Spidys
“Dear BRK … Icecrown, in front of Argent Vangaurd there are spideys. Normally I hate spideys, but these ones drop Nerubian Chitins, Borean Leather, Arctic Fur and hardcore amounts of Frostweave cloth. I’ve also had four Titanium Lockboxes drop here, never seen those anywhere else.
1) Many spideys
2) People quest there, so many spideys are already dead
3) Vendors and Dalaran super-close.
4) When you shoot the webs to free the spideys, sometimes you free an Argent fellow who thanks you buy giving you a BoM and healing you.
“Best farming spot ever. Audacious”
The market for Frostweave has gone down by 50%. A 20-stack that was once selling for forty gold is now going for less than twenty. We don’t recommend you choose farming cloth for profit right now, as the leather-market is still off the charts, and you’ll get a greater return on your time by selling a 20-stack of Heavy Borean Leather for upwards of 200 gold.
The epic tanking cloak that leatherworkers can make require forty Nerubian Chitins, so if you’re not running AN and AK frequently, the spiders (spidys) that Audacious identifies are a source of these mats. *We* prefer to make the epic DPS-cloak, as there are 3-10x as many DPS-people as there are tanks, so there’s a greater market for them.
One of the things *we* consider in choosing a preferred leather-farming spot is the number of other people in the area. If there are too many, they’ll kill everything and not loot the corpses. (Not looting your corpses is travesty and earns many demerits as well as horrible phat-loot-karma.) So we prefer to farm in areas where people aren’t around to drive us crazy.
So is our personal Skinners’ Paradise in Ice Crown? Nope. Keep guessing, foshizzle.

What about the area just north of K-3 or whatever it is in SP. Lots of Dragons and Rhinos?
There is also a cave way up in the NE where you can farm Air..
How about give us a clue on what animals are there…
Should I take all the bolded letters and unscramble them?
Uh, not a skinner anymore, but you solo Azjol-Nerub on reg? That’s where everyone I know goes to get their, but they usally take a group.
I loved this spot myself, before it phased out of existance. If you have a skinning alt, skip the quests here or Nerubian Chitin become far harder to farm.
Insert clever BRK slam here?
I think I found it.. going to test and read more later. But are they in packs of two to four and respawn fast? i go through leather so fast that I am buying 50-100 stacks of leather a week from 10-20g. (I just hate driving the prices up) IF I can farm faster, I will.
On my server, I’m making a lot more gold by turning the leather into Mammoth Mining Bags as opposed to just selling it raw. 8 Borean Leathers can sell for about 45G, but the bag will go for 95G.
Eheheh.. Thanks BRK! =D
What is with people not looting corpses? I just don’t understand that.
BRK’s skinning paradise is in Storm Pe-
Wait, why am I going to ruin it? Find it for yourself!
Here’s a hint: BRK <3 WoWHead!
Oh TJ, you sneaky sneaky post publisher.
Oh BRK! What is this? Another raspberry latte induced delusion of niceness?
Stop taunting us with your Skinner’s Paradise…you’ll never squeal (oh, I can hear you oinking in protest now!) its whereabouts.
To paraphrase Kevin Costner “If you reveal it, they will come.”
I’ll bet it’s here: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=30164#comments
I’m about to drop 450 skinning for a non-gathering skill though- unlike our favorite hunter blogger, I haven’t been able to sell stacks of heavy leather for more than 140G in weeks, and have stopped trying to buy out the gold/mats farmers to increase the price.

farm right at the cave entrance. Respawn in packs of 2, and by the time i’m done killing one group they have respawned.
Its a great spot, have fun!
Chilled meat farming + skinning (+ mob grinding if you’re low level) is a great combination to me. Especially if said mobs respawn faster than you can single-target kill them at 71 while standing in one place
Foshizzle?…. “foshizzle my grizzle” perhaps? Hmmmmmmm…. I will know your mighty secret, if it is thie last think I do! You’ve not seen the last of me oh guardian of skinner’s paradise…. but where in grizzly hills might you be hiding…. ((Is probably way off, but I had to take a guess))
LOL i know where skinners paradise is! don’t tell BRK!
*sigh* it’s almost as if he’s taunting people for a slam.
Why would someone do that?
Not sure if this is BRKs “Skinners Paradise”, but there is a place north of K-3 and north of the big blue chicks =P. Its a cave with wolves and worms. They respawn really fast and are in tight groups. I can easily farm 100 heavy borean leather, usually get a few arctic fur, a ton of greens to get DE’ed, and the worm scales. If I vendor the random stuff from the mobs when im done I get about 50g. Only problem is there are quite a few ppl that know about this cave so a stack of heavy borean leather only goes for 80g on my server and arctic fur was down to 20g the other day. Happy skinning guys and gals.

