Merry Christmas!

businesscardThe shirt-store is closed, thank you to everybody who placed an order. We have send the final totals to our manufacturer and he should start production as soon as he gets back to work on Monday. Once he creates them, he’ll ship them all to us, then we’ll make the individual packages and ship them out to our customers. We do not keep these in-stock; they’re built on-demand.

We got both things we wanted for Christmas: a Nikon L18 — simple, easy, great pics — and the other thing.

What’s the other thing? It involves our blog, Warcraft, and a business partner. We can’t say more, don’t bother asking. But we got it and we think you’re gonna love it, too. Big news coming, we hope in mid to late-January.

But we do need one thing: a new business card. If you’re interested in flexing your digital-muscles, you can help.

We want a hunter/Warcraft-oriented business card. Full-color, standard size. Doesn’t have to be ostentatious or over-the-top. Classy, just like we roll.

The name on the card?

Dr. B.R. Kitty, DpS PhD

Edit: Our first response! We’re not sure we can get away with the Blizzard map on the back — copyright infringement FTW — but still a d@mn nice card.

    Merry Christmas all!

    Classy.
You mean decked out like a mechanohog with flashing lights those pesudo-holographic effects where if you tilt the card one way you see an image and tilt it another see and another image? Oh and so loud its colors can be seen from orbit with a mini sound card in it that plays Hobbes growl when you hold your thumb over a spot with a photocopy of your dwarfs grill on the front?

Oh and a spirit beast print on the back as well right, or would that be to much?

    Happy Winter’s Veil!

I have some VERY nice apps for making business cards, so i believe i can deliver. On an editing note: i believe it’s correctly stated “PhD of DPS”, or does that matter to ya?

As far as the WoW map on the card goes, it would fall under a Fair Use defense, for both in the general sense, as well as for “parody” use. The copyright infringement is on a business card, the map is incomplete and imprecise – making it of little or no practical value (unlike say, a detailed large scale map) – which means it would be de minimis non curat lex – trivial use – and the law does not care about trivial use. By also making it smaller than normal, and incomplete in nature – you are also protected by the transformative clause, meaning that you have changed the size, medium, and scope of the copywritten object in question enough to make it something “new” and original that cannot be protected by copyright The fact that it is also being used in a comedic way (to identify a fictional character/name from a digital game, as well as a fictional company (BRK Worldwide Amalgamated)) would further protect the infringement as a parody, which dictates that copyrighted material can be used for comedic purposes without infringment.

I think you’re pretty well covered if you want to use the map one, BRK.

And I thought I was arrogant.

All hunters should be arrogant. Rude? No. Unwavering in the belief that our DPS is superior to the lesser classes? Absolutely.

    Arrogance with a smile. :)

  27. Onouris on December 26th, 2008 6:17 pm

@Manito – well that makes my map use feel better lol.

You got the same camera that my wife and I did. It takes great pictures, no?

:D Now all we need is a memory card!! D’oh!!

Nice Camera and loot there BRK. I am still in the hunt for a Canon 40D or better drop, but I’ll wait until I see it at the right price. I’m really hoping to get something that shoots at least 5 fps, but I think a wide selection of both Nikon and Canon cameras shoot some really nice images now.

Good luck on the new business cards!
