Well done sir. For the Alliance, rabble rabble rabble.

  3. Different Spencer on January 6th, 2009 10:25 pm

    *hissssssssssssssss*

Did they take out ANY of the alliance leaders? If not, well, I’m never gonna roll a hordie there. Or on their battlegroup.

  4. texasaswang on January 6th, 2009 10:43 pm

The problem on my server, being that we are out numbered 3-1 ally vs horde. If 10% of the people online decide to rally and defend, they out number our raid.

/shrug Its possible to kill the Ally leaders, if you do it at 3 am.

And BRK, congrats on being in the Majority :P Try rolling horde :P

  5. Klinderas on January 6th, 2009 11:16 pm

You kill our leaders, but we can’t kill yours?
    YOU RACIST BASTARD!

In any case, that saddens me. Keep up the hordie slayings, you intolerant snoots. I promise you this: THERE. WILL. BE. NO. QUARTER!

  6. Egamamai on January 6th, 2009 11:20 pm

@Different Spencer: That’s a heck of an extrapolation. How can you judge the PvP capability of a whole battlegroup from a single failed world-leader raid (especially since there are a lot of PvE aspects to world–leader raids, e.g. tanking, healing assignments, proper grouping, class balance, etc.)?

You’re certainly welcome to look up the win/loss ratio of Drenden Horde on warcraftrealms.com or wherever they’re keeping those stats these days. I’d quote them myself, but such sites are currently blocked from the computer via which I’m posting this message.

That having been said, I’d guess this was a trade-channel PuG that stupidly attacked IF as their first target during a peak time.

Personally, I wish all the folks who’ve been looking forward to their dopey-looking bear mounts, and don’t have them yet, either push to get it over and done with, or just abandon the idea. The whole world-leader raid fad is getting rather tiresome IMO, alarms going off every time I’m in one of the old-world capitals…

It’s kind of funny how the horde rarely seem to stop alliance from having there fun – but when the horde raids someplace like Ironforge, generally the Alliance gets bent out of shape. However, I am happy to see the Black War Bear achievement rewards; after all it has done great things to encourage world pvp.

    HAH! Good job BRK =)

I personally got my Black War Bear a few weeks after I hit 80. We, a trade-channel PuG, had the audacity to think we could kill Thrall first @ 3 PM on a Saturday. Complete success. After that it was all downhill. Peak time city raids FTW =D

And yes, we did have one hell of a raid leader =)

  9. Gekko on January 7th, 2009 12:46 am

I did it with a PUG just a few weeks ago….started at UC…..then tried Org….haha…wiped……went after Cow leader…..BE leader……back to Thrall…and FTW…i have a bear that looks just like the one i bought…except with “black” armor……was very fun tho…..great leader Dragontear on Eitrigg Ally side!!! :) did it at 74 :) woot!!!

You’re talking to someone who gives a damn about PVP, and you want them to use logic?

    AHAHAHAHAHAHA

  11. Garouk, Tauren Hunter of Gilneas on January 7th, 2009 2:10 am

Being Horde myself, I’ve attended two raids into IronForge, having our ass handed to us each same. Safe to say, I won’t try for that unless we go after Tyrande and the Old Spacegoat first, because really…who goes to Darnassus and Exodar?

  12. Ragath on January 7th, 2009 3:14 am

Too bad there isn’t an achievement for killing Staghelm. Alliance would probably help you with that one! :P

  13. Anansi on January 7th, 2009 7:36 am

Was that a 10 man raid on IF? There’s hardly any corpses there.. Not much of an attack, or an epic defense then, was it? :p

  14. Kemonojin on January 7th, 2009 8:11 am

We beat down the midget in Ironforge the first time, then everybody got lost trying to get to Stormwind, and we broke up. Half the people went way out of the way to Vengeance Landing for some reason, the other half went to Stormwind directly, and a bunch of us hadn’t ever played Alliance so we didn’t know where the stupid cities were…

Too many leaders. But we ate the dwarf with no problem at all…

  15. Grainger on January 7th, 2009 8:41 am

The Horde side on my server is full of spies it seems. I’ve joined an ally city raid twice and both times was it not only a complete failure, but they had about twice as many folks as we had standing at the entrance waiting for us.

