Proving Once Again That It’s All Hunter-Loot
There are two iLevel-213 trinkets we hunters hope to get: Bandit’s Insignia and Fury of the Five Flights. We’ve had no luck at all getting either of them, and this is all we’ve needed for our Epic achievement.
Listen, we’re not big into achievements, but we’ve wanted Epic for a long time. So finally, when this iLevel-213 trinket dropped in Naxx and no tank was willing to bid for it for primary or off-spec, we spent a little DKP for it.
“Why would a hunter want that?” the raid leader asked. “For PvP?”

lol Gratz BRK, but you might have been able to save yourself some DKP there.
They might have hot-fixed it, but you at least were able to just swap your trinkets around if you had one 213 trinket and it’d count both toward the achievment. Someone in my guild did just that a few weeks back.
I got my superior achievement by using the trinket swap method. That was shortly after wrath was released though. I’m still a long way from my epic achievement though. The sniper helm from 25m OS is my only piece of 213 gear =(
Yeah, I got my superior on my priest by swapping trinkets slots and by swapping ring slots. i feel so dirty.
Keep hold of it, vehicles in the leviathan fight in ulduar scale with item level, so its worth holding onto at least for that.

Grim Toll. That thing drops like candy in 25man naxx. Just slap it in both slots.

It’s as simple as equipping it in both slots. Got the ‘Fury of the Five Flights’ on my first OS25 this week, and it still works. Same thing works for rings by the way
I’d have waited; there’s plenty of time to get [Epic] when Ulduar comes in…. but I definitely would have /rolled on that trinket just for fun if no-one wanted it (we don’t use DKP).
that’s how he did get the Epic achievement. trinket swapping that defenders code. it was hilarious.
What mod are you using that shows the “SlotValue” in the tooltip?

hrm. I’ve had rating buster forever, and have never seen an option for it to give a slotvalue, only the stats comparisons. I’ll have to investigate the options, thanks.
can’t edit-style edit: just scoured rating buster options, and see nothing about calculating a SlotValue. Also, the line I’m referring to is a brighter yellow than the RatingBuster lines, which leads me to believe it’s from something else, or you know some RB voodoo that I cannot uncover.

Not a fan of Grim Toll? After the Armor Pen changes in patch 3.1 it should become BIS for most if not all physical DPS, and it’s a healthy chunk of hit besides.
Not a big deal BRK i got the parry trinket for my epic achievement haha cause your right not many 213 trinkets good for us haha.

Achievement is over rated. item level is over rated. I could have just swapped a trinket, but I’d rather wait till there is a true upgrade to Greateness.
Yada did the same in heroic naxx, but with tanking helm, grtz, and yada feels warm inside knowing he beat BRK to epic and S3D, but it all started thanks to readin brk when i was hunter
HeHe Just got my fury of the five flights today So happy when i rolled a 76 and the next guy rolled a 74 ^^
Funniest thing is a druid won his T7.5 gloves with a roll of 1 well not that many people have to roll when you 17 man it ^^

Actually the addon is InventoryOnPar it’s also in his sidebar. It’s pretty easy to forget which addons do what.
I find the proc rate on bandits insignia is too low. the AP boost is nice i will admit. but i swear the thing hardly ever does any damage. which is why i still have the mirror equipped and the Bandits insignia sits in my bags

Still haven’t managed to get the Betrayer of Humanity. I actually won the roll on the one time it has dropped for us but I passed it to a DK to get the loot karma. The following week, the Envoy of Mortality dropped into my hot little hands.
And also tanks and other classes remember: don’t take ranged weapon even it has tank stats on it. Each DPS on weapon counts to hunter so leave them ranged!!!
^ Not really true. Tank guns tend to have slower speeds on them(which beginning-to-raid hunters don’t like, since they won’t have much haste rating stacked yet), and a lot of them have purely stam. Even if it has some nice dps, we’d rather get the ranged with some ap on it than pure stam, and with a bit faster speed(depending on your haste rating, of course). But as for other dps, the only way they’d get that ranged weapon fairly is if all of the hunters in the raid have better or have the same weapon. If they don’t, then it’s easy picking for them rogues/dps warriors.
But I digress. Grats on the hilarious achievement story. xD
Edit button fails!!!! I meant faster speed on the tank guns, not slower, seeing as though the only real tank gun out in WotLK so far is the Armor Plated Combat Shotgun w/ a 2.00 speed. Basically, forget what I said in the speed part of the first sentence. :X
You know you could of just switched your trinkets?
The achievement only checks once. So if you put your epic trinket in slot 1, then put it in slot 2, you get credit for both slots.
I was messing with my gear one day and swapped my rings and got the achievement from that.
The achievement is not to have them equipped. The achievement is to have them equipped atleast once in each slot.

What is the addon showing the slot value? I don’t see that in my rating buster.
