We’ll take one of those, that’s for certain. Some folks may like Black Ice, but for us being hit-capped when we raid, Journey’s End rocks! Of course it looks like a toy horse a small child would “ride”, but that just means Kel’Thuzad is just a kid at heart. What an old softie, right?
And once again, we’re a phooter; we can haz crossbow. It’s the highest DPS-xbow in the game, and it isn’t as jab-your-eyes-with-a-fork ugly as another xbow we once used. How can ya say no, even if you’re a dwarf who loves guns… loves ‘em silly…
Now that we have 25-man Kel’Thuzad down, perhaps a gun will once again be in our future?

Was just looking at taht staff in AtlasLoot. Similar coincidence to me getting my helmet and gloves, then seeing you got them around the same time. Eek…
But I haven’t got this staff. I was interested in black ice, but to heck with that, the staff’s AP is awesome for BM (which I have respecced already in preparation of 3.0.9)

Awesome lootzes. I got the Xbow a few weeks ago, and it’s so much fun. Oddly enough, the thing was passed to me by the higher-ranked hunter of the guild. Guess he wasn’t a phooter at heart. Ah well. Helm and Shoulders to come . . . and maybe some boots? And I definately need a new melee weapon.
Loving my Final Voyage… and I’ve never really been an arrow guy, but this might change me (until, of course, a sweet gun comes along, then all bets are off). I’m jealous of your Journey’s End, but tomorrow is another Naxx (literally!).
How fast are you guys running Naxx 25? One or two nights?

Hmm gz on the staff but the bow? I dont know, I lose alot of crit as a fellow dwarf and that just tips the scales in dps output for me.
Afterall Bows are for girls!
As a BM I reather go with my nesingwary 4000 and get the extra crit. More focus for my pet, more cobra strikes and ofc the bonus of mortal shots on those crits.
This tips the scales in raids and solo dummy shooting for me…or maybe I just like guns more
What mod adds the “Slotvalue” to the tooltip?
That staff is nice, gratz BRK. I saw this horsy drop on our second Kel-fight together with gunny (my precioussss).
Passed it over to the other hunter to act social, friendly, nice and that sort of things ……. I wanted them both …
I can’t believe the stuff about druid staff!!
If you are hit capped that staff is by far BIS for SV hunter. Just because it has FAP on it does not automaticaly make it druid loot. Unless you can get druids to stop rolling on Black Ice!

The same way I’ve rationalized it with the Druids in mine – best in slot for me + best in slot for you = only fair that we take equal rolls at it. They don’t seem to disagree.
The staff dropped for my guild the other day. My druid is a tank so I didn’t bid dkp for it. One of our hunters bid more than our kitty druid and got it. Fair game. There’s no rule that says that staves with agility and AP are for druids. They used to be druid-only loot when they had Str.

1. our only feral druid (kelektra, above) is specced and geared for tanking. journeys end is not an ideal druid tanking staff. there is better…
2. we use a zero sum dkp system, so /roll doesnt factor in to who gets gear. bids start at 75 and go up by a minimum of 15. spent points are divided amongst the non-winning raid members.
3. three hunters in the raid, three hunters bid on the item. BRK bid the most and won. grats to him.

Nice loot indeed. I had the same xbow for a few weks, but I’m using the one from Patchwerk now while I wait for the gun we all want.
I lost to our other hunter on that staff, but i have the next best thing. Cryptfiends Bite.
I’m still saying that Black Ice is better than the rest, especially when you’re way under the hit cap.

It is, and he’s not. BRK, you need to regem and enchant a bit of hit to really take advantage of all this new firepower!
BRK is hit capped with talents and assumed 1%hr from dr presence.
for those who havent yet heard, the reported FA bug reducing crit rating has been disproved. basically, the main tester was not accounting for his frontal attacks resulting in blocked shots.
Seriously phat loot fo shizzle! If a druid would have needed the staff, they should have had first dibs on it, but I’m sure that wasn’t the case… right?
BRK is not hitcapped but getting close. With talents he is getting 2% hit and with 1% hit from Heroic presence he is up to 3% he doesn’t need. His hit rating only give him 4.61% hit rating which brings him to a total of 7.61%. The question becomes is the hit cap 8% or 9% because I’m not sure I’ve seen it verified.. If 8% then he’s in good position. But if it is 9% then he’s a bit short.

FA? Who uses FA? I’d rather use enchants on the gloves and Icewalker on the boots to get hit-capped if needed, rather than use FA which your pet doesn’t benefit from. Now if they fix it so it benefits pets, that’s another story…

Of course he’s a bit short – he’s a DWARF!
You’ll do way more total damage with the (vastly superior) crossbow than with the Nesingwary, but do what you like.
Gratz on the staff BRK. Still working my way up the DKP hole I dug before I claim one myself, but I can say you’ll be happy to one day replace that crossbow with the Envoy of Big Gunnery.

Also, you can slide by with low hit rating. I’m short the cap by .4% and don’ miss. You’d be surprised by what you can do.

Why does everbody think I do more dmg with the xbow! Its not true tesetd it again and its about the same as my nesingwary 4000. on traget dummys anyway 10 times with the bow and 10 times with the gun and my gun hits higer and thats with pet specia cooldows switched off.
Now i have to raid with a BOW I wish it was never made! Curse the crapics!

We’ve had three of these drop. Bear got the first, hunters got the next two.
I have two issues with them:
1) they look kinda stupid. Like BRK said, it looks like that horsehead on a stick that you would ride as a kid with your cowboy hat on and your grandparents oohing and ahhing about how cute you were. There’s a reason druid staffs don’t appear when in animal form and this is it.
2) Bigger issue. Massacre does not show on the staff. No glowy pretty sparkly effect. NOthing at all. You drop 1200g on 6 abyss crystals, the dam enchant should bloody jump up and crow for you.
unless i’m missing something Rating Buster does not provide the SlotValue we see along with ILevel
Not sure what happened to my other post apparently linking to elitest jerks forums isn’t a good comment. Anyways, what the point I as gonna make is that EJ has found 8.2% to be the hit cap currently.
And gratz on the gear BRK meant to say that earlier but felt like commenting towards the hit cap stuff.

I’m not saying it’s horrific but to say someone is hit capped doesn’t mean I’m still a bit short. Yeah I’m being technical about it but currently BRK is not hit capped regardless of whether you wanna consider it 8% or 8.2%. I’m still a bit surprised overall that BRK doesn’t have more base hit rating anyways considering all the different loot that seems to spill over with it and with the Dragon’s Blood Sphere out there too.
Just because you don’t see the kitty hitting something with the staff doesnt mean he’s not using it for Melee. They just don’t have animations of them using the weapon. Feral Druid is a meleer whose primary source for melee damage is the staff, much like a DK, Pally or warrior wielding a big sword. Just like I expect them to pass on a Ranged Weapon if Im rolling (my primary source of Damage) I do the same for them. Just like I waited till all our melee interested in Claymore of Ancient Power had it or declined it before I rolled, i would do the same for Black Ice or Journey’s End. I would /cry but it is the right thing to do. Of course thats my opinion.

Yes, it does.
So melee that is seen visually swinging a weapon has more right to gear than a shape shifter? Seems a little classist. Guess blizz should have the kitties start swinging weapons so the druids can have rights.
