Build 9626 is trying a new concept for Tenacity-pets: everybody can haz Thunderstomp.

How does a Worm “stomp”?

Hey! Remember that this is a PG-13 blog.

You naughty people.

You forgot the “redesigned” TnT change. And how it nerfs LnL by 50%.

  2. barefootwanderer on February 26th, 2009 7:22 am

maybe it just head-butts the ground really hard?

loving this change though, thunderstomping swiping aoe tanking bearadins ahoy :P

I was going to get a gorilla for aoe tanking as well as my bear. Now my bear is going to be so much fun :)

  3. Zahana on February 26th, 2009 7:32 am

Makes sense since they want to have diversity with what people have for pets.

  4. Storm on February 26th, 2009 7:33 am

    Thats freaking awesome.
Wow Barefoot, good call, imagine a bear with Thunderstomp and Swipe!
    AOE tanking FTW.

  5. Netheral on February 26th, 2009 7:37 am

Finally I will be able to level a good looking aoe tank. :3

  6. Cycon on February 26th, 2009 7:38 am

Yay my Baby Rhino can AoE tank now!

  7. scott_h on February 26th, 2009 7:46 am

And furious howl only affects the wolf and its master. That seems like a big nerf to wolves.

  8. Sev on February 26th, 2009 7:51 am

It’s more like a buff to wolves. As I understand it, it will only affect the wolf and hunter but it will now stack with Battle Shout and Blessing of Might.

  9. Arawn on February 26th, 2009 7:54 am

    According to GhostCrawler:
“Annelids have feet called setae. I’m not entirely sure what phylum a Jormungar is but they have little bristley bits that are probably similar in morphology. Whew. Dodged that one.”

  10. Asara on February 26th, 2009 8:10 am

I was going to say maybe it just hits the ground really hard with its tail, but that would be more of a Thundersmack, I suppose. XD

  11. Haus on February 26th, 2009 8:16 am

Worm? How does the slime I trained that thinks it’s a croc stomp?!?

  12. Shotgunpete on February 26th, 2009 8:17 am

A croc will be nice now, Bad attitude with Thunder stomp = win in my book.

  13. Fosin on February 26th, 2009 8:30 am

Why are they not buffing Exotics yet? BRK you may be forced to take a Raptor now. Brain for the Win…with the 10% increase in DPS it may over take Hobbs and Loq.

  14. Vish on February 26th, 2009 8:36 am

Crocolisks with Thunderstomp and bad Attitude will be the new gorilladin. i mean … Crockadin.

Of course, those who were lucky enough to catch one from the bugged oracle daily while they had the chance can have Oozeadin or Hydradin

Not renaming my Hydradile tho :D

  15. Calx on February 26th, 2009 8:42 am

Maybe finally a reason to get my Hydralisk out from hiding?! Could it be that I have to say good-bye to Gorilladin? Tough times are ahead for Hunters who love their pets. /sigh…

  16. hunters4dawin on February 26th, 2009 8:47 am

finally baby rhino gets some love now only if they kept the rhino bowling part of him….lol

  17. Shagrat on February 26th, 2009 8:49 am

Awesome, just awesome. This was something I wanted for a long time, and gorilladin will now also be able to spell interrupt. I imagine that furious howl will stack with BoM and/or Battle Shout now so you may very well see wolves start popping up in raids. Diversity, it’s a good thing.

  18. Ronken on February 26th, 2009 8:54 am

So does this mean that the bears will be in favor with two aoe abilities, swipe and thunderstomp, on relatively small CD’s? I won’t miss my butt-scratching fugly gorilladin much, but now I wonder what will be best after him. I’m thinking the croc CD is too long and it only uses bad attitude on strikes against you. According to Mania:

    Bad Attitude

Snap back for [rank] damage at any target that strikes you for the next 45 sec.
    Melee Range
    Instant 2 min cooldown

    Swipe

Swipe nearby enemies, inflicting [rank] damage.
    20 Focus Melee Range
    Instant 5 sec cooldown

So I’m seeing some big-bear-butt in my future. What do you guys think?

  19. RJK on February 26th, 2009 8:58 am

Ronken looks like you are right in bout the big bear in our future. gonna grab a white one…let me go see petopia and browse…oh wait offline NOOOOO!