Meanwhile, I’ve seen Thrall taken down a couple times with no resistance and the Silvermoon leader taken down when I was on my bank-alt and there were maybe three total Horde in the whole city.

  16. Vindalla on January 7th, 2009 8:58 am

I just got my black war bear over the weekend (on US-Kalecgos)… starting with Thrall. We made it through Org, UC and SM without a problem, but the raid leader wanted to wait for TB until last… big mistake… started out by half of us getting blown off the elevator… not to mention the 40 horde 80s waiting for us. We couldn’t get the Wrath of the Alliance achievement due to SM being completely empty… no hordies… NONE! :-(

Tried again the next day with a different raid and stormed through the cities no problem (Org -> TB -> UC -> SM).

  17. Neomacro on January 7th, 2009 10:11 am

I have done 3 alli city raids on my server since I Dc’ed midway out of 1 and missed 1 boss on 2nd one. It so easy on my server, that people dont even form a pvp team or anything to counter alli defenses. On my 3rd raid we got wiped due to this when like 15 allies showed up and managed to knock out our tank and healers. It was a semi-guild pug from a server guild and they decided it was totally ok to wait right outside Varion’s room for 15 mins till 2 of their guildmates ran up and caught up with us. This delayed our attack on the dwarf king and the allies managed to form a raid to counter us. We rezzed together, killed the allies and then the boss and ported out.

  18. Gevurah on January 7th, 2009 10:38 am

Got my bear weeks ago, and have been helping slaughter the Alliance leaders every week since. Congratulations on holding off the Horde on your server, though. Make ‘em work for it!

(There’s no better rationale for Thrall being the leader of the Horde than the fact that he can cram 50 armored war bears in a mailbox.)

  19. Dare The Black on January 7th, 2009 12:02 pm

Heya BRK, just letting you know cause you got me up to 70 on my first toon, a BM hunter, but you might wanna check out Encrypted Text this week. Looks like Chris wants to throw down :-)

  20. admon on January 7th, 2009 12:34 pm

hmmm, dont judge brk’s battle group based off of that pug attempt. the alliance may have greater numbers, but that means we also have a greater number of “noobs” too, so the bgs usually go to the horde. dont judge a server/battle group based on a pug that doesnt know how to pvp/pve at the same time and probably wasnt geared enough.

  21. Fergie on January 7th, 2009 12:47 pm

I was lucky enought to clear all the ally leaders in one night, not particularly late, half friends half PuG.

IF had a hell of a defence though, but people were stupid enough to all stand in doorways and get AoEd to dust. On Steamwheadle we are greatly out numbered and we didn’t run in the early hours of the morning. Although I agree with the ‘not having an ally, therefore don’t have clue where to go’.

It is possible, don’t give up hope :)

  22. Rikaku on January 7th, 2009 12:54 pm

    From my experience, if you roll a PvP server, the Horde outnumbers the Alliance generally. You pvp on a PvE server, the Alliance will outnumber the Horde. That’s why we Alliance can only win AV and Wintergrasp. <_<;

In any case, I want a Black war bear XD

  23. Spencer on January 7th, 2009 1:26 pm

My first server I played horde and alliance kicked our butts constantly. then I made alliance on a different server and horde kicked our butts constantly. As alliance my wife and I just just killed all the horde leaders on our server about a week ago, it was fun, and our raid almost gave up on Undercity. Horde thoroughly trounced us. We decided to wait as ghosts for maybe half an hour and come back and we got their leader down finally.

  24. Layl on January 7th, 2009 2:49 pm

Nothing beats the night I got my bear .. we finished the raid and all went back to Org for a screenshot … just as the Ally raid came up the road to Org to make a try at Thrall.

I am still not sure who was more surprised.

