Spirit Beast Pull-Toy

You may now worship the Spirit Beast Pull Toy, in all its glory.

spirit_beast_wheel_540

How big is it?

spirit_beast_ruler_540

Pretty big!

  • With wheels: L: 9 1/4″ W: 3 1/4″ H: 4 1/4″
  • Without wheels: L: 9 1/4″ W: 1 3/8″ H: 3 7/8″

From the hands of John at GrecoWoodCrafting.com, we are proud to offer this one-of-a-kind toy to our readers.

“Finely sanded to 400 grit and left in a natural, unfinished state. If yours has wheels, they will be attached using a non-toxic, FDA approved glue making this toy 100% compliant with the new CPSIA regulations. Due to the wood being left unfinished, oils from your hands will transfer to the wood over time, slowly adding more depth and richness to the grain and color.”

If you would like to order the toy WITHOUT wheels — or the axle holes, natch — please click this link:

.
.

If you would like to order the toy WITH wheels, please click this link:

.

We asked for a little notch between the ears, which you can partially see in the bottom picture. The top picture is a prototype pic that doesn’t show the notch, but the similar pic that does show the notch is a little fuzzy, so we went with the in-focus one.

In either form, with wheels or without, the toy is $39.95 plus shipping, which is $4.80 for a single toy to anywhere in the United States, (international shipping charges will apply, just like with our teeshirts).

You have a very limited time to place your order, after which we pull this item from sale. Saturday, 14 March 2009 is the last day you can order.

If this toy does well, we can foresee the entire menagerie of hunter-pets being offered in similar fashion.

Let’s stimulate the economy and put your tax refund to work! Order your Spirit Beast Pull Toy today and put a smile on the face of your favorite hunter!

The hunter in me wants one.

The rules-monger in me wants to know if they come with the CPSIA certificate, as required by law.

The griefer in me wants to shoot it.

    >.>

  2. John/Aaranay on March 9th, 2009 4:57 pm

Natural, unfinished materials including wood have been deemed by the CPSC to naturally be under the lead regulations of 600 parts per million. The glue is inaccessible. Testing has been put off as a requirement until February 10th, 2010 but even then, due to the unfinished state of the wood, this would not require testing.

    I hope you enjoy! :)

    That’s epic!

I want one – but shipping is expensive (to germany).

  4. Nyctreinar on March 9th, 2009 4:59 pm

Want. Only… What tax refund? I’m not a bank president or insurance executive, I didn’t get any bailout money. Hell, I’m happy that I’m still employed, unlike half my Guildmates.

Try again in 6 months. Maybe some of us will have money to spend after the mortgage, utilities, and groceries are paid for. A new car is definitely not on the plan for this year, so I don’t need to worry about that.

  5. Cycon on March 9th, 2009 5:00 pm

I’d really love one, but college takes all my moneys away from me :(

    DOH.

    /fixed

  15. Thealliance on March 9th, 2009 7:05 pm

lol now the rest of the 2nd links sentence doesnt make as much sense

The 1st links sentence obviosly also isnt clarified as to what is missing

I suggest if its possible reverse the previous change and just switch the links

  16. Cel on March 9th, 2009 7:14 pm

Just used the links. Everything worked properly.
What kind of wood are the toys made from?

  17. John/Aaranay on March 9th, 2009 7:57 pm

The toy bodies are made from Fir, so they are sturdy without feeling too heavy. The wheels are made from Maple.

Thanks BRK. Thanks John–you’ve got a great thing going!

  19. SaddenedHunter on March 9th, 2009 8:14 pm

Seems like your making a lot of money off fans of the game using Blizzards creations.

Shouldn’t be using your blog made popular by fans of your teachings in the way of the hunter, to make money off your fans.

Sad to see Bigredkitty going corporate.

  20. Cycon on March 9th, 2009 8:14 pm

You know what, I’m gonna grab one with the excess loan money I have. I really love my spirit beast, it’s way cool, and the moneys going somewhere it needs to be, not just Hardees or something.

    *Edit:

I do, however, need to know about how long it’ll be before they ship out. I need to know whether to have it shipped to my home or college address.

  21. Longshot on March 9th, 2009 8:48 pm

Completely unrelated to the cute toy ……

Can I ask why you have Mirror of Truth as one of your trinkets, when the proc is melee based? Is it just for the stats?

Also grats on having the Greatness card …. I dream of having that …. one day.