My Raptor (CleverGirl) is really excited bout this news!!

  20. Bringthpain on February 26th, 2009 9:00 am

You know there has been times where i have brought my Worm into a party or 10-man for lack of armor reduction. This will be nice to be able to bring him and actually see some dps out of him. That is if Stomp still scales like it did for the gorilla. Now they just need to move Core Hounds into the Tenacity Tree or let us tame the Stegodon’s in Un’Goro and put them in Tenacity. Thunderstomping Stegodon would be awesome.

  21. Torgall on February 26th, 2009 9:05 am

Perhaps those worms will coil up, heave themselves up into the air, and land really hard on the ground! lol

And if Furious Howl does indeed stack, then I too see it as a buff to the wolf.

Finally, I can farm with my bear!!! He’s been in the stables since hitting 80. The poor thing leveled me from 20 to 80 so I’m sure he’s feeling neglected (I still farm with him on rare occasions, just to get him some exercise).

I mean Uhkloc is cool and stuff, and taming him was a good camping trip, but we’ve never hit it off. He’s only there for one purpose really, rounding up wolves and worms in Storm Peaks, and mammoths every once in a while.

  22. FEUERHUND on February 26th, 2009 9:09 am

A worm would Thunderstomp the same way a whip “cracks”, it would whip the ground with its tail.

Wolf/Furious howl nerf is a bummer.

    Oozadin FTW!

  23. RJK on February 26th, 2009 9:17 am

Just a note, petopia is baaaack woot

  24. Meritus on February 26th, 2009 9:18 am

Where in the Tenacity tree is this new universal Thunderstomp. If it’s too far down then AoE leveling may have just taken a huge kick to the groin.

  25. JayCanuck on February 26th, 2009 9:22 am

I just realized how sweet this change makes Turtles

    Thunderstomp Plus Shell Shield

    Shell Shield
–No Focus– 1 min cooldown (42sec for BM, off the global cooldown too!)
The turtle partially withdraws into its shell, reducing damage taken by 50% for 12 sec.

An extra “oh $hit!” button ;-p

  26. Kris on February 26th, 2009 9:26 am

Kinda sad my Gorilla won’t be as an effective tank. I am looking forward to the ability to finally start lvling my cat I got a lvl 10.

  27. Stormy Dragon on February 26th, 2009 9:33 am

So are the champion seals the ‘don’t open my letter’ kind or the ‘arr-arr-arr-HONK!’ kind?

  28. Gringott on February 26th, 2009 9:38 am

    @ Kris

Your gorilla will still be an effective tank, it will just have a useless PVP attack that you’ll have to take off of auto-cast.

If you love your monkey, keep running it.

  29. Zhire on February 26th, 2009 9:52 am

Hmnn…but what about warpstalkers? I use Gezzerak aka Elli as my tank pet. :D

  30. Kris on February 26th, 2009 9:55 am

    @Gringott

I suppose. Probably going to have to create a macro to make sure that it’s turned off. I’ll put it right next to my cower macro. :P

  31. Zalenna on February 26th, 2009 9:58 am

ohhh ……i amd so getting a Bear now if that is the case ……Thunderstomp Bear with Swipe . FTW

  32. Dobmeister on February 26th, 2009 10:03 am

I feel so overjoyed by this news.

Since patch 3.0, I’ve had a rather lonely Warp Stalker, affectionately named Bodmeister, confined to the stables. I first had him as a PvP pet, you know, screw around with mages as you warp back and forth across EotS to spam Claw in your face, but then with the shift to Tenacity his DPS fell.
He did OK for single-target pre-WotLK, post-3.0 tanking, but AoE threat generation from a generic Gorilladin overcame the force of companionship.
Although, now I’m not too sure what to do. I kinda like my Feralas ochre tone gorilladin, named in honour of our guild’s prime Tankadin (and my prime DPS competitor in TBC Karazhan raids). But, I might switch back to Bodmeister as that was all I wanted Gorilladin for.

Let’s hope this keeps for 3.1 Live!

  33. kunukia on February 26th, 2009 10:08 am

Yay, because I LOVE crabs! Crab with AOE? Woohoo!

