The response to the project was absolutely overwhelming. While I could not fit nearly everything in (there was no special pattern to choosing what went in and didn’t – I went in order as much as I could), everything that does not appear in the video is being sent on the BRK separately, along with all of the very kind notes I received addressed to him as well. I very much apologize that not everything would fit, most especially the extremely well done video clips. I had to make a judgment call, and for each clip I included, I would have to leave out 2 or more still pictures. As the clips stand better on their own than many of the pictures, they are being sent on to BRK individually with proper accredidation as well.

And with that, Internet, I have completed my duties as the BRK Executive Assistant. It’s been a slice.

TJ

From BRK: This is absolutely incredible!! Thank you to everybody who participated, and a special thanks the the best executive assistant a WoW-blogger ever had! (We may have to contrive with Phil to find an appropriate present for the girl, whatdaya think?)

TJ, well done on the video it was fantastic

    BRK,
I have been reading your blog since level 1 on my first character and because of how well I learned the lessons (and topped the damage charts) half of my guild went and levelled a BM hunter alt.

Thankyou for all your time and effort over the years teaching us nubs to stop huntarding and start huntering, it’s been great and we all appreciate it immensely.

I’m sad I didn’t get the chance to contribute to this, but I felt that putting a particular real-life concern (my Master’s Exam) first was appropriate to the theme.

Great job, TJ. I got a little tear right around the running of the bulls.

  35. Elriel on April 7th, 2009 12:56 am

BRK, thank you so much for everything. the laughs, the lessons, the insanity that led me to follow the path of the Beastmaster. You’re making the right choice, but you will be missed nonetheless.

I do hope we get a real-life post or two from you now and then, though…your Daniel-mode is just as good as your BRK-mode. :)

    TJ,

Fantastic job on this video! I’m sure it was a tough choice going through everything and only being able to pick some of it to go into this heartfelt tribute to a man we all admire and respect.

On a personal level, I want to thank you for including my screenshot. :)

I’ve only been a fan of BRK for about 6 months or so, but in that time he has helped me to become a Hunter and not one of the many Huntards out there. BRK, as I did in my screenshot, I salute you!

    Thanks TJ for the video,
I guess I am a few that got included there…
    and I am kinda sad
that I just make the still picture in a rush…
(I was looking forward to get my spirit beast to make the picture,
but I was run out of time…)
Sorry for anyone whose submission got miss out because of me….

I wasn’t able to get the kiting part on my hunter
until BRK make the video about it
and also lots of inspiration kept me from
    being another huntard out there…

BRK, what you did is not just saved the reputation of our hunter out there,
but also improved all of our game life there
    (also include those ex-huntard’s guildmate)
I’ll try my best to promote what I had learnt to others

    Godspeed BRK.

  63. Anon on April 7th, 2009 5:29 am

Its always hard to lose someone who was apart of your daily life. In the case of 1 BigRedKitty, I visit this site daily even though your not playing WoW or Blogging anymore.

You are a man of greatness who puts energy and excitement back into the Hunter class. I quit playing my hunter after my account was hacked and I lost years of work an saving.

I rerolled a shaman an played horde for a long time. Reading the BRK site, watching his LilBRK movies an listening to his Podcast took me back. I rebuilt my Dwarf hunter using what little I had an hes now camping The Spirit Beast in Sholazar at lvl76.

An now that your gone, its a bit hard, I still come to the site. An I miss having BRK around. Damn you for having a pleasent voice to listen to, witty an fun to watch videos. I hope your real life gets sorted out quickly and you can come back to us.

  66. Deucedeuce on April 7th, 2009 6:35 am

Along with many people here, I watched that whole video with tears in my eyes. The hunter community will miss you big guy, but I can see the reasons you left. Cheers to the family my man, good luck out there.

You are a great hunter, but more importantly, you are a great person, and this world is better with you on it. Good bye my friend!

  67. Scruffi on April 7th, 2009 6:40 am

Long-standing guild policy: RL Comes First.

