, but steady shot isn’t where all our damage is coming from. The nerfs to our pet could have been a lot worse too.
What was the latest projections on the nerf? Something like a 10% loss in total dps, maybe more? Given those (vaguely remembered) numbers, it looks like he’ll still be top dps when the smoke clears.
For the second boss on the vid, I like the contrast between the furious battle and gunshops and roars, and the nice little elevator music of the place
Wow…when I did those things, I had a frame rate of -10. Time for an upgrade.
As for needing a nerf, sure…but I think the nerf is going to be a little heavier then it should be.
I’m not impressed since that DPS is attainable a day after dinging 80 in Sunwell gear.
Break 5k dps on a tank/spank non-gimmick bossfight, then come again.

Because everyone can invest 5-6 hours a night 5 nights a week to raid right? Give me a break. I hate elitists.
Everyone should be able to kill Varian. That guy’s a jerk. I’m looking forward to earning this acheivement, (For the horde!) in hopefully a group that knows how to be organized and not these cluster F*&$ pugs that try to kill Thrall on an almost daily basis.

Mehh.. I have to say, after seeing 200 black war bears on parade in Dallyland all weekend, this is one achievement I won’t be doing. There must have been 12 raids going on doing this over the weekend. I’ll farm the rare-spawn drake instead…
After all that, no clip of the bear? I’ve yet to see one.
I just got my achievement and mount last night/early this morning. I know it’s not as big a deal as it used to be, but I had never seen the Alliance cities before since I’ve always been Horde. Taking the tram was the highlight for me. Seeing 38 Orcs and Taurens crammed into one tram car would make the most stone-faced British guard giggle.

That is what I was thinking when I read your original comment.
I’m calling BS. Link a WWS report with you (or anyone else, for that matter) at 4400 DPS using only BC gear.
Since I’m the best hunter who always plays at 100% of his potential, I plugged in the best BC gear, sans thori’dal, in the spreadsheet.
Total DPS 4505.61
Which, accidentally is only 200 DPS short of what Munken (SK hunter with thori’dal for you mouthbreathers) did at level 70. Which is also 100 DPS higher than your idol did on a similar tank and spank fight.

So go back to try and find your MD button since apparently it takes an exceptional hunter to MD properly.

Just because you can hit SWP and all the other high-end raids and get the best gear doesnt make you better, just means you are in a good raiding guild.
For those “real” players who have responsibilities to others (see kids/spouse/work) we are impressed because BRK shares his knowledge and shows what is attainable with some effort not some elite a**wiper whose knowledge of WoW is only overshadowed by his obivous lack of RL skills.
Just did this achievement tonight. A pug, and was the best time i have ever had in WoW. was loads of fun. (A 40 man PuG, with no drama queens, no aggro, amazing!)
okay okay, so we did it at midnight local time, when the server was due to go down for maintenance in two hours, but it was still fun and epic. And still slightly harder than the horde who raided magni at 4am on sunday/monday.
Poor Magni. If they’d gone for Varian, i wouldve helped. Something about that guy just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe the way all the human toons never show up to protect Tyrande…

In case you live under a rock (and you apparently do), SWP isn’t hard until M’uru prenerf. Post 3.0 it was a joke and got /2 pugged on my server.
If it’s a raider IQ issue, they should stay the hell away of actually challenging raid instances and go wipe on Curator or something.
As for your “I HAVE WIFE/KIDS/DEAD GOLDFISH” bullcrap, I have an example of a close relative who also has a wife, kids, dead goldfish, RL pets etc. He cleared BT and got 3/6 in SWP before Wrath of the Whiny Casual King.
Also, that achievement is trivial at level 80. Try doing it at 70 and you might’ve had the experience of a hard boss. My black bear from early October is proof and I pugged it in /2. So shush and stop talking about things you don’t understand.
You’re also “obviously” an inferior player with IQ < room temperature because pulling the RL card is your only hope of presenting a plausible counter-argument to a superior being such as myself. (speaking of which, RL has nothing to do with it and you’re a d-bag)
As for BRK. He’s “nice”. That’s about it. All the work you give him credit has already been done by truly godlike hunters who worked their asses off to parse the in-game numbers just so failures like you can mousewheel a 5-line macro and go “I R THE DPS GOD”.
Want to achieve something with effort? Sartharion25+3. He’s the only remotely challenging encounter in the game so far, as in he takes more than 4 tries to kill.
Now go… gather some moss or something.
