Just what is this, bear-druid gear? Kitty? No dodge rating, it’s probably not tank gear…

But it smokes and looks sweet, we rolled a 98 with no druids in the run, so we’re gonna level our skill in staffs.

Just keep it hush-hush.

Nice! As long as the stats are good I say.

  2. Quatermain on February 3rd, 2009 11:33 pm

Your Wraith Spear is considerably better, but leveling staves in preparation for Journey’s End can’t hurt.

We’re running around with this http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40233 since last week.. Its dead sexy.

“…so we’re going to level our skill in *staves*.”.

    Tsk tsk, B!

    I got this…

This week. Yeah it is really Bear druid gear, but it was head and shoulders above the crap I was carrying before.

I was a bit confused at first at why the H VH staff had 44 more AP than this one at a cost of only 2 stam; it took putting it into the wowhead item calc to realize that the staff you just got has 630 armor. I guess when you’re not a druid and you’re not used to looking for such things they can creep up on you. Oh well, no harm done.

Nice man, I just won The Undeath Carrier from 25 man Naxx. No one else wanted it so I kind of got it by default.

Im sure there will be a few druids giving me some crap. but honestly, it owns for hunters too.

  9. Vulpinor on February 4th, 2009 1:22 am

Haha, I just upgraded my Kalu’ak harpoon to the Staff of the Plaguehound not 10 minutes ago. I know it has expertise on it but it was still a heck of an upgrade.

  10. Kirk on February 4th, 2009 1:30 am

You mean level your skill in staves.

  11. Kalimac on February 4th, 2009 1:35 am

theres actually a better staff in violet hold my character wields called Staff of Trickery. Has the same agility, a little less stam, but a ton more raw ap.

  12. Nimal on February 4th, 2009 2:09 am

    Druid Bear Plan
Step 1: Let them tank in stead of our pets
Step 2: Take over their weapons
    Step 3: TAME THEM!!! ^^

  13. Vegelus on February 4th, 2009 3:31 am

Well, we’ve tamed a warrior in vanilla WoW (old story found on some Blizz forum), so why not a baer now?:>

  14. Nuiach on February 4th, 2009 4:12 am

Got myself an undeath carrier http://thottbot.com/i40233 till I get better. It is a nice staff coming right behind black ice and journeys end.

  15. David on February 4th, 2009 5:51 am

I won’t tell BBB, but I doubt he’ll be upset… his druid is probably wearing a hunter weapon right now ;)

  16. Badweather on February 4th, 2009 7:07 am

I always wonder if it’s “ok” to lose crit and haste in favour of raw AP/AGI/STA.. Sure, Sta will convert into a bit of AP for us SV, but just how many points in haste and crit I can afford losing? Up to 1% (each stat) for each 100 AP? I’m far from haste cap (i.e. 1,5s steady shot) without 25man buffs, but there’s where 90% of my upgrades are anyway, and I’m rolling with around 32% crit.
Last but now least, I’m usign the Runeblade of Demonstrable Powah. Anyone care to insight? =[

  17. Twevo on February 4th, 2009 7:28 am

Q: Is this a Hunter weapon?

A: Every weapon is a Hunter weapon!!

  18. Beaker on February 4th, 2009 7:37 am

First Naxx run on the day the 3.0.8 patch hits….Journey’s End drops and the feral tank doesnt want it…woop!! yay me!!

  19. RJK on February 4th, 2009 8:10 am

Congrats!! There were not druids in a heroic nax when I
got the Undeath Carrier, Staff skill at 399…that last point
    takes forever!!

  20. vcproj on February 4th, 2009 8:16 am

    Bad weapon.

For SV you rather have as much haste as you can – at least to haste cap.

  21. WB on February 4th, 2009 9:19 am

No one is capping haste. Getting 523 haste rating is way too expensive compared to the losing other stats getting there.

Wraith Spear is still much better, as it doesn’t waste itemization points on stamina, as opposed to this staff.