  34. Wolfwarior on February 26th, 2009 10:11 am

Oh finally I can get my warp stalker out of stable! Hic cute lil face is gonna be around again, yay ^^

  35. Anonymous on February 26th, 2009 10:12 am

i think i’m going to try a bear. seems like
    Swipe
    +
    Thunderstomp
    =
even spec’d survival, damage might not pull aggro from the bearadin

  36. Paul567 on February 26th, 2009 10:12 am

From the sounds of it the new thunderstomp changes are going to make Bears and Turtles the best tenacity pets for leveling and farming.

And with the addition of pummel, this might also make the Gorilla a tenacity pvp pet?

My beef with this is that farming and leveling without thunderstomp sucks. For those of you that hit 80 already, you have nothing to fear but what about all the new leveling hunters? If this becomes an ability that you can only get if you are lvl 60+ it’s going to be painful for future hunters to level.

  37. Ronken on February 26th, 2009 10:15 am

I also just realized something else, how narrow minded of me! I can now lvl up my beloved armored boar for some nostalgic good times! woot!

  38. Lythic on February 26th, 2009 10:16 am

My buddy Wallet, with whom I leveled from 14 to 80 is finally getting the love he derserves. Bad Attitude is an awesome skill, and can all ready dish out a lot of damage if you give him time to grab significant aggro. Now I’ll be chain pulling entire zones and burning them all down in a quarter the time.

Also: remember, this isn’t a nerf for Gorillas. In all reality, it’s a buff… they keep thunderstomp and get a cool new ability. They do, however, loose their status as the only tenacity pet on the block… which is good, in my book.

  39. kunukia on February 26th, 2009 10:16 am

Oh come on, Paul567, I had five hunters at 70 the old fashioned way, before Lich King. One or two mobs at a time. Still easypeasy with a hunter!

  40. kunukia on February 26th, 2009 10:18 am

Boars!!!!! My boars can come back out of the stable!
OK, I am gonna stop posting, but OMG I is a happy hunter!

  41. saphia on February 26th, 2009 10:19 am

I’m picturing a cobra strike. But since the worm is not very coordinated, it misses and slams its head on the ground instead. It gets lots of headaches.

  42. Dalaila on February 26th, 2009 10:20 am

    New **Furious howl** question

On PTR “Furious howl” does not apply to hunter (pet only). On my level 80 toon my wolf gets +316AP for 20sec (intended) but I do not get the buff (and watching the character screen I confirm the buff bonus does not appear).

Is that a bug or is the tooltip wrong, meaning the AP bonus should be applied to pet only?

  43. Altheaus on February 26th, 2009 10:24 am

    o. m. g. ….. I’m taming a boar again, I miss Razor he was my first pet,… I miss his squeal… and with thunderstomp he will be able to farm with me again… me = happy :) :)

  44. Dalaila on February 26th, 2009 10:30 am

    New **Furious howl** question #2

This ability now lasts 20sec on a 40 sec cooldown. That means you get the AP bonus every 20 seconds. Live version lasts 10sec on a 10sec cooldown, meaning you have it always up (a net +160AP full time @ level 80).

It should be more or less the same, is it? The new AP bonus scales with hunter’s AP so it could get even better. What do you think?

  45. Dalaila on February 26th, 2009 10:31 am

    New **Furious howl** question #3

Does it stack with other AP raid buffs?

  46. Rob G on February 26th, 2009 10:39 am

Totally gonna get a bear tank with my Hunters. I love Bears!

  47. Paul567 on February 26th, 2009 10:39 am

I wonder if Thunderstomp is going to only be available to BM hunters through the Beast Mastery talent?

  48. Ahrtu on February 26th, 2009 10:42 am

I still wish they would put boars back where their charge affected their growl so that they started with a big aggro spike. I miss my porkmissile… Um… wait. That’s didn’t sound quite right. Look. He was fast, and he’s a pig, right?

  49. Eresin on February 26th, 2009 10:56 am

    woo rhino here i come.

p.s. i want more stable slots, make it happen!