But yeah, I have to say that you’re the reason I became a beastmaster and, frankly, a decent hunter in general. For me, you have been as much a part of the game as any character. Oh, and Jinxi (the kitty pet I’ve had for three years) says mrowr, which is essentially the same sentiment, cat-wise. ]:)

Though I no longer really play my hunter, I’ve checked this site daily for the past year, and will continue to do so now. I’ll miss the Brain posts, the podcasts, the immense store of advice and the personality behind them; but, as we’ve all said, BRK – or, now, Daniel would be more fitting – RL —> WoW. Good luck. :)

TJ…..tasteful, poignant and stirring….Gratz, Well done!

    Daniel:

Just a personal note to add to the comments and thank yous. Many players have posted about your impact on their characters advancement, I, too, thank you for that. However, I would like to thank you for your impact on ME as a person. Your perspective, witticism and patience affected me in a profound way as evidenced by an improvement in my general disposition towards others. Do not ever think for a moment that this site was merely a blog about a game. Your perspective, insights and anolgies about real life are what made us all better hunters and, more importanly, better people.

    Fare-thee-well, Daniel and family.

That was freaking amazing TJ and everyone who contributed. And all that, I wager, is but a mere fraction of the representation of the Hunters whom you, BRK, have enriched in this game.

First off, great job with the video and the music selection for it TJ. That your work has touched on the heart of the emotion goes without saying.

As for BRK; I think it’s only fitting that we begin, with this great outpouring of feeling, a campaign to put Airman Howell into the next World of Warcraft expansion as the newest and greatest Hunter Trainer of all. I can see no other way of immortalizing all the work and time and distance from loved ones that has gone into everything Daniel has done. Perhaps even with his text reading that while he does know the most about being a hunter, that he stays with his family more now.

I think we can accomplish this. Blizz has put another Wow-community avatar in the game in Breanni. Her avatar can be viewed here: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=28951#comments

Just remember that when you push this idea to Blizz, that you remain friendly! We are asking them to honor one of ours that truly deserves it! A few pleasantries will do nothing to hurt that cause!

And last but never least, Daniel. I have no words to express the profound impact you’ve had on such a great body of people. I also have a family and understand the sorrow one can feel at the missed opportunities. Do not worry! You making this choice shows both a desire and an ability to rectify the situation and your family can see that. Have fun with them and take care of Little Red Kitty.

We will miss you more than words can convey.

‘Never have so few, done so much for so many with so little.’

Hey True Blue, don’t say you’ve gone. Say you’ve knocked off for a smoko.
And you’ll be back la-ater on. Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue.

Give it to me straight, face to face. Are you really disappearing.
Just another dy-ying race. Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you. Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo.
Is it standin’ by your mate when he’s in a fight. Or just Vegemi-ite.
    True Blue, I’m a-asking you.

Hey True Blue, can you bear the load. Will you tie it up with wire.
Just to keep the show on the road. Hey True Blue.
Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum.

Is your heart still there. If they sell us out like sponge cake.
Do you rea-eally care. Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you. Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo.
Is it standin’ by your mate when she’s in a fight. Or just Vegemi-ite.
    True-ue-ue Blue, I’m a-asking you…

True Blue, is it me and you. Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo.
Is it standin’ by your mate when he’s in a fi-ight. Or just Vegemi-ite.
    True-ue-ue Blue, True-ue-ue Blue.

First of all, thank you, thank you, thank you, TJ. Excellent work, your time and effort is greatly appreciated!

For the record, my bear and I are buddies, and I raid with Rakshiri. But in trying to find some fitting tribute to BRK movin’ on, I just happened to have an unnamed test Sporebat (who’s actually earned a regular spot in my rotation) sitting in the stables. So Hobbes it has become, in what I consider the ultimate tribute from an easy going Tauren Marksman, to a fast talking Dwarf Beastmaster. ;)

    Farewell BRK, enjoy your journeys.

    May our paths cross again!

So long and thanks for all the posts.

There are a lot of people who play this game that get way too caught up in being elitist and all of that business. But you, BRK, are someone who I have always recognized as an incredibly decent human being, and your parting words only prove it.

You’ll be missed by hunters and non-hunters alike, good sir.
