Crossgrade Time
The Rating Buster addon is showing the differences between this bow and our xbow, Final Voyage.
Even though we’re hit-capped when raiding — thanks to Heroic Presence — we’re going to use this bow to try to reduce the number of pet-Misses we see. Tiny upgrades for RAP, Hit and Crit, and a modest loss of Haste. This is why swapping one weapon for another is considered a “crossgrade”; we prefer one item over the other, even though there’s no heavy difference between the two.
“Haste BRK? Why do you care about Haste? Your Steady Shot is already Haste-capped!”
Auto Shot, foshizzle. It’s always a BM-hunter’s #1 or #2 source of damage. We don’t care about Haste for Steady Shot, but faster and faster Auto Shots rock our world.
Is it a sad time to be a hunter when our #1 source of damage is Auto Shot?

I’m getting pretty tired of the BRK show-and-tell. More theorycrafting, less “look at me”.
Could you go into Rating Buster a bit? I’m currently using Pawn to try and give me a feel for what’s an upgrade or not, but to be honest, unless if both the Wowhead ranking (hit and int favored) and the Pawn ranking (agi and AP favored, if I’m remembering correctly) both agree, I tend to find myself trying them both out to see what suits me better. Also it means I’m building up two sets of gear – one where hitting isn’t an issue and one where it is.
I like looking a BRKs Epeen.

The post is titled “Crossgrade” and includes his reasoning for it. I call that helpful in these “I iz confused” hunter times. As someone on the BM/SV merry-go-round carrying around umpteen 1-handers, several sets of gloves, couple shoulders, couple leggings, arriving at a solid gear-up is quite trying.

This is a fairly nice upgrade for a lv80.

I’m confused over this comment. I was under the impression that our pet retained all of our hit rating from gear, but that they also receive the Draenei aura with on in your party (I know I see the buff on my pet). If the hunter is at hit cap without focused aim, then sholdn’t the pet be as well? Is a pets miss chance the same 8% as ours?
I’ll have to go check my WWS for pet misses, I’ve just been assuming they haven’t been happening, and that any misses reported were abosorb/dodge/glancing etc.
We could just post numbers from a {expletive deleted} spreadsheet, if you like.

Love arrowsong…been using it since my first pug 25 man that I lucked out and won! And have yet to see the Envoy drop in the month since. Rumor was the one 25 man I missed with my guild had it drop

Personally, I like seeing all the neat bits that I’ll more than likely never get my hands on. Pretty stuff makes me smile. And I consider the Spirit Beast in the “pretty stuff” catagory. Even though I am more than determined to get my hands on one.
If somebody is sick of reading about all the neat bits and sparkles that BRK is getting, the solution is simple enough – don’t read. Its his blog, he can have show and tell every day if that is his desire.
Though… I’d love another Daniel Mode Airman out-take at some point in the future – only if you have one lying around.
BRK, I don’t think RB takes into account your racial bonus for guns. So, you’re saccing a little less than 1% crit and that haste for 16 HR. If you want 16HR, just regem something and I guarantee you won’t lose as much as you do with this weapon.

I always wondered why Haste wasn’t at least mentioned for speeding up autoshots. Sure you get to a point where steady is under the GCD but faster auto is good no? I want .5 second auto shots. I want to scream at the boss, SAY ‘ELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!
Sure BM don’t stack haste but sheesh so hard to not have some haste.
Heck, when I moved back to BM from Survival due to change in playstyle my SS was 1.2 seconds.
Arrowsong is a gorgeous bow (and the first ranged weapon I’ve considered a “she”)–me and another hunter in my guild have it, and we are loving it.
I too would like to know what you mean by pet misses–if you’re hit capped, you’re hit capped–or are you at 7.99% so your pet is still at 7%? *is confused*

Ah the hit… I am currently in the focusing on getting somewhere close to the hit cap grind. I look longingly at all the AP and/or AGI and/or Crit gear just begging to be used in my bags that I sadly have to keep there until I can get my hit rating higher. I’ll review my stats and see progress (less and less misses), then I look at my poor pet’s misses and want to /cry. Plus, I’m going to have to move 3 of my precious talent points to FA to help matters until the hit gear comes along.
i want to re socket all my gear and auto shot the boss dummy in IF to see how fast i can get auto shot to go. just stack as much hastes as i can. lol

Interesting enough on certain fights my cat’s melee is the biggest source of my DPS, such as Patchwerk (website link) as well as Noth, Faerlina, Maexxna, and Sapphrion from this week apparently.
Arrowsong is a beautiful model, IMO. If I were into RP, I’d stick with the bow any day of the week. I cried (virtually) when I had to put her into the bank and equip Envoy of Mortality, which looks like something out of a Quentin Tarentino flick, a grotesque caricature of a weapon. But, for me, DPS >> RP, so Arrowsong sleeps with the fishes.
I’m not adding a whole lot to the conversation with this comment, but I feel the difference in “fantasy world” visual appeal between Arrowsong and Envoy of Mortality is so great as to be worthy of mention.