  50. Euripides on February 26th, 2009 10:58 am

@Ahrtu You owe me a new keyboard

  51. Allarr on February 26th, 2009 11:09 am

Wow, I TOTALLY misread this when I saw it yesterday. I got as far as “Thunderstomp has been removed from the game” and immediately started throwing a temper-tantrum and crying my eyes out.

This, gentlemen and ladies, is complete and utter win :-D .

  52. Shagrat on February 26th, 2009 11:09 am

Thunderstomp is where intervene currently is, and intervene has been moved further down the tree. Even a non-BM hunter should have no problems reaching it.

  53. hunter eriic on February 26th, 2009 11:14 am

This means i can keep my big white bear as I level up, and not need to get a gorilla in the 30s. Though I will, Cause big angry gorillas are almost as cool as big angry beears in my book :)

  54. Rewt on February 26th, 2009 11:14 am

This reminds me of the old EQ days when the combat text would read:

Red Adder Snake kicks you for 10

How on earth does a snake kick?

  55. Ximera on February 26th, 2009 11:22 am

ok as a gorilladin user, i must protest. Blizz is continually trying to make everything the same, but all pets are not created equal. Gorillas have been thunderstomping since i tamed mine in stranglethorn. No other pets have been able to do it, and I dont think they should. Different pets have their abilities for a reason, please leave it that way. I dont want a wormadin.

  56. Kiya on February 26th, 2009 11:39 am

Actually from the comments in this thread the change is making multiple pets viable for people, both for their models and for their special abilities. Thunderstomp was so helpful for leveling that that’s all we ran, but Blizzard wants us to use a bigger variety of pets than just gorillas. By giving it to the tenacity tree as a whole, they accomplish that goal. As for me, I’ll be able to run WonderPig again. He’s so cute when he wiggles his butt! :)

  57. Vyomesh on February 26th, 2009 11:44 am

    Then be happy Ximera.
You can keep Gorilladin, as more people will drop it for other tenacity pets who dont loo like Dwarf but.

  58. Skarlarth on February 26th, 2009 11:46 am

    Yay!

My Crocolisk (Dundee) no longer needs to be jealous of Gorilladins.

However, my Coyote (Suprgenyus) is now no longer as party friendly as before… sad.

    Skar and Co.
    Medivh

  59. Shaun Nickerson on February 26th, 2009 11:54 am

Wow, I really really like this change. The Gorilla just became the bane of all caster classes in PvP. Imagine what its going to do to healers?

MM hunters could possibly end up with 3 ways to stop a caster dead in his tracks. Silence shot, scatter shot, gorilla

I serously smell a nerf coming when someone at blizzard figures this out.!

  60. Ges on February 26th, 2009 12:00 pm

So I may have a Crarborrior or a Bearuid tank pet, don’t want my poor buddies compared with nasty paladins even in name.

  61. Regolith on February 26th, 2009 12:03 pm

Ximera, I protest your protest! The current thinking about pets is that the family talents should make them different, but not necessarily better. Thunderstomp clearly made them better than all other tenacity pets which “forced” hunters to use them instead of their preferences. (Read the comments here!) By making this a tenacity skill – which I think is proper if tenacity = tanking – and giving gorillas something else, then I think everyone is better off… gorillas and the other tenacity pets.

  62. Krel on February 26th, 2009 12:17 pm

I agree with Regolith – I have a gorilla because of thunderstomp, no other reason. I’ll be probably going bear for farming, I have a hard time with the Dwarf Hunter with pet… gorilla? :)

  63. Corrado Hemingway on February 26th, 2009 12:19 pm

As an O.G. (original gorilla), it’s sad to see them lose what made them popular and no longer a “vanity pet.” But also as an O.G., it’ll be nice to see who keeps them now that they won’t be the new hotness anymore. I, for one, still welcome our gorilla overlords. But will probably go back to using my Rhino again. Don’t tell U’Cha that’s why he’s in the stables.

  64. Athelus on February 26th, 2009 12:35 pm

    Wouldn’t a worm Flop?

  65. Ronken on February 26th, 2009 12:38 pm

“So I may have a Crarborrior or a Bearuid tank pet”

Lets see, I will have a Bearruid and a Boarrior.

Sorry Potus, you are now free to be as you were.