easy, the herds of mammoths … you can get 2 types of meat and leather by the bucketload. you can always do a couple groups or so right after your Son’s of H rep quests.
Yeah,
When I am doing my SoH daillies I usually take down the two herds of mammoths on either side of the cave. I do it just for the mammoth meat. I, unfortunately, dont skin. So as soon as I’m done some skinner swoops out of the sky to pick up my kills. I now have all but one enchanting recipe, but have yet to make anything off of it. I mine, but all that goes to my JCer. Sigh…I really hate to leave all those skins behind, and to see those other LW hunters with those special AP kits…drool. I get 32AP on each ring…just doesnt compare.
Perhaps the Primordial Hatchlings in Sholazar, which have mysteriously inflated drop rates on both Borean Leather and Icy Dragonscales?
I dunno. I’m not a skinner.
That Image is a camel spider if no body knew sorry just like to add… :p

TJ’s back!!
*scamper’s off to her blog*
/sigh
It’s Sholazar Basin, people! There, I’ve said it!
I like the spot in SB with the mammoths.
Probably not BRKs paradise but its mine.
For one its lots of free easy mammoth meals for cheap heroic buff food, as they sometimes drop two peices at a time. Also decent leather of course. Not alot of them around but I rarely see anyone farming them.
Walk away with three stacks of buff food and tons of leather in a few mins easy.
I do! Every single Hunter buff-food that I use takes Mammoth meat.
About the pic with the post… camel spiders are really f-ing scary.
Whoops I was thinking he was talking about farming chitleans and not leather in general. I need to l2read. My guess is in storm peaks, but not the Sons of Hodir place, if you go NE of Dun Niffelem, there is a spot where their are mammoths and rhinos, while not hug packs, it’s been empty everytime I’ve been there as I don’t believe any quests bring you to that spot. It’s nested in between the mountains and there is a little broken down castle/building deal. That’s my guess at least. Keep up the great work BRK!
Am I the only one who’d rather go farm Buzzard meat in Hellfire for pet food instead of using Northern spices for food that gives the same buff?
Unlooted, skinneable corpses makes me a sad, sad skinner. Just think about all that leather/scales/arctic fur potentially going to waste
Yep, that be a camel spider. Don’t believe the myths about them. They aren’t venomous, although those bites hurt like hell from what I here, and they are not true spiders either.
@ Joel-
Shhh, that’s my spot! >.>
Also it’s kinda scary that you have the same name as my brother.
The spot mentioned here is awesome, unfortunately once you do the entire quest chain from there the spideys go away (if it’s the spot I’m thinking of). I was going to do massive leather-farming there, but my hunter was about 5 bubs from 80 so I ran thru the quests. Boy was I disappointed afterwards.
Not to give anything away but really TJ, hiding the secret paradise in the bold letters? So obvious. Get a pen and paper people, then you can finally know where it is.
As many people have said its the cave in storm peaks where worgs spawn in packs of two and worms also spawn there. To full epic hunters could farm this cave without ever stepping on each others toes, classes which dont have a gorrila to make everything easy for them, jesus could prob get 5 farming in there. If looking for the cave look up borean leather on wowhead, seem to remember some people suggesting the farming spot with details. Hardly a secret BRK
on my server i sell mining bags as well the heavy borean leather stacks sell for 100 gold and i sell bags for 175 gold apeice
I bet its sholazar because of all the mobs that are there and many of them are skinnable, and the drakes of northern sholazar have dragonscales.
Must be nice to be on a server with a leather market. Can’t even give leather away on Echo Isles. I’ve only sold 8 pieces of heavy borean in the last 2 weeks. Completely stopped skinning on my hunter and just mine on my DK for gold and even that is disappearing, the price of titansteel has dropped by 50% in the past two weeks
The most epic phat loot drop from skinning though? It has to be Loque. I am sorry I know this, but he drops blue Gear off skinning in addition to furs and multiple borean leather. No, I did not kill him. I just saw a human DK kill him before i could do anything about it. Least the lil baggard looted him so i could commit the heinous crime of skining his corpse….it’s a win/lose situation
My vote is cast for the cavedweller worgs, simply for the fact that they respawn so quickly, that even when you’re sharing the spot with two or three others, you can all be happy knowing you’ve got an infinite supply of leather spawning before you can kill and skin everything you just killed in an aoe pull.
It’s easy for someone to get a couple groups + worms just outside the cave, a hunter can tag a couple inside, there’s a few easily tagged in the tunnel, and each hunter doesn’t really have to move out of those spots, on account of the spawn timers, which is in the realm of 20-30 seconds. Share and share alike, it’s the only place where I’ve never had to “wait” to locate mobs when there’s competition. That alone is enough for me.