  25. Leni on January 7th, 2009 3:55 pm

Good going BRK on your server. On my server my guild has been running For the Alliance achievement on Sunday’s n we woop up on those ugly Horde. Almost every one in my guild, Brotherhood of Ronin, has there war bear now. YAY! Oh my server is Dalvengyr

  26. Marathonian on January 7th, 2009 4:26 pm

On my realm,Wintergrasp is ours 90%of the time.If AV has equal numbers,we Horde win.All the other BGs are 75-85% won by we Horde.

Also Thrall spends more time dead than alive these days.Horde reaction to you attacking our leader?”So what he’ll rez, just be patient.”Of course Alliance has his respawn figured out,so they attack as soon as he is back. The only ones who complain on our side are the Alliance rerolls who wanted to win BGs,and they do whine long and loud.

Yet when we Horde organize a raid on Alliance, they act all butthurt and start screaming for revenge!Wait,we are outnumbered 3:1 on our realm. You kill our leaders on a daily basis. And the one time we actually reciprocate,we’re the bad guys?Wow.I always knew Alliance was full of children and immature people but damn!

Frankly I think this is one of Blizzards stupidest “achievements”.A bunch of 80s stroll into a city, off everything in their path, and take out a leader?Huge “achievement” there kids!Might as well have made griefing Crossroads an “achievement” as well.

    I don’t want a retarded bear mount.If I wanted a bear,I’d buy one.Now if I’d gotten a kick-@ss epic flying mount,I’d be just a little tempted.But not for a bear

  27. Different Spencer on January 7th, 2009 5:18 pm

    @ riglon

I don’t really care that much, I’m just a hordie, and proud of it. I don’t like seeing a bunch of dead taurens being danced on by those shinstabbing gnome rogues.

Really, my first comment was just a joke. I have no idea what the horde/alliance ratio on drenden is, and image on a carebear server anyway. And yet we still get raided…

  28. Klinderas on January 7th, 2009 5:52 pm

Meh, I’ll have a bike one day. A BIKE. AND A COPTER!

    ROFLMAHCOPTAH!

No, in all seriousness, that bear is totally awesome.

  29. Rotseh on January 7th, 2009 7:02 pm

WTB more Alliance players in The Exodar to finally complete this achievement. *sigh*

  30. Rotseh on January 7th, 2009 7:03 pm

That is, the Wrath of the Horde achievment. Stupid link filter…

  31. Macnerd on January 7th, 2009 7:19 pm

    @Julie Whitefeather

That’s strange you say that, because it’s the exact opposite on my server.

    -Macnerd (Dunemaul US)

  32. Artemes on January 7th, 2009 8:29 pm

    Hmm.
    Quite different on my server.
Raid Allie cities all the time, rarely see successful raids on Org, TB, UC, etc.
I usually rush to defend, it’s way more interesting than farming or leveling.

    Also.
We win AV almost every time. Of all the times I’ve played (a lot…;-;) Alliance has won three times. And it was three times in a row because we were way outnumbered and no one was online.

    Anyway….yeah. :)
    For the Horde! :D

  33. Maevet on January 7th, 2009 10:15 pm

    Right on!

I hate WoW’s pvp, but if people come rolling after my king.. damn skippy I’m shooting til they give up.

  34. Skywatcher on January 8th, 2009 8:01 am

I’ve noticed lately that a lot more PuGs try to go after the racial leaders. I guess it’s the incentive to get the black warbear. Personally, my warrior was still 77 when he got his. I’ll start goin in on the hunter soon, though, now that he’s leveled a bit.

Still, defeating the impromptu attacks is a good bit easier than preventing the organized ones. I was fortunate enough to be part of the first kill of Bronzebeard on my main’s server, and on my hunter even:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdwcMgfo2a8

Dang, you can still see that awful Miami Vice-esque axe he had at the time and catch some glimpses of his lynx in there.

I’ll confess that I do find it a lot more fun to successfully defend a leader than to take one down.

  35. Nyctreinar on January 8th, 2009 7:47 pm

@Klinderas: No quarter? What about a dime? I’ll take a dime. Cheapskate!
