In other bizarre-news, our son is making Oreo and turkey breast mini-sandwiches. This day needs to end, pronto.

I’d hate to see the after affect of such a sandwich.

Well if nothing else….. I guess it shows you what a big impact you’ve had on people BRK.. gameplay, shots, rotations, spec.. well you’ve touched on a bunch of things. even the relationship we have with our beloved pixels that are our pet. Even people in other countries feel the sting of seeing you abandon the BM..

  6. Hathorn on January 26th, 2009 6:38 pm

BRK, I speak Spanish, do you want me to translate this and email it to you?

  7. RabidCoqui on January 26th, 2009 6:41 pm

It basically says that he thinks you jumped to the conclusion the BM got nerfed. He still raids as BM and still finds himself doing well in DPS. There’s more but that’s the gist of it.

I wish I had a movie with actors that well known…

I think “BRK” should replace “murloc” as the Trade Chat movie meme.

    “Raiders of the Lost BRK”
“Dr. BRK, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Pet”
    “BRKalypse Now”
“Saving Private BRK” (Saving Airman Howell?)
“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless BRK”
    “Mr. BRK Goes to Washington”

    Well, BRK…

I think the substantial truths of this post can be more clearly discerned by using a slightly more outdated (or at least more entertaining) translation website. After doing so, I’m afraid I do have to agree with Mr. “Mirada de Cheshire” in his sentiment that:

“That phrase this out of place ones is watched after where it is watched, and as you know well, your opinion is accepted without I only hide by much people because “BRK says…”, reason of but being cautious with some declarations.”

    So true, so true… : P

BRK…….. I HAZ SPIRIT BEAST!!! YAY!!!!
caught it a few moment s ago, just as i was about to log off.
today has been a good day. I get my timed run dragon from CoS for my ingame Birthday prezzie, then mere hours later i get the thing i have been hunting for nearly three weeks, staying up till stupid o’clock just to get him most nights. My guild can no longer say that i am half a BM hunter any more :) :)

  19. Loronar on January 27th, 2009 12:24 am

Arwin is the author of that blog. I’ve spoken with him several times on previous occasions before. I’d say he’s somewhat of a colleague of yours. He used to write for the Spanish-language WoW community site, <a href=”http://www.todowow.com/”TodoWoW.

I had adapted his instructions on deciphering WoW Web Stats as it pertains to hunters back in July.

  20. levesk on January 27th, 2009 5:24 am

Dear BRK, here’s a translation I did for you and your readers. Hand made translation, no web tools, I hope it makes sense. Enjoy

    Levesk

    POST TRANSLATION

I did not want to write this post.
Writing these words really hurts me.
This will be no more that a constructive criticism based on the deepest respect I have for BRK.
Almost all the world knows Daniel Howell, who is the orchestra director of BigRedKitty, WowInsider writer, A++ blogger and precursor of the Shakespeare’s language known WoWsphere.
As you can imagine, with such a CV his blog gets thousands of visitors everyday, and his opinion is valuable to many people; this is something that implies a responsability.
The responsability I’m talking about can be found reading the following post, SV Works (Expletve Deleted).

    – BRK QUOTE about SV being actually better than BM -

This is simply being cheap, out of context and in line with all the QQers in the Forums, complaining about the Hunter nerf in general, and BM in particular.

I know I promised I would not get on this topic again (link), but as a matter of fact I believe that we are both acting as blind sages, but BRK you can’t say that BM hunter nerf is real only relying on a combat log and comparing to another player that apparently you don’t even know.

This sentence (the quoted one) is inappropriate and, as you very well know, your opinion is blindly accepdet by many people only because “BRK says…” – and that’s another reason to be cautious with those statements.

My experience in these days is very VERY far from yours, in fact I still am BM (after tweaking a few talents) and my performance in raids is still good enough in numbers, improving towards top dps (tomorrow I’ll be talking about this with WWS reports in my hands) either in Party or in Raid.

