Ya that is a great add on i use it for many things. And one thing BRK didnt show was how you can also make it so it shows the icon of the spell if you want ^^
I’ll use it for that damned ASPECT OF THE VIPER that I forget active most of the fights (at least when I start them). I’ll make sure the aura is ALWAYS on, even in Dalaran… if Viper is active. Damned mana, MM spec sucks too much of it!

Is there a way to config an Aura for Range to Target? Like…over 30 yards for Sniper? Can’t find a range. May not be one…
Nice addon, have to try it with my other toons, you link is referencing a old version of the addon though, much newer version here http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8579-PowerAurasClassic.html#info on wowinterface. the one on curse is more than 3 months oldl.

I just found out where to put the strings. There’s a button called “Import” inside the game ui for powerauras. Just Ctrl+C
I don’t think using Power Auraz is the best solution for Viper/mana. Personally I prefer an addon called “Auto Aspect” which you can configure your thresholds (I have 30%/80%)…when you’re 80% mana, and you’re in viper, it’ll yell at you until you switch it off….GREAT addon for managing viper in raids. (I use 30% because when I was BM, that’s how much mana I could use up w/o mana regen while in BW and I wanted to make sure I always had enough mana to get through a BW).
One other thing you can do with Power Auraz and configure it so the aura icon things only appear when you’re in a raid, or in combat, or out of combat…basically it’s fully customizable for your preferences and needs.

What a GREAT video. I find that SV hunter is a bit more complicated with all those cooldowns and things to keep track of. PowerAura’s certainly looks to make it easier. I stopped playing my hunter after 3 years with the recent 3.08 change and I think you’ve made it fun again.

I picked up PowA after someone suggested it in comments last week, and I LOVE it. So far, I’m only using it to indicate L&L procs, but I’m definitely going to “copy” your Serpent Sting and Hunter’s Mark auras. Very useful during long boss fights, and not something I’d have thought of on my own.
For remembering to turn off AotV, I use ViperNotify. Instead of cluttering up your visual space, it just chimes when you reach a certain mana threshold (mine’s set to 95%). As far as I know, it only reminds you when you need to turn Viper OFF, not when you need to turn it ON, but I may have just missed a setting. I can definitely see doing a PowA for low mana, though.

I’ve found a great use for this addon with Mirror of Truth. I like to use Rapid Fire when it proc’s in order to get as much bang out of of the extra 1k AP as possible, but I would always be a second late as it gets lost amongst my other gazillion raid buffs. So, I set my Power Auras to play the hook from “Light My Fire” by The Doors when ever I get Reflection of Torment
I use a sound addon for the LnL proc and I use DHUD to manage my mana viper rotations, this seems like alot of visual candy. I will give it a try though and see what else it has to offer
I’ve had powerauras for about or month or so and didn’t really know how to make it do all of this..so thanks for that.

Is there something that will tell me whether or not Mend Pet is up, without having to mouse over my pet to see if it is or not, that would make my life so much happier

Seeing you have a Silithid pet in this movie. And you just specced Survival. I was just wondering – is it possible to specc BM, but one talent in Beast Mastery, tame an Exotic pet and then specc back to Surv?
Can you still use your exotic pet in another specc?

@ Vaquez, as BRK says that is a wasp, and no you cannot even whistle and exotic pet up, or get it from the stable (or put it in) if you respec, so be sure to stable an exotic you want to keep in stable before speccing away from BM.

Thanks for the excellent video BRK, this is definately an addon I’ll be using from now on.
A quick note to those of you who use an audio prompt for switching off AotV; I like the idea of a constant visual prompt as in the noise of a raid with everyone’s spells and shots making a lot of noise (not to mention my guild leader sobbing on Vent as he dies – AGAIN) it’s easy to miss the chime. If that should happen the visual prompt is still there to remind you.

Wow, I like how that addon looks. As long as it doesn’t cause extra lag with too much happening on the screen, I think I’ll be using that soon (ESPECIALLY for AotV).

Hm. This’ll help a lot with Serpent. I’m horrible at maintaining DoTs. And if your Retadin is worth his salt, you’ll rarely ever go into Viper. Only on fights like Thaddius where your raid is not always together.
Oooh very nice, I’m new to power auras and managed to set it up for serpent sting and lock and load last week, I’ll certainly be adding this Mend Pet one though, very awsome

I am yet to use Power Aura but I do use MSBT and have to say grats on the good taste.
Power Auras is pretty nifty but you’ve got to be careful with it. If one sets up a lot of ability reminders, it is very easy to quickly amass a lot of visual clutter around your character.
Great addon. I’m keeping it simple with a health and mana warning, serpent sting warning and AotV warning. I couldn’t see the option anywhere, but is there a way to put a timer on the serpent sting warning? Something that’s flashing how long it has before it needs to be reapplied?

Not in the current aura, and you don’t want there to be. Remember, this just tells you when Serpent Sting is not applied; it’s not a count-down timer. Mobs can dispel Serpent Sting, and thus break the count-down early.
I tried this addon too but was not quite comfortable in the result.
I tend to keep my eyes on the mob I’m fighting and not so much myself, so Im using something similar – all the warnings I need, but with MSBT only.