  22. Cel on March 9th, 2009 8:49 pm

    @SaddenedHunter

Honey, if you don’t wish you spend your money, noone’s going to make you.
Last I checked, I wasn’t forced to pay for access to this site.
Anyone here who chooses to buy a shirt or toy do so because they feel like it.
Ever since I started reading this blog, I’ve never noticed any high pressure sales tactics or shakedowns for fan cash. Lighten up, dear.

  23. PT on March 9th, 2009 9:36 pm

    @SaddenedHunter

Sounds like BRK is just helping out this John feller with his little wood making business. No harm in that imho. heck, no harm in BRK selling BRK stuff. It’s not like anyone has to buy it.

    btw, John, nice work.

  24. SaddenedHunter on March 9th, 2009 9:40 pm

@ My Reply’s. Profit sharing between a creator an a advertisement firm is a common corporate activity.

  25. Stang on March 9th, 2009 10:16 pm

    @ SaddenedHunter

BigRedKitty World Wide Amalgated may or may not reserve the right to act as a vendor for keychains, mugs, teeshirts, and/or Spirit Beast Pull Toys. BRK is corporate, feller. IMO, I’d get one of these if I could, props to John Greco for devoting a little extra time into this project,.It looks epic. Mr. Greco, you just keep up the good work.

  26. BRK on March 9th, 2009 10:43 pm

Sad to see Bigredkitty going corporate.

Money makes the world go ’round, foshizzle.

We sell a few shirts, we make a few bucks, we can then pay for the hosting services, artists, programmers, database administrators, and 3-6TB of bandwidth (yes, terabytes) that BRK the Blog chews though on a monthly basis.

We could make the site pay-per-view. We could have a little “Donations please!” button that would get no clicks.

Or we could find a really cool woodworker who plays WoW and have him design a WoW-themed — we do NOT wish to violate copyrights — toy that people can choose to purchase.

We, obviously, prefer the tertiary solution.

  27. Cycon on March 9th, 2009 11:15 pm

Can I get an approximate date on when these will ship so I know which address to put down?

  28. Mike on March 9th, 2009 11:35 pm

This just reminds me of how close I’ve come twice to getting him. Once saw a warrior kill him and /lol at me, then I saw a druid kill him who didn’t know about him….cool toy btw.

  29. Dreyja on March 9th, 2009 11:37 pm

*cheers* Well said all. We could spend money on the crappy plastic toys out there or we can support a fellow player AND help BRK keep this great site going. Wins all ’round!

“Can I ask why you have Mirror of Truth as one of your trinkets, when the proc is melee based? Is it just for the stats?”

My pet does melee damage, does yours?

The toy is awesome, makes me want to hop on my flyer and camp the thing again. Too many hours spent hoping “Longnecked Grazer” would turn into “Loque’nahak”.

  32. SaddenedHunter on March 9th, 2009 11:47 pm

Indeed, in a world where people are losing their house, job, way of life. Those who can will persist through the hard times anyway they can.

Fighting tooth and claw is not unlawful. or wrong in anyway. Guess I just get annoyed seeing blog posts on my favorite blog about anything other then Hunter stat crunching an techniques.

I apologize for my outburst an rudeness toward you BRK. Guess the stresses of life in hard times will consume me before they will you, or Mr.Greco.

With the extra little spindle of cash from this, perhaps investing in a proper editing system is in order? Of course, it’d be very complicated…

You see, this is precisely what I speaks of!

  36. kunukia on March 10th, 2009 1:20 am

Awww, I no can do this toy. Do not have the lootz for it, saving to visit my Mum (in Canada) the end of April. However, when the Spirit Beast shirt comes out, I WILL be getting one. That has been budgeted.

  37. Nimal on March 10th, 2009 4:06 am

    misleading.
You say it’s a Spirit Beast PULL Toy, but I cannot find the string to PULL it through the house.
Am I now condemned to push it by touching it in a place I would rather not touch my Spirit Beast :S
Furthermore, my back is killing me atm, cause I have to walk like me Gorilladin.
Don’t get me wrong. I luv the things you do and I luv the stuff you make available for us, but this is a big disappointment for me :(

  38. Jaeg and KT on March 10th, 2009 4:27 am

Mirror of Truth procs on ranged attacks as well as melee–Blizz has confirmed this.

I bought one of these, because it is the only way I’m going to get a Spirit Beast–I have no patience for camping it until it spawns, and I’m running SV these days.