(BTW, Potus was named after the last President, not the current one.)

  66. Zaheela on February 26th, 2009 12:39 pm

YAY! Now my noisy, seemingly tri-polar ghost hydra isn’t a vanity pet anymore!

My guess, it doesn’t stomp, it Tail Whips/pounds the ground.

  67. Otik on February 26th, 2009 12:41 pm

Maybe call it “Worm pounding” ?

  68. Lapoune on February 26th, 2009 12:49 pm

Yep, but what will be the new gorilla skill Banana Slip………. Every other tenacity pet will have TS……

  69. Derang on February 26th, 2009 12:49 pm

I believe that worm “stomping” is best described by the Dutch (word of the year ‘08) term ’swaffelen’.

    :D

  70. Jet on February 26th, 2009 1:04 pm

It’s just like when they took charge from boars and made it available to every pet. Well I can’t speak for cunning pets,I don’t have one. A lot of pets will benefit, but it kind of homogenizes pets. I suppose it’s win,but a little sad. However there are other things that are more worthy of worry. Like how I can’t take my cat or spirit beast out cause of the annoying prowl/cower thing.

  71. Morobir on February 26th, 2009 1:07 pm

There’s one aspect of this that I’m pretty nervous about. They’re adding this additional tier of abilities to pet talents, but we still only have 20 points in pet talents to spend, as far as I know.

It’s not like my pet builds had a bunch of worthless talents that I just had to take because I had so many useless talent points to spend.

Every talent spent on the last tier is going to have to be taken away from some lower-tier ability. :(

  72. Saottleoveer on February 26th, 2009 1:24 pm

Whooa – this _is_ a big deal.

Others may disagree but for me Gorilladin was the be-all and end-all of tenacity pets. I so wanted to love my rhino but it just didn’t tank like I’d hoped it would and I ended up dropping it after a few weeks. Finally it’s time to tame a new one!

Big love to Bliz for doing this. :)

  73. Sade on February 26th, 2009 1:43 pm

Hooray for parity between pets! I absolutely hate gorillas bu I loved the idea of thunderstomp.

  74. Shagrat on February 26th, 2009 2:03 pm

Ximera-Weren’t you complaining about this over on the WoW DD forums too?

Why should one pet be far and away the best at any ONE given role? The gorillas were the best AoE tanks, there were also the best single target tanks. I don’t know about you but I like the idea of being able to AoE farm with a clattering scorpid, ferocious bear and not have to pigeonhole myself into using a butt-scratching ape. Gorillas still have a unique ability (very handy against caster mobs while soloing I might add) in addition to being a very good AoE tank. I got frustrated as hell every time I would pull aggro off my bear whenever I faced more than three mobs that didn’t stand directly in front of it. It’s thinking like that that feels to me that a hunter should only be able to tame three pets: cat, gorilla, and crab.

I digress… I’m going to have a hell of a time deciding what tenacity pet I want in my stables now.

  75. Kwizz on February 26th, 2009 2:12 pm

Only thing is, thunderstomp will now require you to be level 44 as opposed to level 32 for a Mistvale Gorilla.

  76. Izsera on February 26th, 2009 2:15 pm

SO many changes to my pets…. I need some time to think about it.

I use a wolf and a hydra, mostly, so this should be quite interesting…

  77. Garouk, Tauren Hunter of Gilneas on February 26th, 2009 2:18 pm

    Booger-lisk AOE FTW.

  78. Krel on February 26th, 2009 2:23 pm

so they’re opening up the tenacity tree pet choices with this… all of a sudden people are talking about using a worm, gorilla, bear, boar, etc.

For pvp tho, it’s what – a crab? anything else, really?

Maybe Pin needs to go in the cunning tree? would it have the same effect for pvp pet choices?

Maybe the wrong talent, but you get the idea – there’s the tanking pet, the raid pet, and the pvp pet – as Shagrat says, that’s gorilla, cat, and crab now. What talent should go in each pet’s tree to make the whole tree more viable?

And yes, I know the crab is in Tenacity, but it sure seems like the Cunning tree should be the PvP tree, doesn’t it?

  79. Marathonian on February 26th, 2009 3:04 pm

So another excuse to use when I get called on the carpet for naming my Ragefire Chasm Earthborer “Tallywhacker”.