I do not have this add-on but it seams to me that you might be able use it to deal with the cower bug and other pet bugs.
for example you can put up an aura if your pet has cower on or prowl on or any other procs that they have.
Kinda having some trouble with this addon. When im in combat and serpent sting is applied it still glows with the green glow around my character even tough it is checked “Show when not Active”. Same thing with the imported thing with the over 90% mana. Im getting the icon when im not in combat :/

I had been using K-something’s Hunter Timers, which was a great addon for most things, but NOT for Lock and Load Procs. I kept missing them in the list of buffs / procs I was tracking.
I spent an hour or so setting things up in a way I could understand / react to quickly, and now I don’t know how I could get along without it.
One question though, above you mention that using the timer for Serpent Sting wouldn’t work, because of mobs who dispell the sting.
I have SSting set up to show an aura and a timer, only appearing when the target has the sting applied. If I sting the target, the timer shows up perfectly. Question is, if the mob dispells this (I’m assuming the aura would fade), and I re-sting (causing the aura to re-appear), would the timer have reset?
BRK what settings do you have for MikScrollingBattleText? I’ve tried messing with it, but it never looks any where near as good as yours….

It definitly increased my dps. I’m usually competing with a good RL friend Rouge for top dps in nax but last night he had no chance. It helped with Explosive shot timer, knowing when hunters mark was down and when serpent sting was down. Also aspect of the viper was more easily recognized so I didn’t keep it up through a whole fight. Usually when I get a proc on Lock n Load I lose my timing on hunters mark and serpent sting but now I dont have to look at the boss to know its down. I just look at my aura. Sometimes if it goes down when I get a proc, I simply apply it between LnL explosives.

I tried the Petname and Pet in “Charname” but nothing.

Maybe it’s just because my computer probably couldn’t handle extra bells and whistles in a 25 man raid, but a lot of these addons seem unnecessary and more of a hindrance. I’ll go through my logic for each one of the auras BRK set up.
First off, AotV doesn’t exist in 25 mans from my experience. 10 mans are different, you’ll probably still have Replenishment but lack other mana regen buffs.
Secondly for Lock and Load, I find it’s easy enough to watch the cooldown on the action bar button itself. Every time I fire Explosive Shot I look at the action bar button. If I notice it’s cooling down at the GCD’s pace I know I’ve got to kill another GCD somehow before my next Explosive Shot. I’ve drilled it into my brain to never hit my “Y” key back to back.
As for Serpent Sting and Hunter’s Mark, I just try to be proactive and keep checking the debuff on the target’s frame. Your debuffs will always appear first on the list and larger than the other icons. I don’t like Power Auras for debuffs because I would rather watch it myself and maintain 100% uptime. Lets say, for example, that you fired Explosive Shot while Serpent Sting had less than 1 GCD remaining in its duration. Most likely some of the explosive shot ticks won’t benefit from Noxious Stings. It may not add a lot of damage, but I’d rather it be there than not.
TL;DR:
In my opinion Power Auras makes players more reactive than proactive. I think there are plenty of more efficient ways to process all that’s going on as an SV Hunter. If you want to use addons for all of it I would suggest Kharthu’s Hunter Timers for Serpent Sting and Hunter’s Mark, and any addon to make your Explosive Shot button larger so you can easily monitor how rapidly it cools down. I’m a standard UI player and I don’t find it too hard.
*looks at long string of comments* Pretty well everyone’s said this already, but one more never hurts… Thanks HEAPS, BRK, this addon is going to be GREAT! And not just for my hunter toons – I’m a serious altaholic, and I have enough toons scattered over enough classes that it gets hard to keep track of which spells need to stay up on which characters.
I can make myself a priest set of auras, and a warlock set, and, ooh, a death knight set that lets me know when my diseases are up and down… *wanders off making notes*
Great addon. Have it set up on my hunter now. There’s only 1 thing I can’t figure out. The Serpent Sting aura won’t deactivate when I have it active on my target. I used the string provided and imported it into the addon. All the others work fine. Not sure what’s going on.
I am also noticing that it seems to fail on any spells that are cast by me – including Serpent Sting and Explosive Shot. Also, if I set Hunter’s Mark to “Casted (sic) by me” it fails – but not if that option is switched off.
I wonder whether it’s dependent on something else for that to work properly…
Hopefully this will be updated before I give up and uninstall the add-on… ;-P
Not sure, but if it’s working when you don’t have “casted by me” enabled, It may be something in the character’s name. My hunter has a “ä” in his character name that’s thrown a few mods for a loop when it comes to saving settings. Maybe this is something similar? I’ll have to check when I get home.
For the record –
It is possible to do pretty much the same with Mike’s Scrolling Combat Text (Although it will annoucne things by Text rather then cool looking animation around your Hunter).
Might be worth for people with weak PCs that don’t want to chug their memory with another addon.

when i have used / imports your strings they show up on the tests but they dont alwayz show when i enter combat why is this i have done everything u have
Think i have it sorted – using this add on i came 2nd in a 10 voa -where i was normally 4th/3rd.
my dps was in the 2.5 area which i had trouble with before as i found survivial annoying and complex – now i feel more relaxed –