A guildie hunter found Spirit Beast, and killed it because she was SV… :( (

  39. Alinidale on March 10th, 2009 6:10 am

    Ooooo…

Soo need to bribe hubby to buy one for me..

Who cares if the shipping to Australia will probably be more then the cost of the toy hehe..

  40. Tzivya on March 10th, 2009 8:20 am

    OMG, want.

@Alindale, be careful, Australia’s Customs are REALLY antsy about wood products, and unfinished ones are probably not going to get in. :( I moved here from the US about 6 years ago and was amazed how careful we had to be with what we brought/shipped.

@longshot: I’ve had my MoT since before they changed the text, and it still procs just fine on ranged attacks and ups my RAP. It really frustrates me that, even after the uproar when it was changed on the PTR, they didn’t bother to actually /fix/ the text.

  41. Thunderbeer on March 10th, 2009 9:29 am

I want one.. but I hate to pay all that extra tax to get it sent to Denmark :(

  42. Bringthpain on March 10th, 2009 9:34 am

    Putting order in now.

I just have to say thanks. There are a lot of sites out there that would just put anything up they might be able to make some kind of money on. At least the two of you got together and are creating something that will give memories long after you have stopped playing WoW. My son love’s anything on wheels and I like to get him toys like this. It helps with the imagination I believe. Now if I can convince my dog it is not a rolling log then we will be good.

@Longshot: Everyone is correct by saying that MoT is not only a melee based proc. Ghostcrawler has a Sticky on the WoW Forums somewhere explaining that it is only a tool tip mistake.

  43. Erik on March 10th, 2009 10:43 am

Ummm….does the pull-toy come in size BIG and color RED???

  44. Papaoomowmow on March 10th, 2009 11:33 am

I’m just glad customers don’t have to camp out for 72 hours just to hit the buy button. ; – )

Good Toy. Hope you make a ton on any and all sales eventually because that is good for EVERYBODY in the economy.

  45. DK on March 10th, 2009 11:34 am

Nice toy and idea, but I think the mutant leg coming out of the belly should be amputated.

  46. Solanum on March 10th, 2009 11:40 am

    @Longshot

The Mirror of Truth text is a typo. It procs off physical attacks (including ranged) but not spells.

There’s a blue about it somewhere

Good on ya BRK. One for a great website and second for helping one of your readers with his business. Specialty hobbyists are hurting more than typical business owners for the most part (I also do woodworking & leatherworking as a hobby and business has dropped with the economy) and getting the word out on things like this is great. Not only for the initial S.B. sales but those folks that will eventually ask John, “What else can ya make?”

To John: neat idea, keep up the good work.

    To SaddenedHunter:
Welcome to the real world. First off, having hosted a popular website on a woodworking hobby, this kind of endeavor isn’t cheap. Our site only brought in half of the audience BRK’s does and our annual costs easily exceeded $1000 for hosting, software, supplies, designers, writers, contests, etc.

I am willing to bet that the few shirts and other things like the Pull Toy only help BRK to break even and maybe buy a few of the Rasberry Lattes he’s so fond of.

So next time you want to comment on someone trying to find ways to support a project as large as the BRK website, without specifically asking you to dip into your wallet to access the information, do a little research to figure out what it takes to run a site like this.
    —————————————————————————————————-
Long story short…you get to access the site for free…FOR FREE…you get to access the blog, the forums, the movies, the commentary and occassionally the personal life of BRK, you get to talk to friends, compare experiences, learn from a huge pool of other Hunters and yet you choose to complain about something you get FOR FREE when BRK makes an attempt to keep it free of charge to you. Get a clue.

  49. SmackHim on March 10th, 2009 12:46 pm

    @sad hunter

Me think you are going to cancel your internet and wow services… and donate that money to those who have lost their house.

Really, we all make choices, we all spend money… see part of the issue is that we consumers are not spending and thus the economy is falling off a cliff. So we say spend your money generate tax money and get this world wide recession on the upside.

It takes a special kind of person to complain when someone doesn’t want to go to a lot of effort to provide you something for free

It takes an even more special kind of person to complain when someone -does- go a lot of effort to give you something for free, but tries to recoup some of their expenses on the side.

I am a little tired of reading sell out and other

(If you don’t see it that way,
Here is some other way you can see it.)
We give are money to wow for entertaining for
Our little brain in stand of give it to poor people.
Bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla and bla.