    Yeah, I went there.

But really what else could I name him?

  80. Irwin on February 26th, 2009 3:51 pm

Woohoo! Now I can fish Steve out of the stable and ditch Grodd! Happy times all around!

  81. Ximera on February 26th, 2009 3:53 pm

@ Shagrat . No i dont really comment on any other forums anywhere else, so it certainly was not me. Probably just another similar name. Im all for hunters using the pets that they love and want, so if giving them all thunderstomp makes hunters as a whole happy then it is a good thing. I am still keeping my gorilla for its potential new ability and since i have had it for 40 lvls, but i will have to think a lot about other tank pets too. Cant say i really use one much besides farming leather and meats for cooking. My new spirit beast is for raiding. If the hunter community likes the change then it is fine, as long as pets keep unique abilities to make them special.

  82. Egamamai on February 26th, 2009 5:11 pm

@Arawn: Does anyone else find it ironic that when asked how a worm can Thunderstomp, Ghostcrawler essentially…. squirmed?

At least, that’s the impression I got from his “setae”/”bristley bits” response.

  83. duniness on February 26th, 2009 5:26 pm

    Woohoo! Scorpid Stomp!

  84. joeboy on February 26th, 2009 5:36 pm

Wooo-Hoooo I can now take out my littke RFK armoured piggy again!!!

I love me little pig :)

  85. Felandra on February 26th, 2009 5:40 pm

    Good news indeed.

While I have been loving my ‘Deadsexeh’ Gorilla, and might be keeping him for the name alone, I have long since been loving Bears. But with no saving grace I have never bothered. And while I must admit to some speedy hearts when I saw Bad Attitude in action, I quickly recovred my wits and now I find it to be too long CD to be efficient. And Crocs aren’t that nice to me.

I foresee plenty Ony attempts with Turtles. :D

The Wolf change… well well well, this might indeed be one of the most lovely changes. That of course depends on the Hunter getting the benefit. If he/she does then I would say that it is awesome, like a level 70 trinket proccing every 40 seconds for 20 seconds. That’s a lot. And Wolfs look absolutely awesome. I can imagine many MM and Surv Hunters with Wolves. Raptors might also become even more efficient, so I really hope the two put up agianst each other is a tossup. I would so love to tame one of the black G’mork wolves.

A Bear for Tenacity and a Wolf/Raptor for DPS… YES!

  86. Jon on February 26th, 2009 6:19 pm

    Hey BRK!

Just wanted to let you know that even though I haven’t played WoW for almost 2 years, I still frequent your blog. You are an ambassador.

It seems cool and good but having thunderstomp for a gorilla only was way cool!
Oh well. If it makes the majority of hunters happy then it’s all good.

  88. Dan on February 26th, 2009 6:40 pm

So…….you mean to tell me they are coming up with MORE ways to make a K-9 pet even MORE worthless?!?!?!

For the love of psitol pete and potato chip sandwiches!!!! The wolves should be buffed if anything, not freaking nerfed even more man.

    Just my 2 cents.

  89. hunterguy on February 26th, 2009 6:56 pm

    “especially crabs” . lol GC

  90. Mike on February 26th, 2009 8:16 pm

Now I’m not sure whether to get a croc, bear, turtle, or rhino…what do you guys think?

  91. Megrarthon on February 26th, 2009 10:32 pm

Honestly, I’m happy and annoyed at the same time.

It’s great that all tenacity pets are getting Thunderstomp, and I’m of the thought that the Croc Bad Attitude ability in conjunction with Thunderstomp will be very nice, but I’m annoyed that I no longer have my crocoslime, now that it would totally rock. I gave up the slime because I was told the LSD wasp was becoming untameable, and I thought I’d use the wasp more. Now my raid threatens to kick me when I bring the wasp.

Regarding stable slots, they are all in use by pets i’d rather not loose, and is was a hard choice between the slime and the wasp.

Highly irritating, as i missed out on the Ghost wolf too because Blizzard lied :P And now, I’m missing the slime, and stuck with a useless wasp.

Now my raid threatens to kick me when I bring the wasp.