Yeah, i’ll have to agree with Bernie. I’m on Echo Isles and last night the price of a stack of Borean Leather was 9.75g…I want to cry. I’m a Skinner/Miner, so that’s pretty much how I make a living in WoW…and yeah, the price of Titansteel bars has gone down to about 200g a pop.
As for the Skinner’s Paradise…who knows where it is. BRK will probably not let us know, and i’d be willing to be that someone has already mentioned it in a reply here.
bah! *fail*
Well there goes MY skinners paradise… I swear… BRK tries to sound so smart yet acts so freaking dumb. Way to ruin my favorite spot with yer big mouth…
Great… now its going to be overrun with huntards who were too dumb to figure this nice spot out for themselves.
@anon Great attitude there. Boo hoo, the 3 other hunters on your realm that are skinners AND haven’t phased through Chitin Paradise AND also read BRK (not every hunter reads it, or has even heard of it unfortunately) will encroach on your ‘territory’. It’s not like the mobs there respawn at ridiculously fast rates… oh wait…
I knew it was a good spot to farm while questing there, but didn’t know it would phase out of existence. I was too focused on getting up to friendly with AC (and I’d skipped ZD, so I wasn’t quite there yet). The area northwest, with Forgotten Depths bug kings & priests, is also pretty good for Chitin drops. Not quite as common (25% rate or so from what I’ve read) but nice enough. Unfortunately there aren’t all that many bugs, and from what I read they become unskinnable after a certain stage of the quests there. Dragon and worm scales are EASILY farmed in several places; it’s a shame good drop rates for Chitin seem so dependent on phased and instanced areas.
Probably not a paradise, but more like a weekend get away. Bloodmoon Isle in Grizzly Hills has a ton of worgen walking around…skinnable humanoids…creepy…
I know where it is. I’m not telling, either.
The spiders just northwest of the Argent Vanguard in Icecrown are better by far than that /other/ place people keep trying to hint around, but like every other skinner I know, I went there to get nerubian chitin and after thirty minutes of slaughtering the place did the quests they had there. I suspect the Argents there are now mocking me, not cheering me.
GMs react oddly when you ask them if there’s any way you can retroactively fail an entire chain so you can never, ever do it again.
Great pic of a camel spider…getting bit by one gives you nightmares foreverer!…Just look at the pincers/teeth
Its NOT the BRK Paradise but try the Scions of Quetz’Lun in ZD … they average 2 Borean Leather per kill and are also ideal for fast pet leveling.
I’m pretty sure I know the BRK site and it is, indeed, Paradise
For those that are farming the Nerubian Chitins in South East end of Ice Crown and you are a hunter. Turn on your tracking to tracking undead.
The spiders and NPC’s that are cocooned / webbed is very easy to tell apart. if you see a red dot in your mini map where the webbed NPC is then it’s a spider. Send pet in to set it up and then kill it.
When your BoM buff ends or need a quick/cheap heal kill one of the webbed mobs that are NPC’s. (not showing up on you mini map when tracking undead)
I have found that only the undead spiders are skinable (3 kinds of spiders there, 2 undead).
That the webbed spiders have a bit better drop rate of the Chitins. The second best drop rate are the spiders that run down from the hills towards the camp.
anybody else notice that one spider always runs face down (under ground plane) he has a great drop rate around 75%
Happy hunting/farming
DR
I timed myself for approx 30 mins in the cave alone today. here’s the list of spoils…
- 3 green items for DE or vendor
- 4 arctic fur (luck, I realize, but getting at least two each hour is not bad at all)
- 215 borean leather (35 heavy borean)
- 81 worg haunch
- 27 worm meat
- 3 jormungar scales
- vendor trash totaling ~57G
I’ve been to this nerubian chitin place, it pales in comparison to a gorilla and this cave. all mobs are skinnable, whereas the nerubian area is not, they are also on slower spawn times, and are more spread out. Simply put, I can’t imagine how anything else is more efficient for leather or gold farming (depending on whether or not you’re using the mats or selling them) than any other spot, period.
It’s got to be this place, has to be.
O’For sure!
But I know another place just as nuts.
~Mammoths
1 hour
This in not in the Tundra by a fly only area. (Has anyone else found this haven?)
512 Mammoths killed
501 Borean leather(not scrap)
11 Fur OMG!
craps of grey items
11 Greens
And 294 MEAT.
Sounds like tHe area where I farm mammOth meat for mega mammoth meal. SaDly, I don’t skin, but usually someone will fly past and end up swoopIng in and making a killing on all the leatheR laying around.
Bah. On our server the leather market is dead, dead, dead. Herbs and Ore seem to be where the money is made :/