Anyway I have to confess that if I have to choose, when I want to see high numbers I go for Drotara, when I want to read a good blogger I read yours.

Without hate, and reminding you your responsability of having thousands of readers that many times will just mindlessly do whatever you tell them, I salute you. —

  21. levesk on January 27th, 2009 5:31 am

    Personal opinion now.

I don’t think all readers blindly follow BRK (if they do they’re WRONG). I don’t. I DO read the blog and value his opinions.
The one I value more is BRK’s mantra “go out and test yourself”. So I disagree with the spanish reader-poster.
Last night I finished 6th in a long Naxx-25 run, and most of my guild outgears me, so I’m quite happy atm.
Nontheless I’ll go out and test SV tonight, because my damagemeter shows a huge DPS decrease post patch. Test. I might like it, or maybe not. Who knows?
I’d hate to stable my long-desired Spirit Beast, but Raiding is Raiding, and I want to provide DPS.
I’ll respec BM for fun, and hope for 3.1 and dual specs…

  22. Bo on January 27th, 2009 6:40 am

I read the blog and I don’t even play a Hunter, I have one sure but she has a Snake for a pet. My main is a Priest and my alt I am levelling is a Shaman. I come here to read the well written articles and maybe in the future will level that Hunter (46).

  23. Jespersen on January 27th, 2009 7:00 am

When we’re heading for a raid, we of course want to present the best DPS we can get. And BM was for a long time the cookie-cutter raiding build, and now it seems that SV is the new cookie-cutter.

I was myself BM and loved it, but since the latest patch I’ve noticed that I did less damage than earlier, so I did some personal tests. Even if I’ve always been BM, I was doing more damage with SV which I almost had no experience with, except from reading.

Seems SV is the new cookie-cutter spec :O

/cast Camouflage, so the angry mob won’t get me

(Yes, hunters almost got vanish in 3.0.8 – http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=51753)

  24. Hunnie on January 27th, 2009 9:27 am

BRK, I think you have stumbled upon your next Podcast Guest!! But we might not have any idea what was said……

    :)

  25. Seraje on January 27th, 2009 11:30 am

Meh, I switched Survival because the numbers were telling me to. The day of the patch I switched and beat BM hunters significantly that had otherwise been eating my face in dps(better gear ftw).

After being survival since then I can almost tell you without a doubt that i will not be BM again unless the duel specs come out, and even then I’m probably going Marks. Survival is just way too much fun, yes I don’t get to play with my Devilsaur anymore (/sadface), but I think the mechanics of survival are far more entertaining than BM.

I am a raiding hunter, I have to do what’s best for the raid. Mana users appreciate my built in Mana battery, and my guildies appreciate my high dps. Now if I could only get luckier with the drops /cry.

A BRK movie titles game! Awesome!
    Um…let’s see…Oh! I got one!
    “The Ghost and Mrs. BRK”
    No? What about…
    “Scarecrow and Mrs. BRK”
    “The King and Mrs. BRK”?
    Ooh! Ooh! I got it!
    “Mrs. BRK and the Beast!”

Hi, I’m Consemilia (Arwin) from La Mirada de Cheshire.

First of all, sorry about my english wrting (I can read better than write xD)

Second thing, I didn’t expect this kind of response, really flattered of having a dedicated post of yours, ironical one, but mine was too.

Third thing, levek’s translation of the post is perfect ^^

Four thing, being a reader of your blog for almost the time, and you’re guilty of make me start blogging, firstly about druids and after about the class I love, hunters.

Fifth one, you have your opinion and I have mine, sometimes we are completely agree and sometimes not, the nerf on BM is true, but the NERF on BM is not, and we both have blogs to express our impressions.

Last thing xD, I promise. It seems that you’re losing your great sense of humour, I hope not :)

    /hug

Hehe, i still bring my monkey to raids…

    Cuz its fun!!!