Do what I do – tell them to bring a Boomkin for the Faerie Fire or shut the hell up and get over it.

  93. KernelG on February 27th, 2009 4:18 am

I have a young hunter on a new realm who just tamed a gorilla for solo PvE. The big downside of this is that I will actually lose Thunderstomp until the pet hits, what, level 44 to have enough points? I guess I need to get crackin’. Maybe a bear..

  94. Blasterion on February 27th, 2009 5:51 am

i am seeing bear as the best AoE tank now with the cleave

  95. Ronken on February 27th, 2009 8:32 am

Bear is the way I’m leaning unless I hear otherwise. I just don’t have the time to sink anymore what with taking class, household stuff, and having kids. So I’m counting on all of you to do the time sink and let us know if it’s the croc or the bear. Thank you! :)

  96. Skarlarth on February 27th, 2009 8:36 am

“Now my raid threatens to kick me when I bring the wasp. ”

Heh heh, that is why my Wasp is named “Obstrcdview”.
Healers and melee hate her, but she gets the job done.
And yes it is the queen ;)

    CRAPS

“The BLUE post has ESPECIALLY CRABS in caps.”

My stable will have to change…
    -Gorilla (80)
    -Spirit Beast (80)
    -Cat with red eyes—(80)
    -Ghost Sabre (cat) (78)
    -Moth (80)

Thinking I now need to go with…
    -Spirit Beast (80) “Never Remove”
    ** Dino (DPS)
    **Turtle (OT)
**Moth (I just like the survivability of the moth for single target farming and quest boss killing)
**Then I must pick one of my cats.. probably the Ghost Saber.

BLIZZ – Please increase our pet stables again. How about 3 more slots for 1000g

  98. Shagrat on February 27th, 2009 10:24 am

    Ximera-My apologies :)

My stable looks like this currently:
    Moth
    Gorilla
    Spirit Beast
    Spider
    Wasp

The only two that will stay no matter what are the spirit beast and the wasp (sapphire hive queen) the other three I could possiby change, depending on what happens with the patch. I agree with the more stables :)

P.S. Does the thought of a scorpid thunderstomping make anyone else chuckle?

  99. Grazhnakk on February 27th, 2009 12:25 pm

If this sticks (and it’s too early to tell), it’s a great thing: hunters will be able to more easily pet tank in 5-man dungeons, we’ll start seeing more tenacity pet diversity, and I get to bring Charley my hydralisk out more!

(’Cause hydralisk/croc Bad Attitude + Thunderstomp = mad farming aggro skillz. And he’s got 3 heads. That don’t like each other. It’s so cute.)

I hope it works out that this sticks, ’cause I like the idea of seeing more than gorillas and cats on other hunters.

    hunded posts!

They fart! I’m glad Blizzard is doing this. I’m tired of rolling with Big G! I will miss him.

“Hold on while I whip my worm out…”

Sorry. Sticking with bear & gorilla goodness.

  103. Caeralan on March 2nd, 2009 3:03 pm

I’m surprised no-one has commented on the single rank of the new Thunder-stomp skill. The proposed skill will do only 161 to 163 Nature damage to all enemies within 8 yards.

From what I can see when compared to the current Gorilla stomp which has 6 ranks, this will leave your new tankadin at about the same effectiveness as a current Level 50 Gorilla.

The proposed damage is a long way short of the rank 6 damage a current Gorilla can do, ie 236 to 334.

So at Level 80, farming away,a re you sure your new tankadin will be able to hold agro on five mobs at once?

  104. Dare on March 10th, 2009 10:45 am

Holy crow, my golden worm of justice can thunderstomp?!

    I’m a certified Wormadin. :3

  105. Gungnir on April 2nd, 2009 6:09 am

For a while I wasn’t so keen on the worm, but thought that it had an awesome ability for PVE poison + stacking armor debuff. Strangely the first day I saw the huge elite Jormungar in Dragonblight I suddenly had to tame one. I have loved every minute of leveling with it and it now gets better with thunderstomp. Even named it Jormungandr to keep with my Norse Mythology naming scheme.

It doesn’t seem to popular of a pet either so its kinda refreshing not seeing 1897234829 hunters in Ironforge with one.
