Sometimes the Posts Write Themselves

teamMerry Christmas to all the hunters and the lesser classes who are deranged enough to read this blog. Y’all ain’t right in the head, but we loves ya anyway. We’d love to give each and every one of you a nice present, something to show our appreciation for your support of our insane asylum.

So we’ll do it, but with a little help.

We know someone who knows someone who’s second cousin is a friend of a guy who has a pizza delivery dude who’s niece has deep connections into the sordid bowels of Blizzard, itself. Now, this person is doing a little thing for her favorite charity, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). She wants to raise a little pot of Hope for some sick folks with cancer. And we got asked if we could help. Well duh! Of course we’re all-in to help raise money!

What does this have to do with you and Warcraft? Get this: if you donate $25, you’ll have a chance for one of two 12-month WoW subscription cards. And it gets better

If she raises $5,500 by January 5th, 2009, she’s going to draw one more name, the prize will be having her pay for your WoW subscription for as long as you keep playing!

Here’s where to go to read all about it, and in the spirit of Christmas and letting the opposing faction fish unmolested in your capital city, donate to a very good cause.

Didn’t you already ask for money during the ezra thing and it pissed some people off? Merp at least we’re getting 1 year of subscriptions this time

What angered people was our small army all logging in at the same time crashed the authentication server for North America. The requests for donations have never started a riot, not even a little one.

VERY good cause BRK, I wish the donations the best of luck. =]
Good job, love the new (old?) podcast by the way!

While I think this is a good cause and a nice incentive for some, I am confused about the concept of pulling two names out of a hat to each receive one of three cards. What happens to that poor third card?

  5. Bucephalos on December 24th, 2008 7:12 pm

    I donated.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Team in Training is awesome. Two of my brothers trained for triathalons with them and another brother is training for a marathon.

Will donate on the first for sure, right now I’m broke! Ahh, Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all, and thanks BRK for a great year of reading (and listening)!

LLS is a great charity. Been giving to them for years. Losing a loved one to cancer is a horrible thing but a little donation here and there can really make a difference for someone.

Good on your friend of a friend of a relative of a friend at Blizz.

This is the reason I read BRK, the wonderfully giving spirit this community has because of BRK. He gives of his time, money, and him self to help faceless players, commenters and even the trolls. Listening to the podcast and reading the blog, has made me laugh out loud, and really enjoy playing my hunter. Because of him I’ve really made an effort to play my hunter the best that I can.

Thank you BRK for all that you do for the WOW community! Thank you for all that you’ve done for the charities. Because of you I went and donated, I’ve personally experienced a family member that has survived cancer, and I think this is a fantastic charity, and I think you deserve everything you wish for from Santa :)

Thank you for the great podcast!! And thank you for making me laugh so hard, but not so hard that I crash and die while driving.

Thank you for being a model that the hunter community can look up too.

Thank you for all you do.

    Sabiba

P.S. I ordered my shirts in the nick of time aparently!! I can’t wait to get my gorilladin shirt!! ;)

    :O

If WoW is still around in 25 years (and half of me hopes it will be, the other half kinda wishes it won’t), my mind simply cannot comprehend what the average level-cap player’s stats will be like. Not to mention the hit points of the raid bosses.

    *cross-eyed*

Great cause, Teh BRicK, have a merry Winter Veil and a truly imba New Year. :D

This is also going to help me. Going into wrath I was finding it hard to locate much via quest rewards that had better stats then my 70 raid gear. :/ Being 80 now only 3 bits of my gear has been replaced, and I’ve done all of tundra, fjord, and dragon blight.
looks like I might have to raid the AH >.>

I tried to donate, but as I live in Denmark the website doesn’t like my address :/

  17. Fluffywumpki of Dethecus on December 26th, 2008 2:46 am

@Kai well, those are all lower level areas. Do some quests in Sholazar or Storm Peaks, and the later chains will be giving you replacement gear. Even the starting chains in Icecrown might replace a couple of your items.

    Hey everyone!

I wanted to thank you guys (and gals) for your support, and I especially wanted to thank BRK for his help in getting the word out about my fundraiser :) .

@Awlbiste: I’ve fixed the two cards != three names issue. That was a slight oversight on my part after obtaining a third card.

@Nis: In the donation window, there’s a link in the top right corner that says “International Donors Click Here”. I know a few people missed that, so hopefully that link will resolve the issue for you :) .

Thanks again and Happy Holidays!! <3

We sent checks to charities this year instead of decorating or buying gifts. Got nothing left (especially after having to buy tire chains after the worst snowfall in 40 years – seriously, last time we had snow like thsi was 1968), but I’ll see if eBay will help me unload some extra computers, and then I can toss a bone to LLS.

There’s nothing finer than helping other people. We know BRK does it every day (oh, sure, it pays the rent, but he could make much better money without the uniform, and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably a Business Major in Community College); this time he needs some help to help. Come on, people! You must have some pocket change somewhere!