  22. Dobmeister on February 4th, 2009 9:35 am

If druids can take our “Iciest Barbed Spears”, then Newton’s Three Laws state that we can take their “Greatstaffs of Curiously Giving Bonus Attack Power to a Boomkin”

  23. Baseballj on February 4th, 2009 9:53 am

I agree that the Wrath Spear is overall a better weapon. The Staff has 31 more AP but the Spear has 1.48% Crit and 1.37% Haste, neither of which you can get with one gem socket. I would of course use the staff in situations where I needed extra stamina, like tanking the back Horseman, kitting zombies, any fight with lots of AOE damage, etc.

BRK did not say he was going to replace the Wraith Spear, only that he got a nice piece of kitty loot and is now going to use it to increase his staff skill. I would do the same.

  24. Ximera on February 4th, 2009 10:01 am

im rolling with that one and the staff of trickery. I look rediculous with a staff, but they are all win on stats. gratz

  25. Neil on February 4th, 2009 10:17 am

Armor, BRK, really? 630 armor on a hunter’s weapon?!

You didn’t take it from a druid, so that’s something, but can you really walk around in Dalaran wearing an armor staff with a straight face?

  26. Rexfelis on February 4th, 2009 10:27 am

Yeah, I couldn’t resist picking up Origin of Nightmares when it was otherwise going to rot. I now have TWO chicken-on-a-stick weapons, *sigh*. :(

  27. Bromber on February 4th, 2009 12:01 pm

The thing looks great and I really like the puff of smoke.

  28. Grindurbonze on February 4th, 2009 12:22 pm

I did exactly the same thing. Got this staff and leveled staves skill. There should be another armsman achievement for 8 weapons, 12 weapons…

  29. BRK on February 4th, 2009 1:35 pm

Since there seems to be some confusion, we are most definitely NOT going to be using this instead of our Wraith Spear. It’s just pretty, that’s all.

  30. riffraff on February 4th, 2009 1:53 pm

Yeah, I was gonna say… it looks cool but that’s about all it’s got goin over the Wraith Spear. ;)

  31. Flaime on February 4th, 2009 1:55 pm

Depending on who you believe, its’s either the 3rd or 4th best Tank druid staff. It’s top 3 for Cats.

  32. Haarits on February 4th, 2009 2:10 pm

I picked up an unwanted blue staff from some instance with stats somewhat close to Runeblade of Demonstrable Power and Wraith Spear, leveled it from 1 to 375 in less than 20 minutes on the steps leading up to the DTK summoning stone, where trolls are fleeing. Had pet grab aggro, then set to passive, reapplying whenever needed… numbers just shot up. Took a few trolls, but it was worth it. Of course, I doubt I’ll use it since I have BOTH the stat-sticks I already mentioned :P But just in case something like Journey’s End drops someday, nice to have staves leveled a bit.

  33. RyanG on February 4th, 2009 10:29 pm

I’m rolling with http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40208 after some nice luck in H naxx. Very happy with it, plus 110AP. Delicious! :)

  34. Sylgrine on February 5th, 2009 4:14 am

This staff is a great tanking weapon for bear-druid I think (Stamina, armor and agility). Agility provides more dodge than dodge rating if you’re a druid.
Also this weapon is good for hunters too ;-)

  35. ladydeth on February 5th, 2009 9:48 am

Ill take one for my hunter, and one for the kitty druid, kthxbai!

  36. vcproj on February 5th, 2009 12:43 pm

    L2read.

I didn’t say to get haste by any means necessary…

I said as SV you want as much haste as you can get till cap.

This will allow you to fit your SS’s more easily between your ES’s.

BTW – with all valoruous pieces + wep and some off pieces it’s very easy to get close to the cap.

  37. joeboy on February 5th, 2009 5:06 pm

Ya do know that druids will roll against US for the Wraith Spear, right?

    I reckon it’s a fair deal

  38. Mr. Bear on February 6th, 2009 11:21 am

Shhh… Dont tell BRK that none of the druids staves have dodge on them… The distinguishing feature is whether or not there is armor. As for your stick… meh it “ok” but its a pretty lame feral tanking wep it looks cool though.

Wraith Spear? What kind of a self respecting tank would roll on that piece of junk? It has HASTE! My worst Nemesis because I am not parry capped yet. Damn you t7 and the shoulders lack of expertise!

Anyways only a “kitty” would care for your junk, and even then we have staves which are just as good in that department anyways.

We will nevar be tamed and we will nevar forget the day all the strength on our staffs became AP to accommodate you… nevar…
